Nov 26 Left Placencia for Punta Gorda.Hitched a ride with Justin,Matt and Katia. Great way to see the landscape and get a tan. Justin and Matt are from Chicago but run a hostel in Unitedville ,Belize. Pretty slow goings in PG. Had a good night out at Gomiers restaurant with them. Nov 27 Left PG for Hopkins early. More scenery via the back of the truck. We went to the Lubaantun ruins; my first. They were interesting. We stayed at the funky dodo hostel. Ran into a few people from the sailing trip that were staying there as well. Played some cricket (darts) with some locals till close. Nov 28 Left Hopkins for Unitedville. Been hanging with Justin , Matt and Katia for a couple days and wanted to see their hostel, so made the trip inland. Gorgeous day and drive. Coming into the mountains and jungle from the coast was beauty. Just chilled once we arrived. A lot of travelling lately; too much. Got to remember to "Go slow bro"

Nov 22-24 Took a 3 day ,2 night sailing trip from caye caulker to placencia. Our boat was a 38' twin beam with 18 sailors and 4 crew. We fished and snorkelled our way to rendezvous caye for the first night. A tiny private island with 10 palapas and a dock. Unihabited except for the crew of palapa builders that stayed that night as well. Brutal tropical winds that night. I tried my hammock instead of the tent provided; I should have used the tent. They prepared great food throughout the trip ; cooking up our fishing and spear fishing catches along the way. I caught a three foot barracuda which we had that night. The second night we made it to tobacco caye. 24 full time population and can hold approx. 80 tourists? There's a bar and a gift shop. The amount of conch shells on this island is tremendous. The run punch and panti rippas flowed pretty good on tobacco. Great weather for Sunday and the end of the trip into Placencia. The crew of Jacob , Ish ,Dice and Dylan from Raggamuffin Tours did an awesome job from start to finish.

Nov 21 Dove the Blue Hole , Half Moon Wall and Aquarium today. A 2.5 hr boat ride from San Pedro to the dive site. I was a little nervous to go that deep having only been to 85' once and only two days previous, but once in the water everything was epic. I ended going to 140'!! The blue hole dive itself isn't that colourful or many sea life but still amazing. The other two dives were full of sea life and great coral walls. After diving went to a "world famous chicken drop" in San Pedro. It was interesting. Buy tickets and hope the chicken shits on your number and you win. Only in Belize.

Nov 19

Happy Garifuna Settlement Day. It’s a national holiday in Belize. There was a big festival in the town square with music ,food and a bike race. I went diving with Amigos Del Mar. First dive was at cypress canyon. The second was at Esmeralda . Juan the guide had a chum tube on a rope and he carried along and we followed and watched the sharks try to get the chum out. Ten to twelve nurse sharks a couple up to 10’ long ; eels ,groupers , angelfish too. Was amazing and a little intimidating at the same time.

Nov 18

Today was the hottest day so far. Went and bought my own snorkel and mask. Darren ,Michelle and I went on a snorkelling tour to shark ray alley. We swam with nurse sharks , rays ,eels and tonnes if other bright fish. Saw a couple big groupers 3' or so. Still at Pedro's but getting bad; no plug ins in the room and the wifi when it works , doesn't reach my room. 👎

Nov 17

I left Rubys hotel and moved into Pedro’s Inn. Quieter place south of the main town ; more backpacker. Darren and I rented a golf cart for the day. We headed to the north end of the island. There’s a lot of island up there ;tonnes of high end resorts in all stages of construction. Some abandoned some just empty because of low season. Pretty creepy. The roads are terrible mostly washed out. We stopped at a bar called the palapa bar. They have tubes in the ocean you can sit in and drink. We drove around town ;all over. Golf cart is the way to get around San Pedro!! At night we went into town and got pulled over for not having headlights. The officer didn’t care about my 2 open beers , but our flashlight headlight wasn’t cutting it I guess.lol Sampled some great street meat tacos.

Left caye caulker this morning. Found some espresso while waiting for the boat 👍 . Met up with friends Darren and Michelle. Darren caught this baby stinger on a hand line as I arrived. First ocean session not too many places to swim on the island. Finally got a little sunshine ⛅️

Arrived in Belize city. Was pouring rain grabbed a cab from the airport to the ferry terminal. Eric a local tour salesman pitched hard while I was waiting for the ferry. Stewed chicken w/rice and beans is a belizean staple and so far my go to @ $4 usd. . When I got to caye caulker I found that both my top accommodation pics from LP (Lonley planet)were no longer in business. Stayed at dirty mcnastys;. and it is just that. $14 usd for a dorm room I’m the only one in the room so thats nice but HUGE ROACHES!!

Exploring Central America

Hola!! I'm going to be backpacking from Mexico to Panama and maybe into South America. I will be surfing,hiking , diving and anything else I can get myself into. Over the next four to six months I will capture my travels on my iPhone 5 and Gopro hero 3 black edition. Im in my last month of prep before this adventure ..... It's getting close I can feel it..... Cheers
