5 Seconds of Summer Lore For Beginners

This is information I pulled from a video explaining the lore. The video is linked below for credit. The maker was incredibly helpful, but I understand that sometimes seeing something in video form can be difficult to process. Feel free to reblog and add any information you know with time stamps.
2011 -

Luke, Michael, and Calum met at a private christian school in Australia
Calum always misses practice for soccer
Luke's mom is Ashton's math teacher
Ashton is a local drummer so he gets plugged in, he's been in a couple different bands. So they sent him a Facebook dm. Michael sends it to him. And they do super small gigs. Their first name was Stuck In Reverse.They get a manager named Adam. Calum wrote their first original song called Gotta Get Out and it has a little music video. They were doing weekly livestreams. They rehearse 5 days a week nonstop.
They would rehearse in the dark with all the lights off.
2012 - They get a gig opening on tour for Hot Chelle Rae. Louis Tomilson tweets them saying he loves their cover and shares one of their covers so the band gains popularity. Their manager Matt speaks to them saying One Direction is looking for someone to go on the Take Me Home tour. They were still in high school and were worried they would be labeled as a Boyband and they wanted to be similar to the next green day. Calum was worried because he would have to give up soccer but they decided they would do it. For this tour they recorded an EP with their 4 best original songs called the Somewhere New EP.
2012 -They go to London after 5 days after Ashton graduates highschool. Michael went to Louis Tomlinson's nye party and got drunk. Louis paid for his cab. They're all like 16-18 and they're drinking and stuff. They write over and over, the borderline, loser, you're not alone, 10,000 miles and a lot of those songs weren't released. They're still doing acoustic tours. Different parents were cycling in and out to care for them. They go to see a media trainer. They have no goals, no plan. They were writing multiple songs a day, rehearsing, livestreaming, and going out. They have no money.
Tour of one direction begins at peak 1D. 5sos had a max of 200 people at their biggest show and had only played 22 shows total. They were practicing nonstop. When they went to Miami they got swarmed by fans the first time.
2013 - They signed an album deal with capital records. They got a fancy house with a studio to create their first EP. They're internet celebrities at this point. People would show up at the house, swarm them, and stalk them.
2014 - Their first EP at the house is the She Looks So Perfect EP. It charted as 2nd on the charts because Frozen came out. They would do 5 countries in 5 days for the promo of that song. They work 23 hour days going everywhere. They do their own little mini tour. People finally know their songs. One Direction and then go on tour again. They released Heartbreak Girl, Amnesia, etc. They finally finished their album. They played Teen Choice Awards 2014. They release Don't Stop and a music video.
The debut album came out in June of 2014. It's called 5 Seconds of Summer because they couldn't think of a title. They won AMA for best new artist against Megan Trainer. They also release LiveSOS. They're still always nominated in the pop category because they're so associated with 1D they're associated as a boyband.
At billboard music awards Kendal Jenner introduced them as One Direction lmao. Their identities are aligned at this point and they can't get away from that.
2015 - Sounds Good Feels Good era
Chaos era.
The halfway point. Their song is still number one on the charts. John Fellman and them need to make a new album in 2 months because they have a new tour coming and they only have 10 weeks to do it. They’re living in bellair going to the studio everyday and they want the album to be more punk. The tour is called Rock Out With Your Socks Out.
The tour starts and they release the album on tour learning the songs on the road. The big singles being “She’s Kinda Hot”, “Jet Black Heart”, “Waste The Night”, “Outer Space/Carry on” and “Hey Everybody!”.
It was their first live show tour only for them.
2016 - They do another tour immediately after which is Sounds Live Feels Live. It was their biggest tour ever.
They get their first rolling stones article which is a big deal for a new artist. It was super controversial. They were all naked on the cover. The author of the article paints them in an incredibly bad light and we don’t know how credible it is. They’re made out to be people that simply just party and hookup. It drops in the middle of their tour. It sparks a major online backlash debate.
They win the worst band award for 3 years in a row. The fans did it as a joke and the band didn’t realize it. They beat ACDC for best live act. A lot of them are in relationships at this point and that causes a lot of drama. They’re working nonstop. They’re partying a lot.
End of 2016-
Fans have a lot of parasocial relationships. English Love Affair is a song they dropped on their first album and it's about Gemma Styles (Harry Styles’ sister) and Ashton was involved with her. Girls who hangout and slept with the 5SOS boys would tweet about it.
Michael Clifford and Camila Cabello had a little thing and their messages got leaked. And the fifth harmony fandom hated them as a result.
Ashton and Luke both dated Hailey Baldwin (Bieber) at one point.
Calum’s Hood dick pics were leaked on snapchat.
The tumblr “it girl” of the time was thought to be with Luke and there was multiple fanfics about it. But she was actually hooking up with Michael.
