What are Christmas cookies doing in a blog about clay?  For the first time I decorated using icing squeezed out of a pastry bag, just as I do with slip, underglaze, and glaze, so I figured the techniques are related.  It was fun!

Ocean Platter: pretty useless as a platter because of all the raised slip-trailing, but it was fun to think of it as cloisonné-inspired (glazing heavily within the slip-trailed lines for fish and turtles.)  The coral is wax-resist trailing.

Waves yarn bowl: for knitters, crocheters, etc.  Ball of yarn goes in bowl, one strand is taken through the hole in the wave.  Yarn unwinds evenly and ball of yarn stays put.  For a friend with a beach house in South Carolina who crochets constantly.

I call this the “Monarch Vase” because it was inspired by a poster for a one-woman performance about Elizabeth I (she had an intricate lace collar over a black dress.)
