I Would Cry Out to Tell You, But You'd Not Be There
Everything was shit. Not, you know, literally, but Imogen's life had figuratively gone to shit. Her dad was dead, and Imogen had been through the situation billion's of trillion's of times. She had relived the moment every night in her sleep for two months. So, yes, thank you very much, Imogen knew every detail of how much it was just exactly her fault that her dad was not suffering from person hood any longer. She killed him.
Maybe she hadn't killed him directly, but they had been having an argument about Imogen moving in with Natalie. She had stormed out. He had a heart attack and wasn't able to get to the phone. Her fault. She had stressed him out. She had left him alone. Her fault, fault, fault.
Imogen stood up from her perch on the fallen tree trunk and started to pace around. The weight of the revolver in her hoodie pocket was daunting. The safety was on, but she was sure this was what she wanted. Being alive...it just hurt every second. And she felt crushed beyond recognition. Like no amount of attempting to re-inflate Imogen would work; she was just broken. And she was tired of it. Tired, tired, tired...done.
Taking the gun out of her pocket, Imogen weighed it gently in her hands. She raised the barrel, clicking off the safety, and placed it gingerly to her temple. And at that precise moment, she heard a twig snap nearby; someone approaching.
I could use a warm, snuggly hug right now.

Practically gulping, she tried to continue on her endeavor the appear unbothered. Her anxiousness was in no way remotely deteriorating. It wasnât like her to be unnerved by most things. Expressing herself was a bit more difficult, at least her feelings. This was something entirely different. She wanted to kiss a girl and it was clear that the feeling was immensely mutual. Her eyes closed instantaneously as Imogen leaned inwards. Releasing her hold on her lip, she hastily met the girl with the same force.
The feel of her lips wasnât like anything sheâd felt before. It wasnât as though she was the most experienced kisser, but she wasnât inexperienced either.Without hesitation she moved her lips against the other girls. Whether it was the alcohol or not, she didnât know. The residual taste of it was apparent on Imogen, but it didnât deter her as it would have ordinarily done so. Instead it encouraged her. Breaking the kiss for a second, she quickly removed her leather coat, tossing it to the side before turning to Imogen once more. Capturing her lips again, she needfully deepened the kiss.Â
Imogen wasn't sure what shocked her more: that she had made such a bold move as kissing Katie Matlin and the girl hadn't slapped her or pulled away, or the fact that Katie was actually kissing her back. Like, real kissing. With a gasp of excitement, Imogen reached up to tangle her fingers into Katie's soft hair, focusing on the way the girl's lips moved with abandon and yet gently against Imogen's own.
When Katie moved away for a second, Imogen fear that the rejection was coming, that Katie had finally come to her senses. But to Imogen's surprise, all Katie did was shrug out of jacket--in a totally sexy move that Imogen only had seconds to admire--before her lips were back on Imogen's with a more sure enthusiasm. Imogen let her tongue swipe across Katie's lower lip, trying to gauge how Katie would react. All Imogen wanted was more, more, more. She had never felt so off-kilter and inhibition-less, but Imogen could definitely feel the familiar heated dampness pooling in her panties. Â
"Perfect.â she smiled
Imogen logged off her computer excitedly, and grabbed her jacket. Borrowing her mom's car without asking, Imogen drove over to the Coyne's condo. She had been there many a time before, so she didn't even bother to page Fiona, Imogen just traveled right up to her floor and knocked on the door. "Fi, I'm ready to get my Olivia Wilde on!'

Imogen: I feel like a peach, mhmm. But, um, I guess I just wanted to say that I'm sorry?

