I'm gonna keep talking to you because you are nice and considerate enough to talk to me rationally and maturely. What you have to say is interesting. Okay, I think I am beginning to understand what you are saying In which case, I concur. You're theory isn't stupid. Though it is possible that they are still testing bubbline, and that's why it's not really accepted in ooo. Well, it could be accepted in ooo, but in secret. Pen wants to tell the story he wants. Which is something I like. But I only like that trait. that quality is important, but I stop watching if the logic is different. I like the past cannon idea too. Princess bubblegum is a scientist, and it's rare to see independent women on t.v and in movies. But, I really like them together too. I'm so conflicted. the reason why I'm not responding accordingly is because you're right. the topic is outdated. But, you're also fun. Although, I wouldn't be disappointed if bubblegum did get back together with Marceline, (if the were together). Independence is great, but being a slave to anything is horrible. Unless, of course, that's what she likes. then, nevermind. But, I'm not sure if she wants to be a slave to her science and the kingdom all the time. I want to see independence, but it's not really independence if you're a slave to anything. . . I want someone who can handle herself, but also doesn't answer to shackles. So, I guess that's why I like bubbline. It has all the factors I like. There is a woman who CAN work, but doesn't always need to, there is love, and it's with another girl so it seems less sexist. Not that being straight is sexist. Because it's not. It's just more comfortable. Oh god, I'm not able to project myself well anymore. But, do you know what I mean? And many pardons for this response not being in compliance to your prior one. I'm overly eager, I guess. Even though I agree to a degree, I disagree to a certain level too.
...Honestly Im very confused at what exactly youre trying to tell me uh.
I dont think they are "testing" Bubbline, like you said Pen Ward is telling the story the way he wants. There has been NO evidence that a homosexual relationship wouldnt be accepted in Ooo, there are confirmed homosexual characters in the show even. The lack of canon Bubbline has NOTHING to do with Oooian nor real world sociopolitical agendas. If PB and Marce ever decided to get together, no one in-universe would be upset. (Over just the sexuality at least, Finn might be jealous over his lingering crush, or Hunson doesnt want his kid involved in other kingdoms politics and drags her back to the nightosphere, you know, other stuff.) This show has a genderfluid robot as a main character. Its brilliantly forward-thinking. That isnt the issue with bubbline.
The issue with (present day) bubbline is the characterization of the two involved parties not being compatible with a traditional romantic relationship. That can change, obviously, but it hasnt yet.
One of PBs main character traits is her devotion to her kingdom, and I would be sad to see that pushed aside for a romance, with Marce or Finn or anyone. There has to be very strong reasons for her to get involved with romance, and I doubt Marce could give good enough reasons. Neither can Finn.
I dont understand what youre going on about with sexism? Im not really the best with explaining myself either so I forgive you haha. It doesnt seem like youre actively disagreeing with me. When you say the topic is outdated, thats not what I meant. I meant that the post about Bubbline I made that lead you here is an outdated representation of MY personal opinions.
I dont know if youve messaged other adventure time analysts, Im not nearly involved in the fandom as others. Adventuretitan is the one I know the most about. If you go to her blog and read up on her analysis and click on people she reblogs and read their analysis, youll get a lot more insight than I can give you. Try giving people 1-2 sentence asks on really specific things. Theyll be more likely to reply because its kinda hard to tackle a whole paragraph. I really appreciate this though, thank you!!
