My asks should be open and I'm open to requests! Just keep in mind I am a full time student so things make take a little longer. I'm pretty much only interested in writing for Bad Omens, but that may change in the future.

Monday morning unfortunately came too soon. You spent the weekend in your own little bubble with Noah and before you knew it, you were getting dropped off at work again. You looked out the car window and sighed, then you felt Noah carefully take your hand in his, pressing a kiss to the back of it.
“Have a good day, baby.” He said, and you turned to face him.
“Thanks.” You smiled, but it didn’t quite reach your eyes, “You too.”
He looked at you carefully, noticing your expression. He didn’t say anything though, he knew you didn’t want to get out of bed this morning, he knew you were dreading going back to work after this weekend…
But you opened the car door anyway, and stepped out onto the pavement.
“See you at six.”
“Bye, Noah.” You said before letting the door shut again, and lifting your bag onto your shoulder.
Just looking at the front door of the cafe was enough for your headache to begin, but you stepped up to it and pushed it open, the bell above chiming.
You headed straight for the staff room, but before you could even pass the first table, an unfamiliar voice called out,
“Morning!”
You jumped out of your skin, your heart pounding as your hand raised to your chest.
“Jesus…” You looked over, and there was someone standing behind the counter already.
Oh yeah, Tom said the new guy was starting today.
“Sorry.” The guy chuckled, “Didn’t mean to scare you. You must be y/n? I’m Cameron.”
You gave him a tired smile, nodding your head, and as you were about to give him a blunt reply, you finally looked at him properly… fuck.
He was beautiful. He had messy, dirty blonde hair that almost made him look like a hotter Ross Lynch, gorgeous hazel eyes… and then your eyes betrayed you. The sight of those arms in his work t-shirt.
“Hey, y/n!” Tom grinned, “So you’ve met Cameron?”
“Uh-”
“Great! I thought you could train him today!”
You turned back to Cameron.
“You’re not trained?”
He laughed, leaning casually against the counter with his arms- stop looking- folded over his chest.
“I was a barista back in college. It’s been a few years, so I’m a little rusty,” he smiled, “But once somebody reminds me how it all works, I’m sure it’ll come back pretty quickly.”
“Okay.” You cleared your throat, dragging your gaze back up to his face. “Well… hopefully I remember how it all works too. It’s been a long weekend.”
Tom snorted.
“Her rich and famous boyfriend took her to see Bring Me The Horizon-”
“He’s not my boyfriend!” You hissed, making Cameron chuckle.
“I’ve never heard of them,” he shook his head, still smiling, “I’ve only ever been to one concert.”
You raised an eyebrow.
“Oh yeah, who did you see?”
You expected him to say something like Arctic Monkeys, or Tame Impala.
“Benson Boone.” He said proudly.
You almost snorted. Well, nobody's perfect.
“Right!” You clapped your hands together. “First things first, put your apron on. They’re hanging up in the staff room, then I’ll show you the espresso machine.”
Cameron nodded obediently.
“Yes, ma’am.” He said before disappearing into the back.
The second the door swung shut behind him, Tom’s smirk grew even wider.
“He’s cute, isn’t he?”
You stared at him.
“Tom…”
“He is! C’mon, he’s tall, has nice eyes, good hair-“
“In case you’re forgetting, I have a Noah.” You reminded him with your hands on your hips.
Tom chuckled, shaking his head.
“You say that like he’s a breed of dog.”
“You know what I mean, Tom.” You groaned.
“So you’re saying, if you didn’t have a Noah-”
“But I do.” You insisted, “So whatever workplace romance you think is gonna happen here isn’t happening.”
Tom just smirked and shrugged, looking down at the counter as he wiped it with a cloth.
“Whatever you say!”
…
By the time lunchtime had rolled around, you realised Cameron wasn’t lying about having experience. You expected to spend the entire day explaining every little thing, but after the first hour he was finding things without asking, and making coffees that looked rather good for someone who claimed to be “rusty."
“Wow.” You smiled as he slid a latte across the counter for your inspection, and he grinned.
“You see the heart?”
“I see it,” you nodded, “You’ll be competing with Tom over the best latte art.”
You didn’t quite realise how much of a difference another pair of hands would make, but for the first time during an afternoon rush, you weren’t darting between the counter, the espresso machine, tables and the sink feeling like your head was about to explode.
Cameron not only worked well, but fast. And he knew just what needed doing around the place- restocking cups when they were running low, wiping up milk spillages, rinsing cups and jugs to go in the dishwasher.
At one point you got back from using the bathroom and realised he’d already restocked the entire pastry display in the time it took you to pee and wash your hands.
“I was gonna do that when I got back.” You told him, and he just shrugged.
“Thought I’d save you a job.”
And the two of you were actually getting on surprisingly well, when Tom’s eyes weren’t watching you. He was easy to talk to, and you enjoyed talking to him. You told him some of your favourite stories about this place, about your first day when you were a little scared of Tom at first, and about how you hated cleaning the blender because the lid always got stuck.
Then, when he watched it happen later, he just appeared beside you and popped the lid off easily, making you turn to look at him.
“How did you do that?”
He just smirked, looking very proud of himself.
“Heh, told you I've got experience. Maybe I can teach you a thing or two.”
You couldn’t help but smile, and Tom had clearly caught you, since you met his eyes and he mouthed Noah…
You immediately scowled at him and shook your head.
The truth was, you didn’t think Cameron was flirting with you. You thought he was friendly, and outgoing. He’s like a ray of sunshine, a golden retriever, he's the kind of person who could probably make conversation with a brick wall. When he complimented your earrings, you just assumed he was observant. When he laughed at your very unfunny jokes, you assumed he was just being nice.
You had a Noah. You weren't looking for anything else. You didn’t want anything else. Cameron was just a guy you worked with- hell, you’ve only known him for a few hours!
The rest of the day passed surprisingly quickly, which of course it would do when you weren’t in survival mode. By five-fifty the cafe had emptied, the chairs were up on most of the tables, and the three of you were doing the usual closing routine.
Tom disappeared into the office to do paperwork, leaving you to supervise while Cameron swept the floor- since there was nothing left to do.
“You made it through your first day.” You smiled, and Cameron kept sweeping.
“Somehow.” He smirked.
“You did better than I thought you would if I’m being honest.”
“Wow, nice to know you always had faith in me.”
“Shut up,” you scoffed, “I just didn’t expect you to know how to make a perfect cappuccino.”
“Oh yeah?” He stopped sweeping to face you, narrowing his eyes, “I’m more than just muscles, sweetheart.”
Sweetheart.
Noah.
You swallowed hard. Coming from Cameron, the name made you cringe a little, and you suddenly felt a little… weird.
You tried not to let anything show, and instead you forced a chuckle, and took off your apron.
“I’m just going to the bathroom.” You said, walking a little too quickly around the counter.
Cameron, looking a little puzzled, just shrugged, before going back to sweeping the floor.
The cafe was quiet now, the most peaceful it had been since opening. Tom was humming to himself in the staff room, you were trying to calm down in the bathroom, and Cameron suddenly looked up as the bell above the door jingled.
A tall man dressed in all black stepped inside. He had dark hair hid beneath his baseball cap, big tattooed arms on show thanks to the fitted tshirt he was wearing, and sunglasses on despite the fact it wouldn’t be long before the sun would set.
“Sorry, dude, we’re closing up.”
Noah glanced around the empty cafe.
“Okay, good.”
Cameron frowned.
“What?”
Noah stepped further inside and took off his glasses, his eyes already searching the room.
“What do you want, man?” Cameron asked.
“Is y/n done yet?”