2016-2017
Arzaylea was dating Luke. Everyone in every fandom pretty much hates her. She scammed fans with fake merch, she’s a coke addict, she overshares online in a weird way. She’s a trust fund baby, she’s really rude to fans. She would tweet weird dirty stuff about Luke which made fans uncomfy. She would threaten suicide constantly. They called her Asparaghus because they hated her. They dated from 2015-2017. Later she ends up cheating on him with blackbear. She literally drives Luke’s car to LA and they STILL don’t break up.
Ashton was dating Brianna who was a Playboy model.
Michael is dating Crystal who is a Victoria’s Secret model. They have a 7 year age gap but it's rumored to actually be an 11 year age gap.
This is after 1D has their "hiatus" that they never come back from. Everyone is one edge worried it would be the end of 5SOS.
2016 - Bali Trip
The band goes to Bali for New Years. Fans are following them, tracking them, chasing them on mopeds. They have no security and the girlfriends are with them. Arzaylea was sending photos of Luke in group chats with fans. Apparently Luke said he doesn’t like it and she doesn’t care and keeps doing it. There’s a video of Crystal yelling at some fans to back off but she does it in a really rude way.
Calum makes a super cryptic tweet like “One day I’ll live a normal life” and then he deletes it. And everyone is worried he’s going to pull a Zayne. Brianna and Ashton are already toxic off and on. And then immediately after the trip she tweets “I’m 100% single”
Sounds Live Feels Live Tour ends. The band goes quiet. They have a break. No album for awhile. Arzaylea and Luke break up. It ends because blackbear “accidentally” posts them together. Also they were raging cocaine addicts at this point allegedly which isn’t good. Luke ends up moving in with Ashton because he couldn’t trust himself to be alone. His mental health was horrible. He was addicted to hard drugs at this point. There’s a theory that Ghost is about him and Ashton. Ashton is known for crashing his cars and there’s a lot of lines in that song. And there’s a lot of parts of the song that uses a him pronoun. But it’s never been confirmed.
Post Luke and Arzaylea break up she goes on this insane rampage on social media. Luke posts nothing about it. Arzaylea comments on one of his posts about a finishing line and she comments like “Yeah you always did finish fast” when given backlash and hate by the fans she goes “We’re going to talk about the escorts, the cocaine, the cheating on me, the lies, the everything that lead up to me leaving you. I’m tired of everyone thinking this is for attention because deadass I’ve been holding in my pain for a year. I made a mistake but he made a million.” She continues calling the band racist and homophobic and mentioning the drug use.
Meanwhile Michael is maybe depressed. The rolling stones article talks about him having depression for like half the article which is crazy because they’re naked on the cover and are like “Michael’s depressed”
Ashton is a functioning alcoholic. And they’ve been drinking since they were 14.
Many fans step away at this point. And a lot of fans “leave” the fandom.
2016/2017- Almost like their “dead” era after this point
2018 - Youngblood era
5sos comes back with Youngblood. It’s actually their biggest song of all time. It goes crazy because it’s a different sound. They also released Want You Back, Valentine, Lie To Me. This became their biggest commercial era. Streaming, radio, making songs for pop charts. They finally give up the whole punk rock thing and go pop. And they have a little tour because their last tour did not go too well. It’s from 2018 to 2019 and they’re playing their hits.
2019 - 2020 - CALM era (Calum, Ashton, Luke, Michael)
Easier, Teeth, No Shame, Old Me, Wildflower. The problem is it drops in March 2020. They drop the album and covid starts and they can’t really go on tour. They had a tour planned called the No Shame tour and they couldn't do it. They end up doing a bunch of interviews on zoom and they would do zoom call streams with each other.
2020 - 2021
A lot of members were doing solo projects. Ashton releases his own album Superbloom, Luke releases When Facing the Things We Turn Away From, they have the 10 year band anniversary and they drop a song called 2011. They also dropped a podcast series and they released the 5 Seconds of Summer show which is a mini tour.
Luke also gets married to Sierra Deaton who won X Factor with her husband at the time Alex. They’re really private about their relationship. And he’s a father now. Michael also marries Crystal and they have a kid later on.
Calum and Ashton are single.
2022 - 2023
They drop 5SOS5. They dropped a single called COMPLETE MESS and that was their first song they fully produced as a band. They drop a song with Sierra on the album. They do the Take My Hand tour. They also do a special tour called The Feeling of Falling Upwards tour and it’s more focused on their anniversary. They also dropped a live album from that tour. They have a live choir in the back of the songs.
2024 - 2026
They members continue solo projects. Ashton dropped another one. Calum dropped ORDER chaos ORDER, Luke dropped boy, Michael dropped SIDEQUEST. They drop EVERYONE’S A STAR! And there’s a tour.
