♛a prince without his kingdom — {Jehanne
"Perhaps that is something I should be inquiring myself," vocables brimming with minute joy.
Truly she did not believe in such a merciless God, one who would dangle trickery before her eyes. To know that the very prince she had grown so fond of in times past was physically here was but a blessing and a curse all in one. Somehow, if it was within her power, she would like to return him to his proper home — to keep him so selfishly from his family for the sake of being reunited, that was something she could not bear to think of doing.
"As I have to you, my prince," her lips curling into a tender smile. An expression of friendship, something she had thought she lost due to her very existence. "To see that you must suffer such a fate… it would make me the saddest creature. I pray you will take my offer of housing, e’en if it be temporal." For she had done her best to safeguard him before, her loyalty unwavering once it was bestowed upon another. Gauntlet hands took gloved fingers into her own, eager to proffer such a place where she may continue to protect him if he would so have her.
Hearkening his inquiry of her stay, she did well to remember how long she had been within the walls of this hazardous setting. "Five months, if my recollections are accurate… it is difficult to comprehend such time having passed with little regard," her tone carrying a more solemn tone than her previous statements. Little had been accomplished, only regaining few of her sealed potency back despite all her efforts.
Silence ensued for a brief moment, the humming of cars and crowds almost but a faint hum to her as she contemplated. It would be a lie to say that these words she was to utter were not painful, to declare she would want them to be parted again. They were her genuine feelings, however, something she believed the crimson prince would hopefully grasp the true meaning.
"I pray… that your stay is not so prolonged as my own."
His heart was full to burst with this reunion. Though the circumstances were less than desired by either of the two blondes, this moment was not to be forgotten. The prince garbed in red offered a slight smile to her words, thankful for her unending kindness towards him. Her presence was truly a blessing for him, or perhaps a guiding light as she always appeared bathed in it to his eyes. Usually, to a high and mighty prince such as himself, he often didn't compliment others as much as he inwardly did towards Jehanne. There were those he did care for and would shower in affection, his wife, his brother - but rarely anyone outside of his family. He would respect others to a degree, but for one such as him to lavish another the way he did towards her, it was truly astounding.
Ah, but he digressed in this train of thought.
Clasping her hands with his own in return, he as humbly as he could, accepted her offer of boarding. This was a large weight off his burdened heart -- he didn't want to think of the scientist given quarters would entail and thanks to this true saint, he wouldn't have to. A relieved exhale sounded prior to a curious expression and accompanying tilt of his head. She had been in this place for that long?
❝Even while we were parted, my fair saint, I cannot fathom our time away from one another was such a long period.❞
It almost felt as if he had blinked and she was gone, blinked again and she was here. He wasn't entirely certain what to make of everything, of all these places and times that he could not understand. At least the one before him, he could understand to a degree. She was a comfort, a great one, to the royal blood. She was a home to him, in a sense. Which is most likely why he did not feel nearly as panicked as he had upon arrival.
Just as he had this notion however, Jehanne spoke again. Spoke of a hope for the prince to leave this place while she would remain trapped here. At least this is what he inferred and while he appreciated her sentiment as he would like to return home, likewise, he did not wish for her to linger here. He gave her armored hands a light squeeze before pulling his own back to his sides. He knew he could not sway her to say or think otherwise, nor would he want her to change what she had said, it was not her way, he believed.
At the very least, he could say this much.
❝If I am to leave this place soon, I would hope that you as well would be granted freedom.❞
❝My dear saint, while I am here and you are as well, I'll have to ask for a tour of this kingdom sometime. For now, I humbly request if you may show me where it is you take residence.❞
