If you haven't tried The Red Hot hotdog joint on 6th Ave you really should. They serve a space cowboy that is out of this world. Root beer with nitro coffee floated on top. (at RedHot Tacoma)
No #coffeetour of #Tacoma would be complete without a stop at #Valhalla (at Valhalla Coffee Co.)
Finally got the chance to try #IndoAsian on Tacoma street. Delicious blend of Asian cuisine. Not to mention that the Vietnamese iced coffee is on point. (at Indo Asian Street Eatery)
If you're in #Tacoma you have to go check out #TacomaJava they have some of the finest #coffee in town these days, and you'll probably never meet a cooler gang of baristas. They are the only thing that get ls us through the day sometimes. (at Tacoma Java Co.)
Some days you need caffeine in your mug and ON your mug.
Today's coffee comes from @ghostalleyesp where they have an amazing menu option, "baristas choice." Today I got a mocha with coconut oil, sea salt, and cocoa kernels on top. Perfection.
I wouldn't go to Cafe Lugo just for the coffee. These relatively tame lattes look like a six year old's birthday party and have more sugar than a fully loaded galleon in the East Indies, but the ambiance is 100% gold. The decor is soothing, seating abundant, and outlets bountiful. The BEST PART is they play exclusively K-Pop. It's my promised land.
Coffee in a bowl, served with seared squid and tom ka gai, this hidden coffee shop is in the misty mountains above Taipei.
This should be no surprise but everything at the Macha House
Nothing makes me realize my coffee addiction quite like drinking cold brew out of a glass bottle like a down and out worker from the '20s. Whatever. It's delicious, and watching the insane moves of the Cloud Gate dance troop makes me need a hit. (at 士林官邸公園 Chiang Kai-Shek Shilin Residence)
After yesterday's coffee disaster I realized that I might need to go back to my Scandinavian roots. It has been too long since I've had just a pure black cup of coffee and some krumkake. The kind of coffee that the grandmothers make for reception after we all sing together in the austere Lutheran worship hall. I've lost my way in decadent syrups and flashy flavors. Luther himself denounced these flavorful brews when he nailed his 95 Theses to the door. "We must eschew the scrumptious indulgences of the Catholic world and their butter rum lattes with extra foam," he said. I needed a cup of thick coffee, black as Odin's raven and fierce as Ullr, the winter god. Today I drink this fine coffee from an all too flashy mug (what's wrong with the old one? I liked the white one...) I had lost my way, but my vegvisir has guided me back to what coffee should be, strong, black, and bitter. It will provide my soul with strength as I ski to the sauna today.
Today, I had the absolute worst cup of coffee I've ever had. Like, a sip was sort of the equivalent of making out with shoe polish. Interestingly enough, it was from a place that normally has incredible coffee. Alas, not this time. I ordered a peppermint toasted marshmallow latte with almond milk. What was served to me was a burned cup that tasted somewhere on the spectrum of an ashtray and the black gunk from from the bottom of an oven. The milk was charred to a degree that made me think the barista had a bad breakup with almond milk back in the '90s and just saw him again on the street with a younger version of herself. I won't say where this place was, because they normally rock, and we all have bad days. However, that cup of coffee was punishment for all my sins committed in college.
Of all the NYC coffee shops @joecoffeecompany feels the most like a PAC NW coffee shop to me. The vibe is very chill and the coffee leans a little farther away from the traditional black cup I've come to expect. Not to mention, every time we sit down there, someone tries to join us and talk. A major faux pas in Manhattan but not outside the bounds for the greater Seattle area.
Donut Plant in #NYC has this delicious horchata latte. It's essentially cinnamon, almond, tiger nuts, and rice milk with a hit of cayenne pepper and two shots of local coffee. Hell yes!
Today's coffee is a mocha with marshmallow syrup and a graham cracker crumble. I wish I had added some smokey flavor with either liquid smoke or some bitters, but it is a solid fall coffee nonetheless. (at Anthem Coffee & Tea)
Far and away the BEST pumpkin spice latte I have ever had, subtle, rich, and flawless. Thank you, Portland