Something in the question made Cameron’s posture change immediately. The friendliness disappeared, and his grip tightened on the broom handle.
“Why?”
Noah finally looked at him properly.
“...Excuse me?”
“Why are you asking for her?”
“Because I’m here to pick her up.”
Cameron didn’t move, he just tilted his head slightly.
“You know her?”
Noah stared at him for a moment, clearly trying to work out whether this was a joke.
“Yes.”
“How?”
Up until this point Noah had been tired but relaxed. Now, he was starting to get irritated.
“How do you think?”
Cameron took a small step forward.
“Look, man, if you’re some weird customer who’s been hanging around waiting for her-”
That actually made Noah laugh out loud in disbelief.
“Are you serious right now?”
“Yes, I’m serious.”
From the bathroom, you could hear voices getting louder. Then you frowned… because that sounded like,
“Noah?”
You hurried out into the cafe, and the scene that greeted you made you stop dead. Cameron stood between Noah and the rest of the room, the broom held tight in his grip like a weapon.
Noah stood near the door with the expression of a man who was equally pissed off and confused.
“What’s happening?” You asked suddenly.
Both men looked at you simultaneously, but Cameron spoke first.
“Do you know this guy?”
Noah’s eyebrows shot up. This guy? You stared at Cameron, slowly nodding your head.
“…Yes?”
He looked relieved.
“Oh. Thank god.” Then he pointed at Noah. “He came in asking for you and wouldn’t explain himself.”
Noah folded his arms, his tongue sweeping the inside of his cheek.
“I said I was picking her up.”
“You said you were looking for her!” Cameron looked back at you. “I thought he was a creep.”
Noah scoffed.
“A creep?”
You pressed your lips together, knowing this was either about to become a fight, or the funniest thing you’ve ever witnessed.
Then Noah looked at you, his face softening the moment he met your eyes.
“Baby, please tell this man who I am before I say something I shouldn’t.”
Cameron’s eyes widened.
“Oh. Baby?”
You let your eyes shut as you took in a slow, frustrated breath.
“Cameron, this is Noah. My… uh, my Noah.”
The room was silent for a second, then Cameron slowly turned around to look at Noah then looked back at you again.
“So what, this is your boyfriend who you insisted was not your boyfriend this morning?” Cameron scoffed.
The air in the room changed, and you felt it the moment those words left his mouth.
Noah had been irritated before, you’d seen it in Paris when he was dealing with work- but this was different. He went very still, and the softness that had appeared when he looked at you was gone again.
“You’re twisting it… that’s not what I meant.” You defended yourself.
“Yes it is.” Cameron smirked, clearly proud of himself, “You were making it sound like you were single.”
Noah shook his head, extremely pissed off now.
“That’s because I’m not her boyfriend.” He said, his eyes fixed on Cameron, “Not officially, anyway.”
Cameron let out a short laugh, resting the broom steadily against the wall.
“Wow, that doesn’t sound creepy at all, does it?”
The silence that followed was sharp enough to cut, and Noah’s expression didn’t change, but you saw his jaw flex.
“Excuse me?”
“You heard me.”
“Cameron.” Your voice was firmer now. “That’s enough.”
He held his hands up as though he was being perfectly reasonable.
“What? You don’t think anything about this guys is weird? Showing up at a closed cafe and asking for the only woman here by name? Claiming to not be your boyfriend yet, as if it’s going to happen and you’ve not got a choice. As your friend, I’m concerned-”
“Look, man, you have absolutely no idea what our relationship is like,” Noah said quietly. “So don’t start with me.”
Cameron folded his arms.
“Dude, I’m not starting anything. I’m just saying everything you're doing seems more and more alarming.”
At some point Tom had appeared by the staff room door, watching it all unfold, smirking to himself. Then Noah shook his head with a soft sigh.
“You know what?” He looked at you, not Cameron. “Come on, baby. It’s been a long day, let’s go home.”
“Wait.” Cameron’s head snapped up again, “You two live together?”
Noah was already reaching for your bag that you had ready by the door, and you hesitated before answering.
“Yeah, at the moment.”
Cameron’s face screwed up.
“So you' moved in with a guy who says he're living with the guy who isn’t your boyfriend?”
“Cameron.” Your voice was suddenly a lot more stern than before, “Just drop it.” He looked at you, but the bitterness was there now, plain as day.
“I’m just trying to understand.”
“No, you’re not. You're trying to get a reaction.” You shook your head, then he gave a humourless laugh.
“Right. Because apparently I’m the bad guy for thinking this is weird.”
Noah set your bag back down on the table carefully, and when he spoke again, his voice was gentler than you were expecting.
“Don’t start acting like you know everything when you know nothing.” He said simply, “She moved in with me because after coming home from a trip, the ceiling in her apartment collapsed.”
“What?” Cameron’s eyebrows raised.
“I offered her somewhere safe to stay.” Noah held his gaze. “I offered her help when she needed it. I take her to work because I want to, I pick her up because I want to. Because I want to make sure she gets home safely. And the fact that you’ve turned this into something sinister says a lot more about you than it does about me.”
Everyone went completely silent. Cameron opened his mouth, then closed it again.
You’d never seen Noah like this. He wasn’t raising his voice, but there was an edge to him now, something protective and angry. He'd never been sexier. He stepped closer, not enough to be threatening but just enough that Cameron had to look up at him.
“I have spent weeks- months, even- making sure she feels safe, making sure she doesn’t have to worry about anything.” Noah said, “So forgive me if I don’t appreciate a man who met her this morning implying I’m a creep.”
Cameron swallowed.
“I didn’t know.” He said, quieter this time.
“No,” Noah agreed. “You didn’t.”
You stared at him, your heart was beating way too fast. Part of you wanted to step between them, but another part was surprised by the warmth spreading through your chest at the way he was defending you, defending what the two of you were building.
Cameron looked away first.
“Fine,” he huffed. “I got the wrong idea.”
Noah didn’t answer, and the silence stretched until Cameron finally looked back at you.
“I’m sorry, y/n. I genuinely thought I was looking out for you.” And that, at least, sounded honest. So you nodded your head.
“I know.”
He rubbed the back of his neck, avoiding Noah’s eyes as he spoke to him again,
“Sorry, man,” he added awkwardly. “I shouldn’t have said that stuff.”
Noah’s expression softened a little, surprised by the apology.
“No, you shouldn’t.” He said, then added after a moment, “But I appreciate the fact you were concerned at first. I'm glad to see that if it weren't me that had walked in, you would've protected her.”
Cameron nodded, then you turned to Noah with a smile.
“Can we go home now?”
“Yeah,” he smiled softly, picking your bag back up, “Of course we can, sweetheart.”
As he guided you towards the door, Cameron called after you, his voice softer now.
“See you tomorrow.”
You paused.
“See you tomorrow.” You replied, then the bell jingled as Noah opened the door for you.
Cool evening air hit your face as you stepped out, and neither of you spoke until you reached the car. Then, just before he was about to reach for the passenger door, you caught his sleeve.
He looked down at you, his eyes soft.
“Hey.”
“Hey.”
Up close, you could still see the tension in his face.
“I could tell you were getting angry back in there.” You said, choosing your words carefully. He looked away briefly, then back at you.
“He called me a creep. He implied you weren’t safe with me.” His voice was quieter now. “That bothered me more than I expected.”
You stepped closer.
“I know.”
He searched your face.
“You don’t think that, do you?”
Your heart squeezed, making you frown.
“No, Noah.” You took his hand. “I have never felt safer with anyone in my life.”
The feeling in his chest eased at those words, and his shoulders dropped slightly. He brought your hand to his mouth and kissed your knuckles gently, the anger finally fading from his features.
