What is DANCE for you??
Have you ever experienced that feeling of anxiety when performing in a huge stage in front of a thousand people? That relieved feeling when the audience liked your performance and kept cheering for you?
I’ve been dancing for 11 years of my life and even though I was on stage for all those year. I still feel that anxiety when I step my foot on the stage however, those feelings vanished once I heard the music playing. Some people says that once a performance is done the dancers tends to forget the routine. However, they don’t know that even if your brain forgets it, your heart and your body will never forget because you’ve worked hard on making and perfecting that routine in order for other people to see it. According to an Unknown Author “dancing with your feet is one thing but dancing with your heart is another” Dancing can be stressful especially when you don’t love what you are doing therefore I think that this quote represents all the dancers out there that love dancing not just for their dreams but because dancing is what their heart wants.
Dancing brings happiness to people because inside the studio you can be who you really are without pretending and could always pour your heart into dance. Â
Some people think that dancing is just for those people who have been dancing from their whole life. However, Dancing is not just for those people who are born with talents but also for those people who love to dance because you can move freely and express your feelings without worrying of what others might.
Vivian Greene quoted “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass… it’s about learning to dance in the rain” What do you think of this quote?
If I would answer that question, I would say that people are scared of facing their fears because they always say that waiting for them to disappear is much easier than facing them. I’m not going lie, there’s one point in my life that I’ve gave up what I love on doing which is dance because dance became one of my fears that I will never be good enough like the others. However, I’ve overcome that fear and instead of running away from it I’ve faced head on because I’ve realized you can’t always be good in the beginning but throughout of the process you’ll be able to grow and will always improve each and every day. When the rain pours in, your instinct would be to find a place to stay out of the rain but isn’t better to wait for the rain to stop while dancing in the rain and just listen to the sound of the rain.
Have you experience on having an anxiety before your dance performance? If yes, and you don’t know how to solved that problem. My tips for you is to just forget about all the doubts that you have inside your head, forget about all the “what if” and just enjoy the performance because in the end of the day it is your performance and you have sacrifice your time in order for people to witness your wonderful performance. Also, remember that you are dancing not for other people but for yourself because dance is what you love to do and this is who you are. Never think that you have to please everyone around you or you have to make everyone love your choreography because people will never be satisfied and please.
Here’s my questions for you: Why do you dance?
