Iāve spent the past 5? days working on this on and off. Full transparency, I did colour pick from my reference - this is my first time doing portraits in 6+ years so Iām just trying to ease back into it <3
reference used is an edited screencap from White Sands. this is literally just ray dolezal with scars and eye bags to be entirely real
~ 2 hours, trying to let myself be looser with colours / brushstrokes. 5 pigment palette again because iāve fallen in love with r5ā²s pigment mixing.

iāve come to realize that all of my art improvement over the past year has been fuelled solely by my desire to see fanart of this guy. for years i neglected to do any studies, gesture sketches, to use references, to push my comfort zone, etc etc - then I realized āoh if i want to see cool fanart of this character, then i have to be the one to make itā and now iām here, like 200 gavs later, having dragged myself out of a long period of art stagnation thanks to it <3