“Good,” he whispered. Then he smiled, tired and a little sheepish now. “And for the record, I don’t like your new barista.”
You laughed as you got into the car, taking your bag from him and putting it down by your feet.
“He thought he was doing the right thing.” You said, and Noah shook his head.
“Still don’t like him.”
…
The next morning, you woke up tangled in Noah’s arms, your face pressed against his chest, one of his t-shirts bunched up around your waist. And for a few seconds, you forgot it was a weekday. You just laid there, snuggled up with him, not a care in the world-
Then your alarm started to beep.
You groaned loudly and buried your face deeper into Noah’s chest.
“No...”
A sleepy laugh rumbled beneath your cheek.
“No what?” Noah asked as he reached over to stop the alarm.
“I’m not going to work.” You tightened your arms around him. “I quit.”
He stroked a hand slowly through your hair.
“That’s a little drastic, don’t you think?”
“I’m serious.” Your voice came out muffled against his skin. “I just want to stay here and cuddle you all day.”
You expected him to do what he usually did- kiss your forehead, remind you that work was important, and gently coax you out of bed. Instead, there was a pause, and you wondered if he'd actually consider it.
“You wanna stay here?” He asked, still combing his fingers through your hair. “…Okay.”
You blinked and lifted your head, wondering if this was some kind of joke.
“Okay?”
He smiled, still eyes still sleepy, and nodded his head.
“You’re letting me stay home?”
“Mhm.”
You gave him a suspicious look, then asked,
“Why?”
He simply shrugged.
“Because you look comfy.”
You scoffed, shaking your head.
“That’s not the real reason.”
His smile grew a little.
“Well, we had a busy weekend, you didn’t get much of a chance to relax… and maybe I want cuddles too.”
You knew that wasn’t entirely the truth. Deep down, you knew that he didn’t want you spending another full day with Cameron. And to be honest… you didn’t care. You got cuddles!
With a smile, you rested your head on his chest again, and he wrapped both his arms around your waist, holding you even closer as you texted Tom to let him know you’re not coming in.
“You smell nice.” He whispered into your hair.
“That’s the perfume you bought me in Paris.”
“Ah.” He smiled softly, “I thought so.”
You laughed quietly, put your phone down, then the two of you were silent again. For a while you both simply laid there listening to the rain. Noah’s fingers traced lazy circles against your back and shoulders, and every time you tried to sit up he tightened his hold.
“Nope. You’re staying here.”
You smiled against his chest as he pulled you back into him.
“You’re being so clingy.” You giggled, then he kisses the top of your head.
"I don't hear you complaining."
Eventually, after a while, he reached for his phone on the bedside table.
“What time is it?” You asked.
“Just past nine.”
You groaned again.
“I’d normally be steaming milk right now and listening to Tom gushing over his 'hot personal trainer'.”
Noah chuckled, then carefully set his phone back down, and looked at you properly.
“Listen, baby.”
“Hm?”
“I’ve actually got a pretty busy day.”
Your smile softened.
“Oh… that’s okay.”
“I’m recording with a couple of friends in the studio all afternoon. I tried moving it to tomorrow, but Michael’s leaving town tonight. I don’t want you thinking I’m abandoning you after letting you stay home.”
You laughed softly, and traced the tip of your finger over the ink on his chest.
“I’ll survive.”
He brushed his thumb across your cheek.
“I just want you to know you’re not trapped here while I work. You can do anything you want today.”
“Anything?”
“Yep,” he smiled, “Stay here if you want, in my bed or in the living room- my Xbox is down there, play any game you want, or if you want to download any then feel free. Or you can take my car out… go shopping, use my card, buy anything you want.”
“I don’t need anything.” You chuckled.
“Buy something anyway.” He smiled. “Or get your nails done, or your hair. Treat yourself, baby.”
You just looked at him for a moment, wondering how the hell you got so lucky, your smile growing.
“You’re spoiling me.”
“Well, that’s kind of the arrangement.”
You smiled.
“And if I choose to stay in your bed all day?”
His expression softened again.
“Then I’ll be very happy to come back up here between takes and find you exactly where I left you.”
Your stomach fluttered.
“That sounds tempting…”
He leaned down and kissed your shoulder.
“Good.”
“But I think I’ll stay, drive nowhere. Spend none of your money.”
“Disappointing, but fine.”
“And cuddle you until you have to work.” You added with a little smirk.
Noah pulled you closer again, holding you tighter, clearly delighted with that answer.
“Now that,” he said, his lips brushing against your forehead, “Sounds like the perfect Tuesday.”
So for the next hour, while the rain fell softly outside and the rest of the city worked, you stayed exactly where you wanted to be- curled up in Noah’s arms, warm and sleepy, and secretly very pleased that his jealousy had earned you a day off.
…
You must’ve fallen asleep almost immediately after that conversation, because the next thing you knew, sunlight was spilling through the gaps in the curtains and the bed beside you was empty.
You blinked sleepily, reaching a hand across the mattress, but it met cold sheets. No Noah.
For a second you felt a little disappointed, but then you remembered what he’d said about recording today. He was probably already downstairs in the studio with his friends. So you rolled onto your back and squinted at the clock on the bedside table.
1:07pm.
“Oh my god.”
You sat up abruptly, you never slept this late. You always felt guilty for sleeping past 10am even on your days off, feeling like you've wasted the day…
So you got up and made your way to the bathroom. You showered slowly, letting the warm water wake you up properly. You were pretty quick, since you had already washed your hair last night, so when you got out you did your skincare then pulled on a comfortable outfit, and you felt like yourself again.
When you finally checked your phone again, there were a couple messages from Noah, sent a few hours ago.
Noah: Recording started early, you fell asleep again, so I didn’t wake you. You looked comfy and cozy.
Noah: Have a good day baby. If you’re still up there when I take a break, I’m coming in for cuddles
Your tummy felt stupidly fuzzy and warm at his words, and you reread the last message a couple more times. A big smile spread across your face as you typed back:
You: I woke up 40 minutes ago, and just got out the shower. I’m about to go down for breakfast. I hope the recordings going well! 😙
You: I’ve never slept in so late before…
He replied almost straight away, so you wondered just how busy he was
Noah: Good girl, I’m proud of you for sleeping in <3
Noah: Enjoy your day, baby.
You grinned at his reply before heading down the stairs and into the kitchen, where you made toast and coffee while the sound of music played quietly through the house- you assumed the studio door may have been left slightly open.
It just felt strange, you thought about how a couple weeks ago, you were living in a shitty tiny apartment, and now you were making coffee in Noah Sebastian’s kitchen while he recorded music on the other side of the house.
Life sure was bizarre.
After eating, you considered curling up on the sofa with a book or going back up and watching TV in Noah’s bed… but then his words played in your mind again. Take my car into town, go shopping, use my card…
You looked towards the hallway where his keys hung on the little hook by the door. You bit your lip as you thought about it, then you pulled your phone out and messaged him again.
You: I think I’ll actually take your car and go shopping :)
Noah: Which car?
You frowned at your phone before replying,
You: You have more than one?
Noah: 😏
You: Well I was thinking about taking the one you use everyday…
Noah: That’s okay. You know where the keys are?
You: Yep :)
Noah: Drive safe sweetheart, text me when you get there
Noah: And if you see something pretty, don’t hesitate. Buy it
You: Yes sir 🫡
You smirked as you pressed send, then slipped on your shoes, grabbed his keys and your handbag, and headed outside.
Noah’s black car sat gleaming in the driveway, looking far too expensive for you to be trusted with yet again. You wondered which other cars he had, since this was the only one you knew about… that was definitely something you’d have to ask about later.
