I have created a list of models I want to create while at home in my own time or in college in my free time! the Iphone 5C model is very basic at the moment but I just wanted to start it today!
Task 6: Evaluation FMP
The purpose of each task was to give myself an understanding of what I will be doing in the weeks to come, over the past 11 weeks I have been creating and texturing a 3D environment for the Final Major Project, it was not easy but in the end I managed to complete the environment within the time frame of the project.
My research contains all of the source images I found on the internet to aid me on imagining a 3D office, there was many models I wish I created for the office and actually implemented but thats where Timing comes into, although I completed the project on time I did not add the detail I wanted and that I imagined if it wasn't for the constant reminder of how soon the deadline was id be here modelling game cases and shelves and other tiny models for the desks..
The office may look very simple and minimal but for actually creating it was no easy ride, I actually ran into so many errors and faults with this project probably more than any model/environment I have ever created, relentless missing textures due to not setting my project folder and lighting being too intense or non existent (Almost let the entirety of the environment render with a huge intense point light in the centre of the office) so I could have messed up honestly so many times with this project, but with constant work outside and inside college and looking over I finally was happy with the result and put it up for rendering.
Creating a proposal is just the best thing you can do when 3D modelling or just starting a project in general because I knew what I was doing every step of the way, what I would be doing in each class; my budget, equipment I will need and other important tasks i’ll face in the weeks to come, the rendering times was a very good idea so if there was a hiccup with the rendering stopping or anything id still have time to start the render again and actually have something to show at the end of these 11 weeks.
The quality of the 3D render was 1080p to give the viewer a HD look at the environment and to add realism to the frames, the models I had created for this had taken a huge amount of time to model and texture for example the razer krakens, the monitors, the keyboards, the chairs I believe there shouldn't be basic models in the background because the viewer wont “see it” but I like to take time in my models so that I can render them separately and either import them into other projects and pretty much make the environment look nice and not rushed.
The design for the office came from inspiration of RoosterTeeth’s achievement hunter office and also mikes class with the ceiling and lights, without them I dont think I would have gone with the office environment and instead the 2D kinetic typography, the proposal contains an image I had created in photoshop as a floor plan for the office which went all the way to final production and is now the shape of the office!
To be honest if I had more time for this project I would have added so much more detail to this environment, with game cases scattered throughout the office and shelves full of tiny figurines and other headsets, also would have loved to create some game consoles, computer towers and mouses which is currently missing from the office, the door to the office was never completed and the frames of the windows was not textured.
All in all to sum everything up I am very happy with what I have created in these past couple weeks, in the future I will re visit this environment and add all the details I missed, very pleased with myself I completed this on time and uploaded everything on the deadline! debsmga mikesmga mgacreatives
Final render of my 3D office environment, very happy with the end result a bit grainy here and there but nevertheless the lighting works well with the objects in the room, I will now go on to create my evaluation on this project.
Wish I could have modeled more objects for the office but I didn't really plan my time carefully which is a very important part when starting a project, the music used is royalty free and goes well with the final piece.
Another render of the office environment, I have replaced the roof so there are no longer any square holes and have now created lights for the office, model of the ceiling and light idea was inspired by mikes classroom.

Quick update on the office! lighting was added along with monitors and a landscape through the windows, more pictures to come shortly.

Quick renders of my office I am creating! very happy with the texturing at this moment in time,
The lighting has been a big issue for me mainly because in some areas its too intense and does not give the realistic natural lighting feel that I am trying to achieve as of now I believe I have an even amount of light within the room, so now all I need to add is the monitors and texture the keyboard.

Started to create small models and put them inside the 3D office! the above picture is the office room itself with a couple models, what I need to do next is model a microphone computer mouse, computer tower, xbox? (if I have the time) and other small details around the environment then ill need to texture the whole thing with some natural light.

Creating a chair within Maya!
For this lesson I will create or attempt to create a chair inside maya for my 3D office environment.
I have almost finished the Razer Kraken’s in maya! this model had taken me 3 days to complete, still needs work with more detail and probably a remodel of the actual head band area(Now Complete), very happy with it so far and will definitely go in my office 3D environment! Very very happy with the models.
The hard part of actually making this model was the speaker like grill on both sides of the headset which set me back a day or two mainly because I had to create a hexagonal grid type of grill and actually make it bend around a sphere for the shape, I created a flat hexagonal plain using a maya plugin http://www.creativecrash.com/maya/script/hexagon-grid-creator after I had the flat square hexagon sheet I then experimented with ncloths within Maya to actually wrap it around a sphere and copy it but each hexagon kept glitching and warping so In the end mike recommended why not watch a video of creating a speaker grill because it is technically the same process so after watching this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeJEthJe6cQ I perfected the grill and moved on to complete the headset!
The logo’s on the headband area’s of the headphones messed up a couple times where every time I actually rendered they would not show up and was just all black this was due to the textures being an unsupported file type that would not open in photoshop or maya so after changing them all to .Jpg they now work perfectly.

Render man free?
Pro’s:
Giving the chance for young or old independent personal projects to look professional.
£400 for a license, grantee people will like it enough to buy the product.
Con’s:
Pretty cheap for a great product.
Hard work wasted on releasing the product for free.
How would I feel about the release:
I think it’s great for any person to create a professional looking render and being part of Pixar it would be a great feeling helping so many animators and modelers around the world, it is also a very good marketing idea which would in the long run generate more money for the company and audience.
Would I choose to release it:
I would choose to release it mainly because if I had this product for so many years within the business it shouldn't just stay with us, if the company ever disappeared one day the products that we have created would also disappear along with us which would be a tremendous waste.
Very basic monitor that I created in bout 20 minutes, the main colour is very reflective which will need to be reduced a little and even touched up because it looks a little cartoony in my opinion.

Just created a quick model for my office, the textures are a little blurry here and there but they will be in the back ground piled on top of each other they wont have the viewers main attention.

Very early stages of the office I am currently creating, in a couple weeks this will almost certainly look different but for now just a rough idea, I’m thinking of expanding the room size and actually make an actual desk with a ceiling and more room, I will also create artificial light and realistic light via light sockets and windows.

Finishing my research to achieve a better grade.
Start production in Mike’s room.

Setting project folder! finally at the beginning of production.
