Literally any other colour would’ve been a better choice guys.
I’d like to point out that the colour red has more positive than negative meanings.
im sorry but this reply absolutely killed me
red can mean whatever the heck you want it to mean, that is never going to change that this straight up looks like they DRAGGED A BLOODY BODY ACROSS THE FUCKING FLOOR 😂
Hi fun fact, colors do have meaning and there is a legit thing called color theory. Red does has more positive connotations than negative like the @mintymaiden said. Red is associated with more love, lust, passion than blood and death just like the chart shows you but If you want, here’s a link for you to check it out yourself. Also, check out “The Designer’s Dictionary of Color” by Sean Adams. Have fun learning something

I think y’all are missing the point here.
You can theorize to Nebraska and back but that doesn’t change my immediate reaction which is that someone is literally dragging a corpse around
I like that the presumption here is that “No One On Tumblr Has Heard of Color Theory, Let Me Explain in Depth” rather than simply acknowledging that the VISUAL EFFECTS of this particular color choice, applied in the manner it was, can still amount to “this is a hospital and that looks like blood”
like, color theory doesn’t exist in a vacuum. If your design of choice for Blood Red Paint is asymmetric splatters and sploches against the wall, or in this case, a snail trail on the hallway’s floor, an infographic won’t override the viewers’ instinct.
this post is the perfect summation of tumblr’s reading comprehension and critical thought abilities

what
As I mentioned to @thelilylav , I think that Suzanne Selfor's works were a sign of the moment when EAH books stopped being fantasy for teens and became a Mattel gadget. And It's rotted in the whitewashing of the story, (not only the colorism towards characters like Briar or Cedar) as approach to writing the story which involves a centrism that erased the class-based political theme that characterised the original series.
Note: Not everything I'm about to say reflects my personal taste on Selfor books (i'm a big fan of A semi-charming Life). It is a compendium of all the narrative choise that were done to lighten the content of the books.
It can essentially be divided into three macro sections:
sugarcoating the pill regarding many destinies. Duchess, and this is said in the first book, is destined to die like, but in NTV it is retconned to a simple "turn into a swan"*. Ginger's mother in TUOTA is clearly an evil woman who tried to eat H&G, but Selfor retconned it to a misunderstanding. By doing so, however, you significantly lower the narrative stakes because the rebels' cause becomes relatively useless. If Ginger doesn't have to do anything in Hansel and Gretel, why would she rebel? If Duchess doesn't die, what's the problem? We're in a magical world, after all, and any fairy godmother could turn her back into a human.
The Decentralization of the Commoners-Rebels: Virtually all of Suzanne Selfor's books focus on the royals. Sure, we still have some rebel characters, but they're all very save and royal options. Darling rebels but is still a princess, Poppy is canonically a centrist. Plus they are both destiny-less so their off the book is not that risky. Ginger is the only rebel who's also poor, but her plot, rather than having that marginalized connotation, revolves around Hopper. Where is Hunter? Where is Cedar? Where are all the characters that had class struggle in the First series. The necessity of rebelling is a more personal thing at this point—Darling's problem isn't about class, but about gender norms
Soft Royal woobification:The royals are canonically the antagonistic class. Even the most open-minded among them is still biased (aka Ashlynn), and rebellion has always been a class thing. But in Selfor's books we have returned to that "Royals and Rebels" as just two nice factions to choose from. In Shannon Hale's, even if we read her PoV, it's clear that Apple is in the wrong because she's classist. In Selfor's books not really, and some of theme actually come out of It more clean than they should. Take for example NTV—sure, it's not the first time Sparrow betrey Duchess, however, in the early versions of their relationship, his betrayal serves as karma for Duchess's classism, (she thinks he's dumb because he's a commoner, but he's smarter than her)+ It's a clever parallel to Swan Lake (if you want i could write about It) Here, however, her being awfull becomes a mere "she was insecure and a perfectionist and she let herself be exploited." **
This post is already long, but I could go on. But essentially, what I'm trying to say is that Suzanne Selfor's books present a much more clean and politically correct Ever After High that favors the princess aesthetic over the fairy tale deconstruction narrative that the original series gave us.
i believe that the three acceptable characterizations for Sparrow are either lamest man ever with awful fashion taste who sucks at everything, super cool genderfucky punk, or really lame genderfucky punk who sucks at everything.
I break my silence: Blondie ,and to some extension Cupid, could have work better as a negative/minor antagonist character. i mean, the show use her being a tabloide as a "nosey gossip girl" endering way. Meanwhile i would actually made her a threat for the main rebles, since she has no moral compasse because "It's just business,i want a good story to tell". Hence Cupid being on her side and sometimes Blondie wants some scandal and she just go "ehi Cup',i need to make Hopper kiss Daring so we can queerbait the audience". Ofc they black mail their classmates
i really wish we had more blondie-centric content... like, as a kid i didn't like her that much bc she was always getting into everybody's business without actually seeming to care about people themselves (which i don't think is necessarily true--the webisode where she "helps" Raven with her date made me rethink her--and there may be more instances that i just don't remember or haven't read about, such as in the Suzanne Selfors books).
this girl who tries so hard to fit a label she doesn't think she belongs in... i'm not sure if it was ever confirmed exactly why? i can guess--for sure, she probs wants to be tight with the cool kids and idk she kinda radiates the vibes of being proud that she's "officially" besties with the most popular girls in school--but there could have been more to it that would have been so interesting to explore. she clearly does not want to be a Royal because she's madly in love with her story; it's definitely for status and social reasons. plus my girl is a career woman
i think at her core blondie might have had the potential to be one of the most relatable characters in the series, for a variety of reasons, and it's a shame they didn't develop it more in canon.
the groupwork in my ap class is so silly bcus i do all the work but the other girls will randomly start singing songs from wicked and radiohead so it all works out ig
Since Taylor Swift Is real in the Ever After High universe,(Taylor Quick),that's mean only one thing (the post Is based off for the one who wonders)

all goofing aside I don't understand the urge to reimagine Taylor Allispell Quick as a secret Rebel whom supports the rebels movement when the rebel alliance is literally like overflowing with famouse women supporting the Rebels™. Yaga and King$ha and Milady and Hexey are right there. like what are we doing here. like I'm not even saying you can't like Taylor but why would you hang all your hopes of taking down the destiny sistem on her.

Isn't Lady Yaga a witch?

Hence why I put her in the list of famous villains daughters who are in the rebel alliance?