You climbed in carefully, set your bag down on the passenger seat, then adjusted the seat and mirrors, and took a steadying breath. You always felt nervous when driving someone else's car, and Noah's was no exception.
Twenty minutes later you were at the mall, pulling into the parking lot, feeling strangely giddy. First, you bought yourself a coffee, then wandered slowly through a couple stores, with no time limit and no one rushing you.
A jewellery shop caught your eye, and you bought a pretty bracelet. Then you headed into the bookstore, picking up a couple books that some customers had recommended to you. Then you spotted a boutique with a gorgeous dress displayed in the window, it looked like something Noah would absolutely lose his mind over if you wore it out one night.
You paused outside it, and before you could push the door open, your phone buzzed.
Noah: How’s my girl doing?
You looked at the dress again and smiled.
You: Having fun with your credit card 🤭
Noah: That’s exactly what I want to hear
You smiled to yourself, then tucked your phone back into your pocket before stepping into the shop. You looked around for a moment, and this time you didn’t hesitate to pick up pieces that caught your eye, to imagine yourself wearing them. You ended up buying a couple pretty tops, and when you asked about the dress in the window they had unfortunately sold out of your size, but the lady told you to come back next week when they’re restocked.
Next, you found yourself in the home store. You only meant to come in here for a quick look- famous last words.
You walked slowly down each aisle, your attention being drawn in every direction. You smelled half the candles on one shelf, then picked up your two favourites and put them in your basket. You also picked up a blanket, along with a couple cute photo frames that you couldn’t leave behind, a little jewellery tray, and then you also reached for a couple lovely coffee mugs.
Then, just after putting them in the basket, you stopped. Because in your mind, you were picturing these things at home.
Somewhere along the line, you had stopped thinking of it as just Noah’s house, now it felt like home. And you weren’t sure how you felt about that.
You considered putting the items back, not wanting Noah to think that because you’re staying at his you have the right to decorate it how you want… but you wanted those things. So you told yourself you’d buy them anyway, and if he asks then you’ll say they’re for when you move back to your place- though you’d much rather find a new apartment than go back there.
So you bought those items, then headed back to the car to dump the shopping bags off before continuing. You went and got lunch somewhere quiet and peaceful, a little cafe that you and Tom thought would be your rivals when they first opened- but judging by how busy it was during the time that’d be your afternoon rush, there is no competition.
You let Noah know you were stopping for lunch, and even sent him a picture when your food arrived.
Noah: That looks delicious, hope you enjoy <3
Noah: And buy yourself something sweet after. My treat x
So once you finished, you ordered two brownies and asked for them to be wrapped up, then you put them in your bag- one for you, and one for Noah.
Next, you walked past a lingerie store. At first, you paid it no attention… then you paused, backtracked, and fifteen minutes later, you had a stack of satin and lace in your arms. There were a couple matching sets in different colours, and a pretty satin robe.
As you tapped Noah’s card on the machine and the cashier folded everything into tissue paper, you imagined him finding the bag later and your cheeks warmed. You couldn’t wait to show these pieces for him…
But just as you were leaving, your eye caught something pink and fluffy. Handcuffs? It was clearly in a section that was meant for things like halloween costumes or bachelorette parties, but it made you laugh to yourself. You picked them up with a smirk, and on the tag it read NOVELTY ITEM… but that’s exactly what you wanted them for, just to see Noah’s reaction when you surprise him with them one night.
God, you could already picture his face. The raised eyebrow, the disbelieving laugh, the inevitable “Baby, what on earth are these?”
You turned back around, and paid for them, glad that a different cashier scanned them for you with a smile.
“Fun night planned?”
You smiled innocently.
“I’m mostly buying them for the reaction.”
“I’m sure they’ll get one.” She chuckled.
And after another hour of putting things on Noah’s card, your feet ached, so you decided to go back to the car for good this time. And as you sat down in the driver's seat, you sent Noah a text.
You: On my way back now <3
You: Are you out of the studio yet?
You waited a couple minutes, but there was no reply… so you guessed that was a no.
…
Twenty minutes later, you were back at Noah’s, dragging all the bags in from the car. When you were inside, you set all the bags down on the floor so you could hang Noah’s keys back up and take your shoes off, then your phone buzzed.
Noah: Home safe? ❤️
You smiled as you replied.
You: Yep :)
Then you picked your bags back up and made your way up the stairs and into the guest room. You set them all down on the bed, then you quickly went to put your hair up and get changed into something comfier. Then, bag by bag, you began unpacking.
The books went on the bedside table, the new tops were folded into the drawer you’d been using, but the lingerie stayed hidden in tissue inside the pink bag for now. Then you reached for the home store bags.
You lined the candles up on the dresser, smiling to yourself. Then you placed the little jewellery tray down in front of it. You kept the photo frames in the bag to keep them safe… those, you could imagine in Noah’s home. Maybe in the living room, on one of the shelves…
Then you picked up the soft blanket and held it against your chest for a moment, already imagining it draped over the sofa downstairs. Then you frowned as you set it back down on the bed, remembering how you bought these things without even thinking. Without remembering that this house wasn’t yours, that you were a guest. That this was just temporary.
The thought made your chest ache, a frown tugging on your lips… and as you brushed your fingers against the softness of the blanket, you heard footsteps on the stairs. A moment later, warm arms slid around your waist from behind.
“Hey.” You smiled, without even turning around to face him.
Noah kissed the side of your head, his chest warm against your back.
“Hey, baby.” He said, his voice slightly raspy… you wondered if he’d been recording himself screaming? Maybe you should be glad you went out. “What did you get?”
“What didn’t I get?” You chuckled softly.
His chin rested on your shoulder as he looked down at the bed.
“Oh wow.”
“This isn’t even all of it.” You pointed towards the nightstand, “I bought some books… and a couple new tops- I’ve put those away though.”
Then you looked towards the pink bag from the lingerie store and felt your cheeks warm.
“And… I might’ve bought some new underwear.”
A slow smile spread across his face.
“Did you now?”
“Mhm.” You nodded.
“For me to see?” He smirked.
“Maybe… if you’re lucky.” You teased, making him shake his head. “Oh, and I got some candles too. Smell these.” You said as you stepped towards the dresser.
You handed one over to him, and he gave it a sniff before humming in approval.
“Oh, these smell good.”
“I know.” You grinned, before reaching for the soft grey blanket on the bed again, “I got this too.”
His expression was gentle as he reached out, stroking the soft fabric with his calloused fingertips.
“It’s so soft.” He smiled.
“I know… I felt silly when I bought these things because I just-“ You hesitated, suddenly feeling a little embarrassed. “I forgot.”
He frowned slightly.
“Forgot what?”
You looked down at the blanket in your hands again.
“That this isn’t my house.” You swallowed, forcing a small smile, “I got carried away and started buying things for the living room and then the kitchen, and then halfway through the store realised…” You laughed softly at yourself. “Your house isn’t my house.”
He stayed very quiet beside you.
“So I’ll just keep it all packed away for now,” you continued quickly, turning the fold up the blanket before stuffing it into the closet. “Until I know what’s happening with my apartment, or until I find somewhere new to move. I’m sure you don’t want me and my candles taking over your house.”
The second the words left your mouth, Noah gently turned you around to face him.
“Hey.” His hands came up to hold your face. “Don’t say that.”
Your eyes lifted to meet his.
“What?”
“You're not taking over. Right now, this is your home, just as much as it's mine.” The sincerity in his voice made your chest ache.
