I’m still confused about why there was a consensus of it being wills turn to make a move at the end of chapter 10. Because didn’t mike just fumble last time and miss his opportunity??? idk why the takeaway from that whole situation would be mike doesn’t make a move this time around. am i missing something 🤔🤔🤔 or is something not revealed yet??

sooo reallyyyy they both kind of fumbled because neither of them spoke up. obviously mike was a little uncertain/figuring things out and pulled back a little bit which made will uncertain about where they stood and ultimately led to him dating derek. it’s the fact that will didn’t tell mike (or lucas or dustin) about derek at all until he couldn’t avoid it anymore, and being blindsided by that information did make mike feel like a Big Idiot, which will acknowledged and felt badly about.

this (mild) humiliation ritual made mike 1) think he misread what will’s intentions were when they were Talking and 2) very reluctant to put himself on the line lest he get embarrassed again. therefore, it is Will’s Turn because Will is ultimately the one who failed to provide clarity the last time they were in this situation. mike is also typically the one throughout the fic to bridge the gap or offer the first olive branch whenever they’re fighting, so will taking initiative would make mike feel a lot more secure about the feelings balance! mike knows what He wants, and he’s pretty sure he knows what will wants, but he needs will to be the one to say it ♥️ hopefully that helps clear things up!

But I was rereading it and I was wondering if wills disliking towards driving was explained. Or if it's gonna be explained. Like was it a thing from his childhood with Lonnie or just a general dislikeness😭

hello!! most of it is implied in follow the sparks (i’ll drive)!! it is a residual trauma thing from the way lonnie drives.

I love you guy's fic so much, I've read it 4 times now I'm obsessed! I was just wondering (and by wondering I mean i'm pretty sure it is, but just wanted to confirm) if will's starting scene in the newest chapter (13 on ao3, aka chapter 11) is the same scene as Mikes pov in chapter 10 (ao3 chapter 11) LOVE U GUYS TY FOR MY FAV FIC EVER (bc it IS my fav fic ever btw like out of everything ive ever read)

hiii!! we’re glad you’ve enjoyed everything 🥰 yes, the scene in will’s pov at the start of ch11 is the same as the one from mike’s pov in ch10.1! some scenes will start to overlap in the same way as we get further along, but we will always clarify if that’s the case!

hi also! i have updated the “estimated upload date” in our pinned! rather than an exact date or even ballpark there’s a general “deadline” and the chapter could go up on that date or any time before. the goal is, of course, to have it sooner rather than later, but the wiggle room exists for good reason :’) we’ll continue to be transparent and update if anything changes!

hii, just wondering obviously no rush because I know you guys are probably busy, when do you think you’ll have the chapter out or maybe the earliest you will (I just mainly wanna know if it’ll be out during the time I wont really have a chance to read it 😢😢)

anon you were reading my mind!!! i just answered an ask like thirty seconds ago talking about my estimated upload date haha but i am hopinnnggg and shooting for end of july/beginning of august :) i know it's been a moooo but genuinely ch11 & 12 are The most load bearing of the work so they are intimidating to get through and get right. ch13 & 14 are load bearing as well, but in a way that is more satisfying to both write and read, so we aren't too concerned with upload times on those!

in terms of the time of day we typically post, definitely late evening in all us timezones. depending on the day of the week/what people's preferences are, we are open to pushing it back one extra day to upload at a time that's more convenient, but most of the time we are so excited to be done that we say fuck it and post anyway haha.

as always, thank you all so much for your patience and continued enthusiasm and grace w the story and our upload schedules <3 it's been rough the past few years, but we've had a lot of fun working on this together and sharing it with you!!

Would you guys maybe consider delaying Chapter 12 so Chapters 12 and 13 come out closer together?

we attempted to do this with ch11, but unfortunately with the way that we write it doesn't really work out very well! we are in the part of the fic where the chapters are very closely intertwined, and we need quite a bit of context from the previous chapter to start with the one that's due next. beta'ing each other's chapters is also nearly the same amount of work as it is to actually write it, and i fear trying to delay any part of our process for the sake of a brief chapter interlude would kind of break our brains a little bit haha.

i know i haven't shared much of ch12 since i have 1) been mildly subjected to the ao3 author curse and 2) it's hard to nail down anything in a snip that isn't either a major spoiler or nonsensical without context, but my plan/hope is to have it up in the late july-early august timeframe. my work is famously incredibly busy from august-november, so i'm very aware of the free time i have now and i've been pouring a lot of time into ch12, even if it might not seem like it at the moment!

I was doing a reread of the series, and in 'leave me stranded (it's so romantic)' it mentions suzie, and that her and dustin have been dating for 2 years, but then in chap 4 of ACSWY it says that dustin met her near the end of the semester
