𝚈𝙴𝚂, 𝙸'𝙼 𝙼𝙸𝚂𝚂 𝙿𝙾𝚂𝚂𝙴𝚂𝚂𝙸𝚅𝙴, 𝙿𝚁𝙴𝚃𝚃𝚈 𝙶𝙸𝚁𝙻 𝙶𝙾𝙽' 𝙻𝙴𝙰𝚁𝙽 𝚈𝙾𝚄𝚁 𝙻𝙴𝚂𝚂𝙾𝙽
ayla blake kicked off the weekend with the release of “miss possessive,” the first single from her highly anticipated sophomore album digital angel — and if we didn't have questions before, we certainly do now. the music video features toronto maple leafs defenseman milo kang, her rumored boyfriend and very possible real‑life muse, looking extremely at home in her orbit. between the steamy close‑ups and their increasingly public sightings (yes, believe me, we’ve seen all of your dms), fans are convinced this relationship has officially leveled up. no confirmation from either camp yet, but if the music video no one has been able to stop playing is any indication . . . something is definitely happening.
“ maybe the problem is that you're going around telling people you're my girlfriend when you know that you're not . i ignored it at first , but it's gotten real old , real fucking fast . ”

—— “ you shouldn’t be here, ” she cracks the front door behind her stepping out to speak to him, “ are you doing a victory lap to show off your championship ring or something? ” she told herself that if they ever met eyes again she’d know exactly what to say, she would be gracious, kill him with kindness … but time was a cruel mistress. she was bitter, and had every right to be her train of thought immediately cut off as a little girl pokes her head through the crack in the door, softening her demeanor to the woman he once knew, “ baby, i told you to go play with your sister, i’ll be in soon, i promise. ” she fully closes the door behind her, meeting his intrigued gaze, “ don’t give me that look max, it’s none of your business, okay? you’d know who they are if you actually decided to stick around, are we done here? ”
—— takes a seat on the front porch steps, his body basically indented into the wood beams he grew up and into, doesn’t take long before he’s lighting up his first cigarette for the day, leaning back in his spot as he exhales. in the cloud of smoke he completely misses the vehicle he hasn’t seen in eons, to a seven year old denver it was freedom, the furthest he ever got from town, and the closest he’s ever gotten to leaving. but, here he stayed on the same worn out front porch steps. the car door shuts, and his attention immediately shifts, eliciting a boisterous laugh he thought lost in his youth. “ well, i’ll be damned, as i live and breathe, ” lets out another exhale on his last word, finally standing to dust himself off, still wants to look presentable to the stranger whose laugh he could recognize anywhere, “ c’mon you can get closer. i ain’t gonna bite. ”

it feels almost a little ridiculous, how easy it is for him to make her laugh, but she giggles anyways, giving him a playful eye roll before her grin brightens further. “ you're ridiculous, ” she teased softly, before feeling color rise up in her cheeks at the compliment and his question. admittedly, it had been in her plans, but she wasn't about to tell him that. “ oh, i dunno. think you gotta tell me who your good luck charm is first, and then maybe i'll consider it. ” she's being a tease and she knows it, the smile on her face shifting to match his own. she knows the answer — she's made him say it more times than she can even count, an almost desperate sort of reminder that she means as much to him as he does to her, but she'd never been subtle when it came to him. steps closer, hand moving to reach up, thumb brushing gently underneath his eye as her grin only widens more.
—— ayla had brought out a side of him that rarely saw the light of day, he’d garnered a reputation on and off the ice for being ‘ pompous ’ & ‘ self - important ’ , and that was just for a single remark made to a reporter ages ago. but here, in the comfort of her presence he could be ridiculous, could revel in the growing warmth of her cheeks, “ consider it? i can’t even a guarantee? even if i tell you that you’re my good luck charm, that you’re my pretty little princess? ” he looks around to the dispersing crowd, only a few stragglers remaining, “ just so everyone knows ayla blake is my pretty princess and my good luck charm! ” unfazed by the puzzled stares he receives, he could care less who knows how deeply entrenched he in his love for her. he flinches only slightly when gentle touch finds him, “ come on, what do i have to do to see how pretty you look wearing only my jersey? ”
" stop lying to yourself , charlie ; think you forgotten how well i could read you. . lips might be sayin' one thing, but your eyes still want me. " tests the theory by reaching out, thumb light caressing her cheek .
—— “ god, could you be any more predictable? the only thing that i want is for you to leave, ” the vitriol falling from her lips doesn’t meet her eyes, which light up at his touch, “ i hate you. ”
it's been a month since she last seen him, since that night they called things off. a part of her wishes she can turn back time, tell him that she didn't mean it; but her pride gets in her way. " honestly ? i don't think i'll ever love anyone the way i did you. " unconditionally, wholeheartedly. . . and still those feelings haven't changed. " i saw a future with you, after not seeing one for myself . "
—— the last time they had stood face to face they were mourning a love that was still alive, he can feel its erratic pulse when she meets his eye, “ you were my first love, ” when asked that question in the press he’d lied and said it was something cliche like reading, but it had always been her. it will always be her, “ i … i just hope that you’re happy, you deserve that at least. ”
" pleasures all mine , " flashes her a charming grin -- winning her trust was going to be easier than he expected. blowing out the cloud of smoke in the other direction as his brow quirks, " i do . . . but something about you gives off i don't smoke , but willin' to give you a puff of my own ? "
—— she’d always been the idealist of her castmates, far too willing to trust a stranger and detail whatever happened next for the cameras, but something about this felt softer, more real. she was more than happy to have someone who didn’t ask for an autograph in the first five seconds, “ okay, you caught me. i don’t actually smoke, but maybe you can teach me? ”
" like i'd ever skip a night with you, alone. . . your sister just took forever to fall asleep, " was quick to climb into bed with him , arms wraps around his bare chest. " i can think of a good way , starting with me straddling on your lips with mine. "
—— he was happy to have her even in secret, especially in secret, wrapping one arm around her waist as she speaks, “ just looking for any excuse you can for me to put my mouth on you, huh? ” he smirks before pressing his lips softly into hers.
—— she stumbles towards the streetlight looking for some semblance of gravity, the world spins around her, it’s both nauseating and debilitatingly beautiful, “ no, stop i’m fine, ” she swats away strong hands, still trying to keep up appearances in her altered state, and then she catches their eye. what’s only a fleeting moment feels like an eternity, and the world stands still, “ hey, your eyes have a little green in them. ”
