If you like post-comeback Alysa Liu, you also need to be watching Sofia Samodelkina.

If you want to like Alysa but are finding her over-hyped, you really need to be watching Sofia Samodelkina. And that clip of Amber Glenn after Sofia's Olympic free where she is standing up out of the leader's chair and gesturing and yelling "GET UP! GET UP!"

going off-script and off-topic for a hot minute

I am dealing with a personal/family crisis that has a lot of elements of Being Exhausted and a lot of elements of Hurry Up And Wait! and as a result I don't know if I'm going to be hyperfocus-level buried in fandom stuff or if I'm going to do a lot of "set that aside due to crisis mode" while missing the hell out of it. The prior iteration of a similar crisis was made SO MUCH BETTER by falling into the Shailinin rabbit hole and I am very much still here. So there's that.

Just...holyfuck this sucks this sucks so much and I am tired.

RPF entirely aside, this generation of star NHL players very publicly having the kind of close, meaningful relationships that they do and being allowed to be human is so important to me and so important to this lowkey cesspool of a sport improving.

There is absolutely a time not that long ago when Will and Mack would have shut down their public interactions and Seth Jarvis' buddies would have been a novelty that was treated as a semi-joke and not a genuinely sweet human interest story during the Finals. Matthew Schaefer being openly still affected by his mom's death would have made him soft.

I've been a hockey fan for a long ass time and while the Carter Hart of it all is very unfortunately still alive and well, I can't ignore that the vibes are getting very different now in a way that means a lot to me.

I'm so sorry, and yet... (fic update)

So apparently Alexei has some things to say about the last chapter of the main story (and so does Tatiana over the phone to Alexei), so I've added it to look in three directions.

This one's rough for the same reasons the main one is and has additional references to Alexei having needed to intervene when a grown-ass man who should've known better started coming on to a teenager.

This is very messy and not fun but at least this far-flung chosen family has each other, yeah?

So I've seen the clips from the Peak Ice show of (what I'm pretty sure is) Misha's new short program. And I am thrilled.

If I could've picked out anything it would have probably been a reworking of The Storm into a competitive program. This isn't quite that but the style in the clips has elements of what I liked about The Storm mixed with (the bits I saw of) a choreo sequence that reminds me of classic Urmanov. Which...YES PLEASE.

And bonus enjoyment: I love Nika's Pulp Fiction already. It's SO FUN.
