TELL ME I'M WRONG THOUGH
ellis has one of those locked photo albums on her phone and everyone is like Lol what is that... nudes? and she's like Wouldn't you like to know 😏 in reality it's her collection of photos that violate hipaa laws
I don’t particularly like the way Rachel Reid writes Shane, but to me the most egregious thing she’s done is use sexual assault allegations as a plot device to give Troy Barrett a redemption arc without ever forcing him to reckon with how much hurt he caused during his friendship with Dallas.
Troy spends more time in Role Model talking about slow cookers than he does apologising to the people he hurt, but the book constantly downplays how much he bullied people because at least he never assaulted any women like Dallas Kent did.
Victims of sexual assault are used as a cushion to protect the image of a man and to validate his good character, while never being given even the decency of a name by the author. Sure, Rachel can write what she wants, but I can still think that what she writes is bad.
I need someone who dislikes JJ to explain why Troy Barrett is allowed to apologise for his past and redeem himself, but JJ isn’t allowed to be forgiven for suggesting Shane tripped on purpose, something he only asked once and immediately accepted Shane’s answer on.
Troy was friends with a literal rapist, and he admits that he bullied people throughout his career at Toronto. In my opinion, that’s infinitely worse than what JJ did, yet no one seems to hold Troy’s past actions against him.
