âCaroling Jack? Really?â Owen raised an eyebrow in the otherâs direction. âDonât you think weâre a tad old for that? More likely weâd all get taken in for drunk and disorderly if we were to go around singing in the middle of the night, donât you think?â his response was punctuated by a quiet chuckle and a little shake of his head.
âChristmas⊠bah. Humbug,â he muttered to himself. He looked down into his coffee for a moment, his voice intentionally not more than a whisper as he was trying to be subtle for once in his life. Christmas wasnât much to look forward to by yourself now was it?Â
Still, maybe River would be up for something⊠No. best not to go there. He quickly pushed the thought aside.
Raising his head, he shot Jack a cheeky grin, âI would think you would have secured yourself a permanent spot on Father Christmasâ naughty list by now, Jack?â he laughed, teasing Jack.
âYouâre never too old for caroling, Owen,â Jack said. âIt just depends on what sort of caroling youâre talking about. Iâm thinking you in a tiny Santarina outfit, for starters. With bells on.â
âStill, though, how about a karaoke session? Iâm sure some of you like singing.â
