Pirate / Sheriff
â There is always a crisis.
P e r h a p s
you should consider living your life during them.
O t h e r w i s e ,
you might miss it.â
Veronica couldnât help but startle a little at the contact, pulling her body away from the other despite him meaning well, âYeah, Iâm fine- you know, just lost in thought and all. Totally normal, nothing out of the ordinary happening here.â She rambled nervously, smiling a little tightly at the other. âGuess Iâm still getting the grips of this place and all.â
Killian didnât quite believe her at first but then when she mentioned getting used to the place, he nodded, âAh, of course. Totally understandable and youâre not alone either.â
âThough I didnât expect this- and this was very unexpected. So I guess I still have a little more learning to do.â At the mention of being arrested Anyaâs eyes went a little wide, âWait.. Are you law enforcement? And Iâm pretty certain I wonât do any of that unless Rasputin shows up here.â
Killian chuckled, âYes. Iâm the sheriff. Just like I was in Storybrooke too. But I wouldnât arrest anyone for something they did in their own world, thatâs not my place since I donât know the whole story or have the proof to do anything about it. So just stay out of trouble here.â
âIâm still trying to figure that out,â he admitted with a soft shrug. It didnât make any sense, but there had to be a reason to this madness. If there wasnât, why would someone put so much effort into making this happen? âWhateverâs going on â it has to all be a part of some bigger plan.â
âI imagine youâre right, mate. Either that or itâs a much smaller plan that only involves a few people and we just happened to be dragged into it. Thatâs happened too.â
Veronica knew she probably looked like a mad woman right now, standing in the line at the store, arms filled with groceries as she stared long and hard at the slushie machine on the counter. She couldnât take her eyes away from it, freeze your brain, whispered in the back of her head followed by, our love is god. Words that still made her shudder to this day, even in her do over world. She was only broke out of her trance when she heard someone clear their throat behind her and she realised she had been holding up the queue, âShit, sorry-â She exclaimed, moving forward and dumping her purchases onto the desk, âI sort of just got lost in my head for a second, you know how it is-.. or maybe you donât. But yeah, sorry.â
âYou alright there, lass? You looked a little out of it,â Killian said, placing his ordinary hand on her shoulder.Â
âThatâs fascinating,â Dipper remarked. He loved hearing about curses and spells and mysteries. It was just instilled in him since forever. He was a curious young man. âHmm, itâs definitely bizarre. If itâs a choice, why bring us here and leave all our memories of our past in tact? How does that benefit them?â
âIt doesnât really benefit them so perhaps it was an accident. The more important question is why did they bring us all here at all? Weâre all from different worlds so why bring us all together? Whatâs the point?â
âFair, though I say nothing is impossible after being stuck in this place.â She added, because she never in her wildest dreams could have imagined something like this ever happening to her, she wouldnât even be able to conjure up the thought and yet here they were. Anya frowned a little at the fact that she was considered a murderer, âHe technically wasnât fully alive if that helps my case.â Anya couldnât help but smile at the others words, âWell letâs hope you can get back to them before they come to you, though this place isnât all that bad. You get used to it after a while.â
âI would say nothing is impossible ever,â Killian replied, âThat way you learn to expect the unexpected,â He shrugged, âI wonât judge, and I wonât arrest you or anything as long as you donât murder anyone or commit any crimes here.â
âMaybe Iâll get to see it one day then, I mean whoâs to say weâll be stuck in our own worlds after all of this. Your Storybrooke sounds rather interesting and if given the chance I wouldnât mind taking a look at it for myself.â Because the idea to explore different worlds, or realms as the other put it was exciting to her. She loved an adventure and that would probably be the greatest one sheâd ever embark on. âTerrible things like broke the law or terrible things like killing someone. Iâve done both, though the person who I killed was super evil so Iâm not sure if that counts as murder.â That and he had been dead for centuries to begin with, she simply stopped him from becoming truly alive once again. âIâm sure she will be and Iâm sure theyâll both be alright, you never know though- they might end up in this place. People find others from their world here more often then not.â
âMaybe. Though getting there when youâre not from there can be somewhat difficult sometimes,â Killian replied, knowing it was an understatement, âCounts as murder either way but hate to say Iâve killed for worse reasons,â He couldnât help but be a little surprised. She didnât exactly look like someone who had killed but he could could never judge something like that, âIâd rather they didnât end up here. Iâd rather get back home and see them there. They wouldnât be trapped there.â
âIâve only seen dark magic, never anything light. So I guess Iâm just happy that there is no magic here, Iâve seen villains from stories here and I donât know what would come if they were able to access their powers here.â Anya scrunched up her face a little as she saw the others hook, honestly she hadnât noticed it until the other had point it out but now that he had she wasnât sure how she hadnât seen it. âCaptain Hook- right? Though from the stories Iâve read Captain Hook was the good guy and it was Peter that was evil.â Because she had delved a little too deep into the internet on theories and reviews of the books and movies she had watched. âEmma? Is she your person? Your love?â
