me when the fixation is hyper and the interest is special
Oh you're "the funny one"? You enjoy causing others to suffer? You laugh at other people's pain? You view everyone else as your playthings and you don't care at all about a single soul in the circus?
Then why did you immediately apologize after accidentally taking a life off of her?
An idea cause we all thought she was going to shoo herself
*insert some Dodie Lyrics here*
omg that’s my feet
sorry i cant today i have to sit in my room take a deep breath and think about every mistake i have ever made
WandaVision, 1.05 “On a Very Special Episode…”
She looks so pretty here 🤍🤍🤍
It took 284 chapters
Damn, Horikoshi’s really out there making the perfect angsty slow burn relationship in a shounen manga
What Bakugou said in these panels... I love how most fics got the concept correctly when it comes to how Bakugou felt about Midoriya and his bullying
(Also, is Horikoshi reading fanfictions? ‘Cuz 👀)
looking back on bakudeku interactions after Kacchan’s past feelings are revealed in chapter 284 like
Daily reminder from Toga and Twice that you’re a ✨bad bitch✨ and they love you.
Horikoshi, You Mad Man...
**Chapter 284 Edition**
Okay, in light of My Hero Academia: Chapter 284, I am slowly realizing that Horikoshi is going to make Bakugo straight-up suffer at the conclusion of this arc. Because, let’s see – this whole arc has set up a LOT with Bakugo’s character.
Let’s start at the Beginning of this Arc. We have this scenario:
I. Hawks Probably Killed Best Jeanist
II. Best Jeanist is the Inspiration for Bakugo’s Name –
– which is why he wants to wait to tell Best Jeanist in person.
III. Hawks Knows that Bakugo Was Interning With Best Jeanist:
And now, at what could be the “climax” potentially of this arc we have the revelation that:
I. Bakugo has been working towards atoning for his bullying of Izuku, by training with him and being a generally “better” person around him:
II. Bakugo is LEGITIMATELY worried that Deku is about to push himself past his limits and endanger himself, not caring about the consequences:
III. He is literally powerless to save Deku in this instance from Shigaraki, which is why he tells Endeavor to get his stuff in gear and make “this shot count” when aiming for Shigaraki next.
Y’all….We’ve been going into this arc thinking it’s going to feature Deku having to deal with potentially losing Aizawa and Gran Torino, two of his mentors…
…but have we thought about Bakugo?
Bakugo is dealing with potentially be powerless in the face of potentially losing his friend/ally with Izuku…but, what happens when his battle is over? And we pan back to Hawks, who has to explain his role in infiltrating the LOV?
How’s Bakugo going to ALSO deal with the potential that he’s lost his mentor too in the form of Best Jeanist?
This arc is establishing the desperation people will tap into when solely wanting to accomplish a goal, with no care for their own well-being.
We’ve seen that with Hawks and him “sacrificing” himself and his morals to accomplish his goals – both in the deaths of Best Jeanist and Twice.
We’ve seen this now with Deku, as he’s literally “sacrificing” himself (only his arm so far, but still) to accomplish his goal of defeating Shigaraki.
But here’s the problem:
Hawks’s sacrifice may have done more long-term harm than good, and has a ripple effect against others…Bakugo being one of them.
Deku’s sacrifice is looking to potentially have more long-term negative effects, and does affect those around him…Bakugo being one of them.
What I’m saying is Horikoshi is setting up Bakugo to have a major character development aka “Come to Jesus” moment by the end of this arc, where he’s going to have to sort through a lot of things…and we’re just now seeing it taking shape.
I mean, I’ve been waiting for Bakugo to have some growth for a while in this series, but this is setting up some dark implications…
And to think, in the same chapter we got the start of this horrific reveal that the 4th User and One for All may have some sinister connotations or potential for Deku and his possible demise, we also get Deku saying:
…Horikoshi…YOU MAD MAN…
I can’t stop thinking about it. I had to, at leAst, doodle something. So. Here. Have my poor, poor emotional status at the moment.
I wanna talk about these two panels for a minute because I've been trying to wrap my head around the second one.
"Though I'm sure he doesn't see it that way."
To me this line really hits, and I see it in two different ways, both equally important.
First, I see it as All Might kind of acknowledging that Deku may not even see the need for Bakugo to atone. We have never seen Deku think badly of Bakugo due to his mistreatment. We've never seen him think he wants an apology or anything close to it.
All we've seen is Deku continuously push to stay by Bakugo's side. To support him and hope to be supported by him. All Deku has ever wanted out of their relationship is understanding, to be understood and to understand. To move forward, together. Because Bakugo, to Deku, is no doubt his best friend.
So it may be a case where Deku just..never saw any of the actions against him as necessarily wrong, just ...misunderstood. Maybe All Might has picked up on that, since he watches them both, and so that could be reason for that line.
But my second reason would be that because Deku sees himself and Bakugo as rivals, he could also be convinced Bakugo is doing this in an effort to surpass him instead of genuinely helping him, and so now he is the one misunderstanding.
So the line changes, and I think that's why All Might also explains to Bakugo that they'll have a chance to talk eventually, so Bakugo can make it clear those actions aren't shaped within their rivalry, but are his genuine care for Deku.
Either way you take it, it's important to Bakugo and Deku's development together. Because there always seems to be misunderstanding between them, they never seem to have their feet on the same platform, and it causes issues between them. Hopefully with these changes, and the self awareness of Bakugo relating to his mistreatment of Deku, they can finally stand on the same ground together and face each other without misunderstandings.
Also, for added effect, that line from All Might about them getting to talk could most certainly be a warning to something going wrong and them not getting that chance, so, ya know. Pain.
Hori in the beginning about Bakugou:
Me, sobbing: yes, sir, thank you sir, you did great.
