Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
I think for me, one of the (many fuck yeah positivity!) reasons this fight works so well is the pure brutality and viciousness of it. Every punch, every strike, each slam to the ground, you can almost feel it yourself. And to see Clark so overpowered that not only can he not retaliate he can barely even defend himself from the onslaught, it’s painful. It’s a painful vulnerability we’ve not seen before (despite everything he’s been through up to this point) and a complete reversal of expected dynamics between these two and basically kudos to everyone involved in the creation and execution of (imo) one of the most powerful and impactful scenes of the dceu.

“WELL, I should hope that being followed causes some discomfort. Enjoyment in it would lead me to believe that the subject has a large spot of narcissism about them. I should let you know that you’re one of the harder men to catch.” It was becoming quite difficult, honestly, to do this whole follow and investigate bit, and for one good reason: she doesn’t have the same resources that she once did, back when she was Director of SHIELD. She’s been Agent 13 for a while now, and while some days it’s thrilling, other days, it’s just plain frustrating.
She holds her hands out, palms-up. It is late at night, dark, and the city has gone to sleep. She wants him to see that she has nothing on her with which harm could be caused; that’s actually not even on her list of things to do tonight. “I just have a few questions for you, is all. I think you’re in danger – we’re all in danger.”
❝ You don’t need to do that, ❞ he says as she shows her palms; he can already see she doesn’t have anything dangerous to him on her. Most weapons aren’t dangerous to him regardless, but her intent to show him that she means him no harm is appreciated, even if he doesn’t want her to feel like he’s someone who needs placating. Powerful though he is, Clark is slow to anger, and even slower to use any of that power against someone else.
Her final statement does draw a tense sigh from between his lips, however. If there’s genuine danger, his assistance is hers, but there is always a chance that not everything is as it seems. She APPEARS genuine enough, at least.
❝ ---------Well, apparently you know how evasive I can be. ❞ And, in that regard, she’s only scratched the surface. But what he keeps secret, he does so mostly for the safety of his family. If what she wants to know doesn’t interfere with that, then they’ll be fine. ❝ But I’ll answer what I can. Ask your questions. ❞

“ please don’t take this as a threat. ” piercing eyes raise to meet his, giving away no hint as to what she could be talking about. natasha was the avengers’ talker, political or not. it was only right that she had been sent to speak with clark.
❝ If I feel threatened, you’ll know it. ❞ Her gaze is met, unwaveringly--- his is something like a warning, because despite his usual demeanor, he has no desire to be TOYED with. He’s very much willing to shut down any games, if they’re being played. Still, he’ll listen, for now. ❝ Saying things like that doesn’t do a lot to inspire trust though. ❞
In my Marvel verse, Clark can be written in any timeline;
If you’re going really early, then just like in the dceu, he’s just a guy who moves from place to place, holding down odd jobs until he inadvertently exposes himself, or believes he will be exposed, and he moves on.
I’d say, in a Marvel setting, the events on MoS (when the last surviving Kryptonians attack, and Metropolis is wrecked) take place after the events of the first Avengers movie. Whether or not any of the Avengers get involved would depend on plotting, but things in Metropolis essentially turn out the same regardless (and especially by default; Clark ends up facing off with Zod and although Zod is defeated, it’s at a cost to both Clark and the city as a whole.
The events of BvS actually take place at around the same time as Civil War, although they conclude after what we see on screen in CW. Amid great stress in the (super)hero community, Clark has his own smaller feud with the Bat of Gotham. If Clark is truly confronted or backed into a corner in some way by an Avenger or whoever and made to officially choose sides with the whole Accords thing, he would choose ‘team Cap,’ bluntly put. Because he’s all for cooperation, the accords feel more like government control, and he refuses to be a tool for any government to wield for their agendas. Unless put in a corner, though, he will essentially live out his life in the same way he does during BvS--- but, if contacted, he may provide aid to the team Cap folks, up to or after the climax of CW. The climactic events of BvS, including Clark’s death, will occur some time relatively shortly after what we see happen in CW. At which point, Clark is obviously out of the picture.
Until his resurrection. Details of which may vary depending on plot? This bit I haven’t actually gotten all that well figured out in a Marvel crossover verse, because the whole reason it was thought he should be revived is because the JL wasn’t enough to stop the threat in that universe--- in a crossover verse, there would already be several extremely powerful people who could assemble to take on that threat.
Regardless, Clark will be alive and ready to defend the planet by the time Infinity War rolls around. Naturally, he’s needed some time to recover from his death and the experience of being brought back, so at this point he’s likely staying more low key than before, and to the world at large, Superman being alive again is still just a rumor. However, of course Thanos has heard of the Kryptonian living on Earth, and thus he went through great pains to arm his Black Order with Kryptonite sidearms and other such weapons. Small as they are, they’re enough to keep Superman at bay, meaning he’s an ineffective weapon against fighting the Black Order, though he definitely gives it a go. Instead, he mostly focuses his power on helping keep the Avengers from being overwhelmed by the sheer numbers they face.
In the end, the snap occurs, and Superman survives, unless plotted otherwise. To him, it seems the world has become far more quiet, yet the noises he hears are all of distress. Naturally, he checks on his loved ones--- he never finds his mother. Grief-stricken, but knowing the whole world has suffered losses like his, he pledges himself to aid in Thanos’ wake.
This is all just a basic outline specifically for more loose unplotted stuff. If ever you wanna do like... Civil War stuff but with pre-MoS Clark or whatever, chances are I’ll be down if you talk to me about it.

❝ You know, some people might not take being followed too well. ❞ Admittedly, it concerns him, but it’s not the first time this sort of thing has been a passing issue ( what with SHIELD’s habit of trying to investigate anything and anyone not baseline human ), and he’s nowhere near home, so there’s no immediate threat to his family. Still, he watches her carefully, wondering how she’ll take being called out. ❝ Most don’t, actually. People tend to find it a little unsettling. ❞ Arms cross, but his look gives no indication of a lack of PATIENCE.

The Man of Steel touches down, a tad more unsteady than is usual for him, and for the briefest moment, he STRUGGLES. Alone, he allows himself the moment. When he hears the approach of another, it’s over; he turns to greet his new company, surprise drawing his brows together. Red, with devil’s horns. Clark has heard of this one. ❝ You must be the Devil the people here talk about. ❞ The statement is given somewhat pleasantly, all things considered--- everything he’s heard of Daredevil is good, and so there’s a fair bit of curiosity biting at him, though he’ll keep it on a leash for now. ❝ Or am I mistaken? ❞