âThatâs unfortunate. Light magic is quite miraculous,â Killian replied and then nodded, âIâm glad you see it that way but my story is slightly different from that of the fairy tales, of which I am still the villain. Iâve done some terrible things in my life that arenât in the story,â He paused and smiled sadly, âYes, she is my wife. Sheâs back in our world with our daughter, Hope. At least I hope she is.â
âWell I donât know a whole lot about realmâs but I know my way around a good olâ curse.â One that had been set on her whole family causing their deaths, though she guessed she outran it which lead to the demise of an evil decaying man. âSee, now it makes more sense.â She told the other, gesturing at him when he cleared up that it was in fact ran by a Granny. âI see-⊠I think I get it, so what popular story are you from? Iâve been reading quite a bit since I got here, that and Iâve been watching way to much television and movies- something I never got the chance to experience back where I was from.â
âThatâs a much nastier curse than the ones Iâve experienced. Although someone had to die for it to work but a land without magic had some benefits to a few of the people I know,â Magic let Killian live longer than he was supposed to and through that he was able to meet Emma but heâd also seen magic ruin people, hurt people. He laughed a little and lifted his hand, âDoes the hook not give it away?â He asked, âEver read Peter Pan. I was the villain once upon a time - no pun intended - but then I met Emma. I started saving lives instead of ruining them.â
âThat definitely sounds rather complicated,â Dipper commented. âBut if youâve survived through those, you mustâve conquered whoever was behind them, right? Do you know who could be behind this one?â
âNot a clue, mate. Most of the time itâs some evil witch or wizard looking for revenge. They may still have magic in this world but their enemies would not. This is a land without magic after all,â Killian furrowed his brow a little, âBut normally everyone else wouldnât have their memories either. Lives and identities would be created for them but this only partially worked it'd appear. Which means the caster isnât as powerful as Iâve seen before or itâs a different curse entirely.â
âi hope youâre right.â the general optimistic blonde sighed. âi highly doubt thereâs any magic around. though i guess there could be.â she shrugged her shoulders again. if there was magic around, sheâd have a little more optimism. âi have twin thirteen year olds i plan on getting home to. plus an entire school of kids who need me.â
âUsually true loveâs kiss breaks a curse like this where Iâm from - love is the most powerful kind of magic - but I imagine it would have to be someone specific. From the looks of it, there are potentially endless possibilities here. But even without that, thereâs bound to be even a tiny remnant of magic here that could get even one person over the borders or back to their own realm. In the hands of the right person, that could be a way to get us all home,â Killian replied, âA school? Youâre a teacher?â
a soft huff escaped the young queens lips as she met eyes with the male âthatâs fine.â she nodded ââ perhaps we could find out together?â
âI donât know how much help we would be to each other if weâve both only just arrived.â
âAn evil curse? That youâve seen something like it before?â Dipper echoed, trying to absorb all of this and figure things out. âSomeone must really have it out for you if this isnât the first time youâve been through something like this.â
âI was never the target of the curse to be honest. In fact, I was only actually a part of a few of them. I managed to evade the first one at least.â
âI see, well I donât have any experience with them other than this place, but I guess if a Granny did own it then itâd make sense. Iâve heard that a lot of people like to name their establishments after themselves.â Anyaâs brows furrowed at the way the other spoke and she thought her life had been complicated, âRealms?â Because she wanted a little bit of clarity so she could try and piece together the others life in her head. âNo. 1926.â She told the other, knowing that her time was vastly different from this one, but at least she had gotten used to it for six months.Â
âWell it was the name given to the diner when a whole realm was sent to a town by a curse. Quite like this one but they didnât have their memories. And yes, it was run by a granny,â Killian laughed and shook his head, âRight, sorry. I keep forgetting that itâs not a common thing here. There are different realms. In the world, the one Iâm from might be known as the fairytale realm. Apparently the people I know are from popular stories in this realm. Or I think itâs this realm anyway.â
âGrannyâs what an odd name for a diner.â She couldnât help but chuckle, brow kitting together at the name the other told her, âWhatâs Storybrooke?â Because she hadnât heard of that place, but then again other than St Petersberg and Paris, she didnât have a great grasp of cities or towns around the world, not even countries. âYeah, Iâve been in this modern age for six months and Iâm learning a lot. It beats Russia thatâs for sure, though-.. I was in Paris before coming here, now thatâs a city I didnât mind living in, even if it was for a very short amount of time.â Anya spoke, a small smile on her face as she reminisced about her Grandmother.
âI have limited experience with them except for Grannyâs so you may be right but it makes sense in context I suppose,â Killian replied, âStorybrooke is my home. A town not dissimilar to this one actually. Or at least it was similar before Regina brought all the realms together,â He had no doubt that it would make zero sense to the girl just as her story did to him, âModern day? So youâre not from this time?â Granted he technically wasnât either but it was more complicated than that. He had lived in this time while in Storybrooke.â
