I decided to have a Halloween party during each of my classes this week. Halloween isn’t celebrated in China, so my students were excited to experience the holiday. I encouraged them to dress up and many of them wore cool costumes. We played games like pin the tail on the black cat, ate candy, read scary stories, and had a costume contest.

Hey guys. For my nutrition class I have to write a paper over the career I want. For those that don’t know, I’m wrapping up my second year at a university and picking up both summer classes and a full time job so I can jump on this opportunity to intern in Nicaragua for a year ASAP. I plan to get started by regrouping with my beloved Edventurers for my first month and then settling into a semipermanent workshop that educates people on what nutrition is and how to effectively nourish your body from there.

Anyways, I have been doing research on the topic and found an article about a woman that took a similar path. She got her degree, finished her internship, and then joined the Peace Corps and got positioned in western Africa to work with malnourished women and children. She teaches them the symptoms of particular deficiencies and how to improve on them. Her work has made a great impact on prenatal health in the region and I adore the way she promotes human life.

There are many ways to step beyond your typical boundaries and make whatever makes you passionate shine for the greater good. Pretty soon I will be mentioning my friend Megan and how she had put faith and music into making a difference in Australia.

Finally took the plunge and completed my “hair transformation” and got to fight animal cruelty at the same time. :)

Balayage with purple rain by Arctic Fox, an awesome VEGAN product and the longest lasting semi on the market. And it smelled like grapes!! This company donates 15% of all profits to fight animal cruelty. So seriously, check them out!

The roots and highlights were done with a brand I don’t currently remember… But we mixed two tubes of their canteloupe with one of their blood orange.

More than anyone, children bear the brunt of regular Israeli military assaults on the Gaza Strip. During the 51-day war in the summer of 2014, 551 children were killed and 3,436 were injured. But these gruesome figures say little about the psychological state of the nearly 800,000 children who have survived the periodic bombing campaigns. After the final cease-fire that ended Israel’s Operation Protective Edge on August 26 of last year, UNICEF estimated that at least 425,000 Palestinian children in the besieged Gaza Strip require “immediate psychosocial and child protection support.”

Idea for couples:

When you have the impulse to buy something nice for your significant other, check the price, take that money, put it aside. When you utilize a discount together, take the money you saved, put it aside. When you want to take them out for a fancy meal, have fun experimenting in the kitchen instead, take the money you saved, put it aside. When you want to cover the cost of something but they insist on doing it themselves, take that money anyways, but put it aside.

As the relationship continues, you two may not accumulate many new possessions from each other, and you may have to do dishes a bit more often… But when you look back at all you put aside, you will quickly realize that what you’re holding is much more valuable. What you’re holding is the ability to escape with your love. Take a trip, explore somewhere new, create memories, and receive something worth much more than any of those things you almost bought.