Furrowing her brows in confusion, she realized that if she and Imogen ever actually became friends, there wouldnât be a moment she consistently understood the girl. They were on two entirely different wave lengths. Imogen was somewhere in the clouds and Katie was perfectly planted on the ground. The thought both amused her and almost gave her a sense of challenge. What she was challenging, she didnât know. Perhaps she wanted to go against the unintelligible school hierarchy she lived by for years in her last semester. âYou are so strange, Imogen,â Katie bemused, but not in a negative connotation in the least. She hope the other girl didnât find offense in her words, for whatever reason, she cared.
Tensing up once more, she tried to ignore the feeling of her stomach dropping from the nearness of them. Each movement Imogen made that put her in closer proximity only furthered her anxiousness. There was an all too familiar fluttering and she didnât like it remotely. In fact she could have simply done without it, but Imogen was the cause and that was worse than anything else. Aside from the fact that she was a girl she was still the same girl sheâd bad take the fall for their senior prank. She was still the strange girl that she held nothing in common with and she now wanted to be closer to her. No, she needed to be. âUm⊠I donât know,â she rasped as she was hardly capable of finding her own breath. Everything felt warm and stuffy, though that mayâve solely been Imogenâs breath sending shivers down. Surprising herself, she craned her neck slightly giving her a better view of the girl. Taking her bottom lip between her teeth, she remained in wait to see what the other girl would do while her blue hues fixated on her lips. Â
"I know I'm weird," Imogen conceded. Her voice was soft, reverent; as if speaking loudly would surely shatter the tension building around the two girls. Imogen felt enchanted by Katie, like everything about the steely girl was pulling Imogen closer. And she didn't quite know how to stop it. "But you're weird too, when you think about it. Peoples' definition of normal fluctuates in everyone so that they may be able to apply it to themselves. Normal is an imperfect concept," Imogen concluded.Â
She was feeling kind of proud of herself for being so articulate when Katie turned to face Imogen. Their faces were only a few inches apart. Imogen gulped. And then Katie did the single more alluring thing Imogen had ever seen: she bit her bottom lip in this innocently-appraising-yet-sultry kind of way that hit Imogen right in the gut. And, without so much as an inkling of a thought, Imogen leaned forward and kissed Katie, hard and unyielding, on her soft, lip gloss stained lips.

Lost in her own world, she hardly noticed as Imogen neared her. The loudness happening downstairs was hardly registering any longer. In part she did however focus on it. The simplicity of the noise made the whole proximity to the girl seem a lot less feasible. It was easier to pretend they were still the two girl that didnât care for one another. Katie grasped for any straws that made herself feel more grounded. She was doing great in her endeavor until she felt the delicate hand on her shoulder. Immediately, she involuntarily stiffened. The closeness was overwhelming. The raven haired girl wasnât keen to letting people near regardless of the connotation.
Alarmed, she took a deep breath as she tried to regain control and keep her composure. She didnât want Imogen to see the impact she had on her. It was a bit frightening and not entirely unwanted; however, she would never vocalize it. Instead, she simply answered the question. âI guess, because Marisol drags me to them and itâs something to doâŠâ Shrugging her shoulders, she nearly knocked the girlâs hand off, but she opted to keep it there. Surprising herself, she reached back and touched Imogenâs hand and held it in place. She didnât dare to look as she felt herself albeit coming undone. Â
Imogen wasn't able to ignore the way that Katie's bod stiffened when her hand made contact, but she also couldn't bring herself to remove it. Instead, Imogen lifted off some of the pressure, leaving her touch feather-light against the leather of Katie's jacket. Being that close to Matlin, Imogen caught a whiff of her floral smelling shampoo, could see the texture of Katie's hair. She wondered what it would be like to run her hands through the soft, almost-fluffy inky blackness. "Sometimes not having anything to do is the best of all," Imogen pointed out. "Like, if you're alone in a room and thinking too hard or too little, bam!, out of nowhere...inspiration."
Imogen had been inching closer little by little, and she felt as her breath reverberated off the back of Katie's neck to wash back over her face. But that sensation was nothing compared to feeling Katie's skin on her own, even if it was just hand-skin. Katie's fingers were cold, but smooth as sea-glass, and Imogen felt herself gasp. "Do you think people are going to wonder where we went?" Imogen asked quietly. Even if she wouldn't put it in words, even in her mind, and admit it to herself, Imogen hoped against hope that Katie didn't give a damn if the other people noticed. Imogen hoped that Katie wanted to stay there with her.