“Noah-”
“I mean it.” His thumbs brushed softly across your cheeks. “And if you did want to find a new place, that's fine, we’ll look together. I’ll come to viewings, I’ll help inspect the places, I’ll help you move, I’ll do whatever you need.”
He smiled gently, softly tilting your head to look up at him again when your eyes drifted away.
“But I don’t mind you- or your candles- staying here at all.”
“You don’t?”
“Not even a little.” He shook his head.
“I worried that maybe after a while I’d start to feel like I was in the way-“
“Baby, what have I told you about worrying and making assumptions?”
You gave him a tiny sheepish smile.
“That I’m very good at both.”
He huffed a laugh through his nose, but his hands stayed gentle against your face.
“You are. Which is why I’m going to help you with this one.” His thumbs brushed your cheeks once more before he stepped back slightly, “Look at me.”
You did, and his eyes were ever so gentle.
“Yes, this is my house.” He said softly. “And I’m telling you that I want you here. So you don’t need to decide for me whether you’re welcome, we’ve been over this before.”
You swallowed hard.
“Okay.”
“Good girl.”
Warmth spread through your tummy, making your face soften, and he smiled when he saw it happen.
“Now…” He glanced at the bags still scattered across the bed. “I’ve got some jobs for you.”
You raised an eyebrow.
“What is it?”
“You’re going to stop hiding things in the closet, and we’re gonna put these things where you want them.”
You hesitated for a moment chewing on your lip, and he tilted his head.
“That wasn’t a suggestion, sweetheart.” He said, and the authority in his voice made you smiled despite yourself.
“Okay.” You nodded your head.
He kissed your forehead before taking the blanket from the closet and unfolding it again.
“Now let’s put these things where they belong.” He said, draping the blanket over his arm, “C’mon.”
You followed him downstairs carrying the candles while he carried the blanket and the bag that held the mugs and photo frames. He threw the blanket over the sofa, looking like it belonged there all along. He helped you organise the candles on the coffee table- but he couldn’t help but pick one up and smell it again.
Then, in the kitchen, he unpacked the mugs you’d bought while you unwrapped the photo frames.
“I don’t even have any photos to put in them, I’m not really sure why I bought them.” You chuckled as you lined them up on the counter.
“Because they look nice.” Noah smiled, glancing at them over his shoulder while he rinsed out the mugs, “Why don’t I print some photos for you?”
“I don’t have any worth printing.” You chuckled.
He was quiet for a moment as he dried the mugs with a towel before carefully placing them in the cupboard beside his own.
“I do.”
He reached into his pocket for his phone, and after tapping a few times, he turned it around for you to see. You were slightly taken back when you looked at the screen- it was a picture of you from one of your nights out in Paris, the night he took you to dinner on the boat. You were in that pretty black dress, not looking at the camera, unaware he was even taking a photo. Then the next picture was of you again, this time in a red dress with the eiffel tower sparkling in the background.
“Noah… I never knew you took these.” You said, your voice full of awe.
He shrugged, looking almost a little shy.
“I couldn't help myself.”
The next photo was the one of you both from the night he took you to the concert. The one where he was kissing your cheek.
“I really like this one.” He said, and you nodded your head.
“Me too…”
He looked over at you and smiled.
“You looked really pretty that night.” He smirked.
“So did you,” you chuckled, “...Especially with that mask on, and our vibrator on your-”
“Okay, okay.” He laughed, and you could see the slight red tint in his cheeks. “C’mon, let's unpack the rest of your things.”
You nodded.
Together, you headed back up the stairs and you started to move some more things. He made some space in his own closet, and hung up some of your clothes. He set your jewellery tray down on his dresser, and started to make space in one of the drawers for you.
It felt more like home than your own home ever did, and Noah seemed to sense where your thoughts were drifting.
“Hey.”
You looked up from where you were standing by his bed, watching him put away your clothes.
“I meant what I said earlier. If you want your own place, we’ll look. But there’s no pressure either way.”
He wandered over, looked down at you and tucked a strand of hair behind your ear.
“And if you decide you’d rather stay here a little longer…” A small smile tugged at his mouth, “…that’s okay too.”
You smiled back.
“You’re making it very hard to wanna be independent.” You teased.
“I’m trying to make it very hard for you to be homeless.” He chuckled, then his expression turned almost mischievous. “And, actually…”
You narrowed your eyes.
“What?”
“I have a proposal.” He sat on the edge of the bed and held out a hand for you. When you took it, he gently pulled you between his knees. “Even if you wanna find your own place... would you mind staying here just until I’m home from tour? I need someone to look after the house.”
You laughed immediately.
“You have security cameras.”
“Mm, but then who’ll keep my bed warm when I’m not there?”
You shook your head, still laughing.
“You require that from all your house sitters?”
“Only the pretty ones.” He smirked, making you shake your head.
“Anything else?”
He wrapped his arms around your waist and looked up at you with that soft, teasing smile.
“Yes.”
“What?”
“Text me every night and tell me you miss me.”
You smirked, cupping his face.
“Only if you tell me the same.”
He kissed the inside of your wrist.
“Good. Then it’s settled.”
“What is?”
“You’re officially my house sitter.”
"Glad to know I meet your criteria." You laughed and leaned down to kiss the tip of his nose.
“Now c’mon,” he squeezed your waist, “You’ve got one last bag, haven’t you?”
Your stomach dropped. The last bag was the one you very deliberately left until the end for a reason.
“Oh.” You laughed a little too brightly. “That one… don’t worry about it, it’s nothing.”
Noah immediately narrowed his eyes.
"Is that right?”
“It’s just… boring stuff, Noah.”
He smiled slowly as he stood up.
“Then you won’t mind me helping.”
You grabbed his hand, trying to steer him away from the hallway.
“You’ve already helped enough.” You said, but it was too late, he was already making his way to the guest room. Before you could stop him, he already picked up the bag.
“Noah.”
“Yes, baby?”
“That’s private.” You said, trying to sound serious, but the smile on your lips gave it away.
When he noticed your smile, he took a peek inside the bag. On top of the tissue paper, as if it had been thrown in after all the rest… was something pink and fluffy.
“They were a joke!” You made sure to say, trying to hold back your laughter as he held them up between you.
“Oh, you sure about that?” He teased, sitting down on the edge of the bed, “You went shopping with my credit card and came home with these?”
“I wanted to see your face!”
“What reaction did you think I’d have?” He smirked.
“Maybe laugh at them, say it’s ridiculous-”
“You don’t know me at all, baby.” He smiled, dangling the cuffs on one finger, “Come here.”
“What are you-”
He reached out and took your hand, pulling you towards him. He glanced back at the bed, noticing the metal headboard and smiling.
“This is the perfect place to test them out.”
You folded your arms.
“No.”
“Yes.”
“Noah-”
But he had his ways of making you do whatever he wanted, so a minute later you were sitting on the bed while Noah carefully fastened one cuff around your wrist. The fluffy trim tickled your skin, and you just couldn’t take it seriously.
He slipped the other cuff through one of the bars of the metal headboard, then reached for your other wrist.
Click.
You looked up at your wrists, your head resting against the pillow, then you looked at him.
“I feel so stupid.” You laughed, tugging your wrists… but the headboard didn’t move.
“Secure enough?” Noah grinned.
You rolled your eyes.
“Can you take them off now?”
“Already?”
“They’ve made their point.”
He leaned down and kissed your forehead.
“Fine.”
He reached into the little packet for the key and slid it into the lock…
But nothing happened.
“…Hm.” His smile faded.
You watched him try again. The key went in, it turned a little… then it stopped.
“…Noah?”
“It’s okay.” He sounded too calm about it. He then tried the other cuff, but it was the same result again.
