March 1: TCG MaxPoint Gold

The TCG MaxPoint Series is underway, and this March 1st, we will be hosting a MaxPoint Gold tournament. The tournament will be a Standard tournament with prizes for the top 16, and points towards the MaxPoint Series that can go to entering the MaxPoint Championships, as well as getting byes and can be used as tokens.

The prizes are:

1st: $200, Playmat + 30 Points + 2 author token cards

2nd: $100, Playmat + 20 Points + 2 author token cards

3rd-4th: $50, Playmat + 10 Points + 2 author token cards

5th-8th: $25, Playmat + 5 Points + 2 author token cards

9th-16th: 2 Points

The entry fee for the event is $25, and will start at 2:00 PM.

February 15: Star City Games Invitational Qualifiers

The StarCityGames.com Invitational Qualifiers have arrived! The tournament, being held February 15th, will be open to all players, with prizes for the Top 8 Finishers:

1st Place: Qualification for a StarCityGames.com Invitational, $250, 5 Open Points, and a Top 8 pin

2nd Place: 24 Packs of Current Set, 4 Open Points, and a Top 8 pin

3rd-4th: 12 Packs of Current Set, 3 Open Points, and a Top 8 pin

5th-8th: 6 Packs of Current Set, 2 Open Points, and a Top 8 pin

The Top 4 Finishers will also receive an Exclusive SCG Invitational Qualifier Playmat. The entry fee for the event is $25.

Born of the Gods Pre-Release and Release

The new Magic the Gathering set, Born of the Gods, will be having a pre-release event on February 1st and 2nd. The new set, which will be available in booster packs, intro packs, and fat packs, will feature 165 black-bordered cards, with premium versions of every card randomly inserted in the various packs. Born of the Gods will have its full release on February 7th.

New Release: Ogre Designer Edition

The 1977 Classic board game is back, and bigger than ever! With 5 giant mapboards, more than 500 oversized full-color unit counters, plus 72 Ogres and buildings- which come as 3-D constructable models- as well as geomorphing maps and hundreds of overlays, Ogre Designer's Edition is one of the largest boardgames around, and yet is still very easy to learn and play, with basic games taking only a half hour.

December 7: King of Tokyo Tournament

This Friday, we will be having a tournament for Richard Garfield's King of Tokyo. Entry into the tournament is free, and the winner will win a Space Penguin promo monster!

New Pokémon Set: XY

The first set from the latest Generation of Pokémon games is here! The new set, The Pokémon TCG: XY—Kalos Starter Set, will be the first to feature the new Fairy-Type Pokémon and Energies, and Mega Evolutions. The new set gives you the choice of three 60-card decks, each one featuring a brand-new Pokémon (Chespin, Fennekin, or Froakie), as well as containing several other other new Pokémon from the Kalos region. There will be a deluxe version of the set as well, which will include one Black & White Series booster pack.

On top of the new Starter sets, the first expansion for XY has also been announced, also titled XY. The 10-card packs are split into two collections, Collection X and Collection Y, which each have 60 cards total. The expansion is slated for release February 5th, 2014.

New Yu-Gi-Oh! Set: Shadow Specters

The tenth set in the Yu-Gi-Oh! ZEXAL series is now available! There are 9 cards per pack, with 24 packs per box. The set introduces new card types like the "Malicevorous" and "Ghostrick" archetype cards, and carries support and new members for the "Druids," "Bujin," "Gagaga," "Battlin Boxer," "Vampire," "Mecha Phantom Beast," "Spirit," "Monarch," and "Number" cards.

November 17: Legacy (8 Proxy) tournament

There will be a Legacy tournament this November 17th, allowing for the use of eight proxies in each deck. The prizes are set as follows:

First place: Revised Tundra

Second place: Flooded Strand

Third and Fourth: 12 booster packs of standard

In the event that there are 24 or more players, Fifth through Eighth will also receive 6 booster packs of standard

The entry fee for the tournament is $10 for anyone who wants to compete.

Mid-November: My Little Pony CCG released

Closer towards the middle of the month, around the 15th, the new My Little Pony – Collectible Card Game is slated to be released. The game will be packaged as both starter and structure decks, as well as 12-card booster packs. The starter decks, which can be bought in tandem in the Premiere Edition 2-Player Starter Set, will contain 58 cards each, including foil versions of both the "Pinkie Pie Mane Character" and "Fluttershy" cards. Between the two 59-card structure decks, or Premiere Theme Decks, one will be featuring Rainbow Dash and (a non-foil) Rarity, and the other Twilight Sparkle and (a non-foil) Apple Jack.

November 1: Commander 2013 released

This November, we’ll be seeing the release of Magic: The Gathering Commander 2013. Each of the five 100-card decks that make up in Commander 2013 will include three premium oversized versions of the legendary commander cards, alongside the normal versions which are also included in the decks. All five decks will be available on the first, with prices ranging from $39.99 and $59.99.
