knight!dean who knew deep down he shouldn’t get attached. his job was to protect you— to keep you out of harms way. it was meant to be a strictly a professional relationship, but dean was dean. he’d burn the kingdom down before letting anyone lay a hand on you.

knight!dean who adores his horse, babe. he tends to the trusty steed like he’d personally given birth to her.

knight!dean who takes you on the occasional ride around the grounds, either letting you hold onto him from behind or walking beside the animal as you steered her yourself.

knight!dean whose gaze lingers on you a moment too long when he’s simply meant to be keeping watch of the surroundings. he stays just a few feet away during most royal functions.

knight!dean who despises all of your suitors; he doesn’t want to tell himself that his shoulders got tight from jealousy sometimes rather than vigilance. though, of course, he unfortunately knew that a prince is who you were destined to be with.

knight!dean who doesn’t talk about his younger brother much, but his tone is fond when it happens. samuel worked happily as a craftsman.

knight!dean who catches the eyes of townspeople with his freckles and pretty lashes when you don’t want to be cooped up in the castle. you can’t help the way your jaw works when women’s eyes track him longer than necessary.

knight!dean who treats his weapons like they’re sacred. he cleans his blades every night without fail.

knight!dean who leaves things around your quarters for you to find: a wildflower tucked between book pages, an old locket he bribed a maiden to give him on your pillow, an extra dinner plate snuck to you.

knight!dean who has a favorite loitering spot after particularly bad patrols. it consists of him, a flask he isn’t supposed to have, and the sound of nothing.

knight!dean who gets reckless the few times you’re actually in danger— taking hits he doesn’t need to and muttering some excuse after the fact.

knight!dean who finally cracks one late night on your balcony, admitting in a low voice that he knows his place yet fell for you despite it all. you didn’t see him vulnerable very often.

eddie didn’t do soft. his whole existence ran around heavy metal and a fantasy game— so when he found himself smitten with a girl who religiously listened to madonna and squealed at baby bunnies, he figured the universe was playing a joke on him.

you’d show up to hellfire sessions with a pink scrunchie and a container of homemade cookies, cheering the loudest when his campaign took a particularly creative twist. you chose to sit cross-legged on an amp while he practiced, humming along even when the riffs were too heavy for your taste.

he’d never admit it, but he always let you play with his hair behind closed doors whether it was just twirling the strands or braiding it. pampering him was your guilty pleasure; you’d put eyeliner on him before gigs at the hideout once or twice.

turns out the freak and the girl who liked glittery pens fit together just fine.