You stared at him, but he was staring at your wrists. Then his eyes lowered to your face.
“Well… that’s interesting.”
“What?”
“It appears…” He cleared his throat. “…the novelty item you bought may not have undergone quality testing.”
Your eyes widened.
“So you're saying the key doesn’t work?”
He jiggled it again, but nothing was happening.
“Oh my god, Noah!”
“It’s fine.”
“You’re not the one cuffed to the bed!” You cried, tugging your wrists. “Do you think if I pull hard enough they’ll break?”
“Mm,” he hummed, thinking about it, “Maybe. But if you break the bed, I’ll have an interesting story to explain to my ex-roommate if he ever wants it back.”
“Oh my god.” You groaned, laughing at how ridiculous the situation was. “What are we gonna do?”
He sighed dramatically and reached for his phone.
“I’m gonna call Davis.”
Your jaw dropped, and your eyes widened.
“No, absolutely not.” You hissed, “Noah, put the phone down.”
He looked at you with a smirk while unlocking his phone.
“Sweetheart, Davis has my tools.”
“I don’t care!”
“He borrowed them when he was putting shelves in his garage, I have nothing else that’d get you out of these.”
“I don’t care! I would rather stay handcuffed to this bed forever than meet one of your friends for the first time like this.”
“You’ll be fine, baby.” He tapped Davis’s contact, then pressed the call button.
“Hey, whats up?” Davis answered after it called twice, sounding distracted.
“Hey. So, I got a weird question…”
“…How weird are we talking, dude?”
“Do you still have my bolt cutters? They were in the tool kit you borrowed.”
“Yeah.”
“Great!”
Davis was quiet for a second.
“...And why do you need them?”
Noah hesitated, and you could see him trying to come up with something.
“I’ve got a… uh, an emergency. Involving a bed… and metal…”
Davis laughed.
“Oh my god-“
“It’s not what you think.”
“Oh yeah? Want me to bring some lube too?” Davis snickered.
“No, it's not-" Noah shook his head, burying his face in his hand.
“Okay,” Davis laughed, “I’ll be on my way in five.”
Davis hung up and Noah lowered his phone. He tucked it back into his pocket, then sat beside you on the bed.
“He’ll be here in fifteen minutes.”
...
And true to his word, fifteen minutes later a car door slammed outside, and you froze.
“That must be him.” Noah said, standing back up.
But then… you heard barking?
“What was that?” You asked.
Noah groaned, dragging a hand down his face.
“That’ll be Max… Davis’s dog. Remember that time I showed you the photos-“
“Noah!!” Davis called out from downstairs, then you heard the front door slams shut, followed by more barking and then fast little footsteps skidding across the hardwood floor.
“Stay here.” Noah said as he patted your thigh.
“Is not as if I can move, can I?” You scoffed as Noah disappeared down the hall.
You heard a man laughing, a dog barking, and Noah saying, “Don’t let him upstairs,” which was immediately followed by both men shouting, “MAX, NO!”
Tiny paws thundered up the staircase, and your eyes widened. Before you know it, a small white dog burst into the room and launched himself on the bed, his tail wagging hard.
“No, buddy, don’t jump on her-” Noah called out as he followed, but it was too late.
Max was already enthusiastically licking your cheek, and you started laughing despite yourself.
“Well, hello to you too.” You grinned.
A second later Davis appeared in the doorway carrying a metal toolbox. Then he stopped dead, taking in the scene in front of him.
You- the girl from Noah’s lockscreen- handcuffed to the headboard in Noah’s tshirt? Max bouncing around the bed, Noah trying to catch him. Davis slowly lowered the toolbox, a look of confusion and amusement spreading across his face.
“…Oh!”
You shook your head.
“Please don’t ask.” You said, making Davis laugh.
“Noah, this is your bedroom emergency?”
“Well if I said Hi, Davis! I’ve got a girl handcuffed to my spare bed and the keys not working, come help me set her free! you’d probably call the police!”
Davis laughed again, then spotted the cuffs around your wrist.
“Ooh, nice colour. I had a pair of those once.” Davis smirked, setting the toolbox down on the bed. “Anyway, hi, I’m Davis.”
“…y/n.” You nodded, giving him a smile.
“Lovely to finally meet you.”
“Under the circumstances?” You raised an eyebrow.
He shrugged.
“Nah, I’ve seen weirder things in this house- before I come any closer... you have panties on, right?”
"Yes!" You laughed, blushing slightly.
Noah didn't say anything, but then Max finally seemed to settle, curling up beside your bare legs. Davis leaned over the bed and examined the cuffs.
“So you’re stuck in these, huh?”
“Yep.” You said, before shooting Noah a look, “Thanks to him.”
Davis reached into the toolbox, chuckling to himself.
“Don’t worry. These will get you out.” He pulled out a pair of small bolt cutters, making your eyes widen.
“You’re using them?”
“Unless you’d prefer to stay here forever.”
Davis positioned the cutters carefully around the chain between the cuffs.
“It’s nowhere near your skin, it won’t hurt you, I promise. Ready?”
“No.”
“Excellent.”
Snip.
The chain snapped in half, and you could move your hands again.
“I’m free.” You cheered.
“Not yet,” Davis smiled as he gently took your wrist, looking at the pink fluff around them. “These still have to come off.”
You looked down at the still fastened cuff and groaned. Davis turned the cuff over in his hands, studying the tiny lock on it.
“Hm.”
Your heart sank.
“What?”
“I’m just deciding whether to pick the lock or cut the whole thing.”
“Pick the lock sounds less scary.”
“Agreed.” Davis nodded.
He rummaged through the toolbox and pulled out a tiny flat tool and a paperclip that must’ve been kept in there for situations like these.
Noah sat down beside you on the bed now you were sat up, Max now sprawled upside down across his lap receiving belly rubs.
“You okay, baby?” He asked.
You leaned your head against his shoulder.
“I’m okay. Slightly humiliated, but I'll be fine.”
He kissed the top of your head, and before he could say anymore, Davis snorted without looking up from the lock.
“Noah’s been in worse situations, haven’t you?”
“Yeah, let’s not talk about that.” Noah chuckled, his arm wrapped around you.
Davis didn’t press, because he was concentrating too hard, his tongue poking out slightly as he picked the lock until…
Click.
The cuff sprang open.
"Aha!"
“Oh thank god.” Noah let out a sigh of relief.
“Nope, just Davis.” Davis smirked, taking the cuff before repeating the process on the other wrist. A few seconds later, the second cuff fell into his hand. “There you go.”
You immediately flexed your hands, a wide grin spread across your face.
“Thank you so much.”
Davis set the broken cuffs on the bed and looked between the two of you.
“So what, is this just a regular Tuesday activity around here?” Davis grinned.
Noah rubbed Max’s ears.
“It is now.”
"I might have to visit more often." Davis teased.
You buried your face in Noah’s shoulder.
“I’m never recovering from this.”
“Don’t be dramatic, baby.” Noah chuckled.
Davis laughed and started packing his tools away.
“Well, it was nice to meet you, y/n. Will we be seeing you when the guys are on tour?”
“You’re part of the band?” You asked, reaching over to rub Max’s tummy.
“No, I’m just a friend. I do merch designs for the guys but I don’t play… not anymore.”
Max then wriggled free and trotted over to investigate the shopping bags, tail wagging.
“Max, no. Leave Noah’s lingerie alone.” Davis called, making you scoff and Noah’s head snapped up.
“Excuse me?”
Davis looked up, a smirk on his face.
“Is that your black bra?”
As if it couldn't possibly get any worse.
