It was a couple hours past midnight.
Brown boots touched the dirt path as rain started to fall.
Edwards had been chasing Alma for weeks, giving him messages through his connection with his mind feathers and patiently waiting to see if he would obey his requests, but Alma still refused to cooperate. He must be tired by now. Edwards made sure he did not get much sleep, disrupting his dreams.
Although he would rather have Alma willingly come to him, running so far away from civilization and into a labyrinth caused by an Innocence... it was too much of an opportunity to miss.
The hands in his pockets feathered up, and he ordered Alma’s Innocence to pin him in place by impaling the walls and floor. And then he walked to him, making his presence through their connection from what remaining feathers he had implanted in the boy well known.
Silencing everything that could give him away, Edwards navigated the maze with ease. Once Alma was in sight, he let some of his feathers poke out of his clothes and lunged forward at speed that was akin to teleportation, hands reaching and trying to grab Alma’s head.
The time for bargaining was over. He was going to bring Alma back.
