When I was in middle school I found Taylor Swift when listening to the radio. I really liked her songs, and then one day I was having trouble at school. My “friends” stopped talking to me. I would go to sit with them at lunch and they would put their bags in seats. I ended up sitting in my music teachers room alone and eating lunch. My parents were also going through a divorce at the time and I was really alone. The only person I could turn to was Taylor Swift. She went through the same things I did in middle school. It made me not feel so alone. Then, when I was 11 I had spine surgery for scoliosis. I had a really hard recovery, but I never gave up. That’s when I turned to writing my own songs. The first song I learned on guitar was “Breathe”. Taylor got me through middle school and high school. She got me through my first love and my first heartbreak. Her first album came out when I was in middle school. Her second two were when I was in high school. And now, her last album 1989 came out as I was moving into college. I picked my life up out of a small shore town in Jersey and moved all by myself to the Big Apple. So, “Welcome to New York” really meant a lot for me. I got myself out of a toxic relationship and I could love myself and just be me. I am so happy now, and I have Taylor to thank for literally narrating my life! So Taylor, thank you so much!!