“Dude!” Noah frowned, grabbing Max and carefully taking the bra strap out of his mouth, making Davis laugh.
“Okay, well we better go back home… c’mon, Max.”
You slid off the bed and followed them downstairs, relieved to be walking again. At the front door, Davis turned back to you with a warm smile.
“This guy,” he pointed at Noah, “He’s very fond of you, by the way.”
Noah groaned.
“Davis-“
“I’m serious. I haven’t seen him this happy in a long time. I like the way he smiles around you.”
Your heart softened, and Davis clipped Max’s leash on while Noah looked a little embarrassed.
“Okay, I’m leaving now. See you guys.”
“Bye!” You and Noah both waved by the door, Davis grinned, gave you a little salute, and headed down to the end of Noah’s drive, out to his car with Max trotting beside him.
Then you stepped back inside and the door clicked shut behind you. You slowly turned to Noah, and he slowly turned to you.
“Next time you go shopping for handcuffs, I’m coming with you to quality check them.”
A smirk played on your lips as you reached out, your hand pressed to his chest.
“Oh yeah?”
His hands slid around your waist, pulling you close as though he couldn’t bear there being even a few inches between you.
“Oh yeah.” He nodded solemnly. “In fact, I think maybe tomorrow, if you can leave work early… we could go shopping for more toys, hm? I’m gonna be gone for a while, and I hate to think all you have is your hand keeping you company…”
"What about the vibrator?"
"No baby, that's coming with me."

AN: Hello! A little request, and yes anon it was very cute! I hope I've done your idea justice! <3 Join my taglist here.
Warnings: Established relationship, swearing, fluffy!
Pairing: Noah Sebastian x F! reader.
Words: 3.2k
Noah just couldn’t help himself. It just slips out. It always just… slips out. Your name. Or the two words that always make his chest tighten with pride; my girlfriend. Because Noah was proud. Incredibly proud to be yours. And that you were his.
So who could blame him, really? Your name just… keeps slipping off his tongue as he reads something in the chat. Or when he’s telling a story. When he’s showing a picture. When he’s doing a giveaway, he can’t help but to mention that this particular merch design is your favourite.
Some days, he actually tried not to mention you. Not because he doesn’t want to, but because he’d realised that he had mentioned you over ten times his last stream.
Some days, that’s totally impossible. Like when he knows you’re watching.
In the middle of another round of the game he’s playing, his phone buzzes on the desk in front of him. Once. Twice. He glances down on the screen, sees the little red heart emoji in the contact name. You.
He smiled to himself, pausing the game, and grabbed his phone. Two texts from you. A photo of the TV in your small living room. His stream fills the screen. A teasing remark about him jumping earlier. He grinned, smile spreading from ear to ear.
From the comfort of your two-seater, you watch as he looks into the camera, smiling in a way that’s reserved just for you. It makes your heart beat a little faster.
“Hey,” he says, raising a finger towards the camera. “No teasing.”
You know it’s for you. And seemingly, so does the chat. Noah can’t help but laugh as his community puts the pieces together. Him pausing the game. Looking at his phone. His grin. The comment.
“Yeah,” Noah laughs. “She’s watching… Say hi everyone.”
And you can’t help but laugh too when the chat is quickly filled with greetings. You also catch someone commenting that it took Noah less than half an hour to mention you this time. You send him another text, smiling from ear to ear. On your screen, Noah glances down at his phone again.
“She says hi, guys,” he smiles before resuming the game.
_____
The chat was moving faster than Noah could read, comment flying past as he struggled to clear what seems to be an impossible level.
“What do I do?!” he groans, trying to see if anyone’s got a tip for him.
Then one comment caught his attention.
— Okay but that hoodie is sick.
Noah glanced down at himself, not really sure what hoodie he had thrown on that morning. He smiled when he recognised it.
“Yeah?” he grinned, tugging lightly at the sleeve of the black hoodie. “Thanks.”
His eyes flickered back to the screen.
“Where I got it?” he read aloud. “Not sure. My girlfriend bought it for me,” he said casually, already turning his attention back at the game and the stupid level he was currently stuck on.
It took the chat about three seconds.
— GIRLFRIEND?!
— THIS MAN IS TAKEN?!
— NOAH WHAT
— guys, have you been living under a rock?!
— EXCUSE ME
— relax ppl please! her name is y/n and we love her here!!!
Noah laughed, shaking his head, looking genuinely confused for a second. How could anyone that regularly tunes in to his streams not know about you? He knows he talks about you all the time. A little too much at times.
Another wave of messages drifted by. Noah just smiled, gaze dropping briefly to the sleeve of the hoodie you had picked out for him.
“She’s got good taste,” he stated simply.
_____
The chat wasn’t sure what to expect when they clicked on the stream that night. He was sitting in his usual chair, cup of tea in his hands, staring at the screen.
“So,” he said, dragging the word out. "Apparently, tonight I’m starting Animal Crossing.”
— LMAO WHAT
— ANIMAL CROSSING?!
— the tea too he’s in his soft era fr
— NOT NOAH PLAYING ANIMAL CROSSING
“I don’t even know,” Noah laughed, leaning back in his chair. “My girlfriend can’t stop talking about this game.”
There it was again. There you were again. The chat, of course, caught it immediately.
— GIRLFRIEND
— OH MY GOD HE DID IT AGAIN
Noah shook his head, laughing under his breath.
“Okay! Okay— that’s not…” he paused, watching the chat fill with messages. “You guys know I have a girlfriend by now. You don’t have to freak out every time I mention her.”
That only seemed to spur the chat on. He sighed dramatically.
“Anyway,” he started. “She says it’s relaxing. And apparently I need to build a nice island.”
He looked at the camera again, lips twitching into a smile.
“She sent me, like, a hundred videos,” he began. “Like, ‘look at this house’, ‘look at this garden’, ‘you should get this one’. I don’t even know what half of it is!”
— not her making you do homework
— SIMP!!!
“Yeah,” he laughed. “Basically.”
He started moving his character around in circles, trying to click stuff. He clearly had no idea what he was doing, trying to figure it out. After a few seconds, he glanced at the chat again.
“What the hell am I supposed to do?”
The chat started making suggestions at the same time. To add to the confusion, everyone suggested different things.
“Okay…” he said. “Maybe I should just call her?”
The chat exploded once again. He grinned as he pulled his phone out from his pocket.
“She’s gonna make fun of me.”
Judging by the smile on his face however, he clearly didn’t mind one bit.
_____
“We’re back from Yosemite,” Noah said with a grin.
The trip had been planned for a while. A mix of work and pleasure. A group of friends who, in one way or another, also happened to be coworkers, heading out to the mountains to hike, party, and, of course, work on the next record.
You had been hesitant about going. None of the other guys’ girlfriends had been able to make it, and you didn’t want to feel like you were intruding.
Noah had convinced you.
And now, a little while later, he was sitting in front of his stream, going through everything they had done.
“Yeah, it was really good. We actually got quite a bit done.”
The chat, knowing Noah by now, wasn’t entirely convinced that work had been the main priority.
— THATS IT?
— you defo did more than working
— what did you actually do noah?
“No. We saw bears!” Noah laughed.
He leaned forward, suddenly remembering something.
“Wait. I’ve uploaded all the pictures to my computer…”
He shared his screen with the chat, pulling up a slightly blurry picture of a bear, spending quite some time explaining what part of the fuzzy blur was the head.
“Okay, you wanna see more?” he asked after looking at the chat. “Alright.”
Pictures of mountain views, the plastic skeleton that had somehow made the trip with them dressed in a beanie and a jean jacket, pictures of wild animals and his friends followed. Noah made a little comment or told a story about every one as he went.
