2:07 A.M. ― Eunji&Ryo

It’s definitely something.

He’s just barely imagining something to do with his parents before he’s ripped from any chance at unconsciousness by a blinding light. That’s his light, he realizes slowly, and he wasn’t the one to turn it on. There are two full seconds where he thinks he’s in Poltergeist, and then the voice starts.

Surprise. Yeah, this is a great surprise.

“People that’ve been up since God know’s when?” If he remembers right, he woke up around nine a.m. (the previous morning) and has been going strong ever since.

But he’s a sucker for her laugh and he twists around so he can see her face just in time to be sat on. It’s not entirely uncomfortable - she’s light and he’s solid. His hands find her thighs and he’s maybe a little too comfortable here.

Her eyes are on him. It feels good - this is what he wants from everyone.

He’s not too distracted to hear what she’s proposing; slowly the sleep starts to fade from him, leaves him attentive and calculating. Have they broken laws before? He has, but to his knowledge, she hasn’t. This is going to be interesting, to say the least.

“Alright, alright. You got it, Jagiya.” He mirrors her expression. “Wouldn’t want to disappoint you. What do you have in mind?”

It’s an afterthought when he adds “And can we lift a can of energy before we do it?”

“God isn’t the only one who knows when, because I’m pretty sure I’ve been up since like 4 A.M. a day or two ago.” For a moment she looks like she’s thinking, then she changes her answer. “Actually, you might be right, because now that I think about it, I’m not sure.” Another small laugh bubbles up through her lips and a sigh follows.

“I was hoping you would be up for some fun. I didn’t have a Plan B so I’m pretty glad you said yes.” What she says is true, she hadn’t really thought about what she would’ve done if Ryo had turned her down and sent her away for the night. Perhaps she didn’t have a second plan because she is familiar enough with Ryo well enough to know the chances of that happening were very slim, or maybe she just didn’t think it through, but right now all that matters is having a good time. “I don’t care what we lift to be honest. Isn’t the rule with illegal activities ‘go big or go home’? Then again I’ve never done anything like this anyway.” Eunji smiles and tilts her head as she actually thinks of an answer to his question.

“I could go for a movie and some snacks, so we could pick up your energy drink then. Plus all the movie theaters are closed up for the night, but I guess that would be part of the adventure if you’re up for it.”

2:07 A.M. ― Eunji&Ryo

It’s late - later than he’d expected it to be. he hadn’t been paying attention to the clock when he went out, but it was probably around seven. And now it’s two, and he’s exhausted. The lure of his bed and the promise of a comfortable night’s sleep is enough to draw him back home.

The elevator is empty when he reaches it - rightly so at this hour - and his short trip up to his floor is silent. It’s almost unnerving, after the loud, thrumming crowd of the club he’s just left. It grates against his very existence, makes him antsy. When the doors open, he can’t get out fast enough.

There’s no resistance when he goes to turn the key, but he doesn’t notice. The door swings open and he’s greeted with a dark entryway. The whole place is too dark to really see in, but he’s navigated it enough times to know where it’s safe to step. It’s almost like he’s on autopilot as he makes his way over to the bed along the far wall.

Shoes come off, but not fast enough, and he almost trips over them. His face hits the mattress and he breathes a large sigh of relief. Bed.

It takes a second to gather the rest of his body up onto the blankets but it’s worth it - this is a lot more comfortable than laying half on the floor. A tired groan, and he’s set for sleep.

Still, something pricks at the back of his mind. Even in the darkness, he could tell that something was out of place when he walked in. Something is wrong. But he ignores it. he’s just been watching too many scary movies recently, is all.  He’d feel the hair stand up on the back of his neck if the wind blew too hard against the window. It’s nothing.

Not much time passes between Ryo opening the door and his face hitting the pillow. Eunji almost lets out a small chuckle, but holds it in so the surprise isn’t ruined early. A few silent minutes pass, which seem like forever for someone as impatient as herself, but she endures them.

When she gets tired of waiting, she reaches up and tugs on a small chain of a lamp, quickly flooding the bedroom with light. “Surprise!” Eunji laughs, crossing her legs and waiting for a response. “Who the hell sleeps at-” She brings her wrist up to look at her watch. “Who the hell sleeps at two o’clock in the morning? What a boring thing to do.” Her lips quickly form a pout as she stands up. “And here I was thinking you were exciting. How could you betray me like this, Ryo?” A dramatic tone invades her words and her pout breaks a bit as a laugh bubbles up in her throat. “I had faith in you.” 

Of course, her words are completely sarcastic, and she ends them with a soft laugh before jumping on top of the other and laying across him. “I’m bored.” She groans and yawns. “Let’s go do something.” A devious smile twists her lips and it’s fairly obvious that her thoughts are not innocent ones. “Let’s go do something illegal.” Her eyes sparkle with excitement and she flops over Ryo again. “Come on! Get up and come rob a bank or something with me! Don’t leave me hanging like this man.” She grumbles, ducking her head right in front of his face. “No sleeping tonight. I forbid it.”

2:07 A.M. ― Eunji&Ryo

The food sucks, and so does everything else about this place, but one can’t expect much out of a 5,600 won meal and a run down fast food joint. The lighting looks like something straight out of a horror movie and there are long cracks in the paint on the walls and for a moment, Eunji regrets even eating the food she’d paid for. If the eating area looked like this, then what must the kitchen look like? She shakes her head and decides it’s best not to think about it any longer. Some outdated song begins to play over the speakers, and it does nothing to solve the intense boredom plaguing her mind. If anything, it worsens it to the point of making it nearly unbearable. 

With a groan, Eunji brings herself to her feet and wads all of her trash into a ball and tosses it into the trashcan across the room. She smiles, lifts her jacket from the back of her chair, and picks up her drink to head for the door. After a few more sips, she throws the cup away as well and walks outside. There is nothing to do at this time of night, but sleeping is boring. Why waste precious time laying in a bed doing nothing? After all, time is short, and she doesn’t feel comfortable wasting even a few minutes. She looks around and throws her jacket over her shoulder, attempting to think of something to do. 

A smile comes to her face when she remembers that her friend Ryo lives in this area. He might not be home yet, but she could probably catch him when he does come home if she hurries. She walks to the end of the sidewalk and makes a right, already plenty familiar with the path to her destination. 

Fifteen minutes later, she’s standing in front of the door to Ryo’s apartment with no key. She has her ways, however, no matter how devious and illegal they might be. Luckily, she has quite a few bobby pins in her hair to hold her bangs back, so she removes one and snaps it in half. Eunji bends one half at a ninety degree angle and slips it into the bottom of the lock, then slips the straight half into the top and works it around in the direction it would usually unlock. After a couple of minutes, the lock is undone and the door is open. 

Ryo is nowhere to be found, and after calling his name a few times, she decides to just wait it out. She flicks off the lights and takes a seat in the darkest corner of the apartment. A devious grin tugs at the corners of her lips when she thinks about his reactions. Hopefully, he wouldn’t freak out too badly when she made her presence known, but she'd cross that bridge when she came to it. For now, all there was to do was wait, unfortunately.