Then came the picture of the entire group, sitting on the roof of the minivan they’d rented.
And there you were.
Sitting beside Noah, his arm wrapped around your shoulder, your head resting against him.
The picture had been taken from a distance, making it a little difficult to see anyone properly. However, the chat collectively lost its mind.
— OH MY FUCKING GOD
— THAT'S HER!!!!
— NOOO CAUSE THATS HEEERRRRRR
— thank god she’s real
— MYSTERY GIRLFRIEND IN THE FLESH
— she looks so pretty noah <3
Noah actually blushed a little.
“Yeah…” he said with a small grin. There she is.”
His smile grew as he read a few comments out loud.
“She looks so pretty… Ugh, I know! The prettiest.”
There was a moment in which he didn’t say anything, seemingly thinking about something. And then, he made up his mind.
“You gotta see this one, hold on.”
The next picture showed you, standing alone near the edge of a cliff. Arms stretched out to either side, head thrown back. Eyes closed, a huge smile on your face. You looked completely free.
Noah just looked at the picture for a while, a soft smile playing across his face. It was his absolute favourite from the whole trip.
The next photo showed the two of you standing together on a rocky overlook, Noah's arms around your waist. You were smiling straight at the camera, your hands resting lightly over his. Noah wasn’t looking at the camera. His smile was wide, teeth showing, absolutely beaming — looking at you.
”Jolly took this one!”
And that was all it took for the chat to lose whatever little was left of its collective mind.
_____
There was a sudden, almost metallic clink.
“What the fuck?” Noah said, turning to face the corner of his room at the same time as Nick.
“What was—”
“Oh my god!”
“Hold on, we’ve got a fire!” Nick said, standing up.
“What the fuck..?” Noah laughed incredulously. “My candle just exploded, dude!”
Nick was already on the bed, blowing out the small flame that was spreading to the shelf.
“What the hell is even th— Oh shit! It’s on fire!”
Noah jumped up on the bed after Nick, trying to move the blackened the remains of said candle.
“Ah fuck! It's hot!”
“Yeah, it was on fire dude!”
“My whole desk was— my whole shelf was on fire dude!”
Noah stood on his bed, looking from the little white corner shelf to his bedding, noticing how every surface was now covered in wax.
“Burning shit down in here?” came a voice from the doorway.
“Jolly! Look at this shit!”
The chat was flying.
— WHAT THE FUCK
— OH MY GOD
— NOAH!!!!
— NICK LMAO
— EVERYTHING OK?
— NOT THE SOUTHERN ACCENT SLIPPING OUT HAHAHAH
One after one, his roommates entered the room to assess the damage, making jokes about how Noah’s room now smelled like fire. As Orie and Jesse walked in, Noah managed to pull the clip up and show them.
— HOW IS EVERYONE SO CALM
— like hello??? there was a fire in YOUR HOUSE
Noah leaned back in his chair, finally getting a good look at the damage. The candle was beyond saving, but it really hadn’t been that bad. The flame had been small, and Nick had gotten to it almost immediately. The shelf looked a little scorched and there was a faint smell of smoke that lingered in the room.
“You should call—” Nick said.
“Yeah,” Noah agreed, reaching for his phone on the desk. “I should.”
Your phone buzzed in your pocket. Noah was calling, you assumed it was to tell you when to come over for tacos, knowing he was streaming with Nick.
“Hi!”
“Hi, baby…”
You caught the tone of his voice straight away.
“What’s wrong?”
“Nothing!”
“Noah.”
He sighed.
“Okay. So… Nick is here, right?”
“Right.”
“And we were streaming…”
“Okay?”
“And you know that little shelf over the bed? My candle just… exploded!”
“Your candle exploded?” you laughed.
“Yeah!”
“Is anything on fire?”
There was a small pause.
“Not anymore…?”
“Noah! What do you mean ‘not anymore’?!”
_____
Sometimes, it was just easier for you to concentrate at Noah’s place rather than at home. It was something about the bigger space and the fact that you could sit outside in the garden that sometimes had you coming over to work rather than hang out. It felt nice, getting out of your shoe box of an apartment and enjoying the spring air in his garden. Laptop perched on your lap.
Noah was inside. Possibly working too, maybe playing a game, you weren’t too sure. You were however sure about two things; he hadn’t come downstairs, and since you were hungry — he probably was too.
The stream had been going for a little over two hours when Noah leaned back in his chair, rubbing a hand over his face. He’d been playing for long enough that even he was starting to lose track of time.
The chat was still moving steadily when the door to the left of him opened.
Noah glanced over his shoulder. You stepped into the room, holding a plate in one hand.
“Hey, baby.”
Noah’s entire expression softened.
“Hey.”
You walked over to him, setting the plate down on the desk beside his keyboard.
“You haven’t eaten.”
He looked at the sandwich, then back at you.
”I was gonna.”
”Mhm,” you mumbled, taking a step towards him.
The chat had heard you before they’d ever seen you live.
Your voice had occasionally drifted into the background of Noah’s streams. A laugh from somewhere in the house. A muffled question. The sound of you calling his name from another room.
They knew you were there.
They just hadn’t actually seen you, apart from the three pictures Noah had shared from the Yosemite trip.
Until now.
You leaned down a little further and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. Noah kissed you back just as naturally. His hand came up almost immediately, cupping your cheek for the briefest moment before falling back to the desk.
And then you looked at the camera. You froze. Your eyes widened slightly.
Noah followed your gaze. His smile grew.
“Oh.”
The chat was gone. Absolutely, completely gone.
— OH MY GOD
— THAT’S HER
— HIIIII Y/N!
— WE FINALLY SEE HER LIVE
— SHE KISSED HIM?!
— oh my goddd she made him lunch!!!!
— NOAH’S HAND ON HER FACE????
You looked at Noah, cheeks already turning pink.
“You’re streaming?”
Noah laughed.
“Yeah.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t think you’d come in.”
You glanced at the camera again, clearly unsure what to do now. The chat was moving too quickly for either of you to read properly. Finally, you gave the camera a small, embarrassed wave.
“Hi.”
Noah laughed under his breath.
“Say hi, everyone.”
You shook your head, smiling.
“Okay. I’m going back to work.”
“Okay, baby.”
You gave him one last smile before leaving the room. Noah watched you disappear through the doorway, still grinning.
Then he turned back to the camera.
“She takes such good care of me y’all.”
The chat somehow got even louder.
——-
Davis took another bite, chewing thoughtfully before pointing at Noah’s sandwich.
“It’s the dressing.”
Noah looked up.
“What?”
“The dressing. That’s what made yours better.”
Noah immediately nodded.
“Exactly.”
Darius groaned, looking right into the camera.
“Here we fucking go.”
“No, seriously,” Noah continued, already getting into it. “Dressing is everything. Like, people underestimate it so much.”
Davis laughed.
“It’s a BLT.”
“Exactly! And that’s why you need something to bring it together.”
Noah pointed to the bottle of dressing on the kitchen island.
“It’s the same thing with Caesar salad. Caesar salad is, like, the most basic salad ever. It’s lettuce, parmesan, chicken, croutons—”
“And dressing,” Davis added.
“Exactly! The dressing.”
He pointed at Davis like he’d just proven his entire argument.
“And my girlfriend makes the best Caesar salad I’ve ever had.”
Darius raised an eyebrow.
“Of course she does.”
Noah ignored him.
“She makes the dressing herself. From scratch.”
“From scratch?” Davis repeated.
“Yeah! Like, actually from scratch. It’s fucking insane.”
Noah was smiling now, clearly unable to stop himself.
“It’s so good. Like, genuinely. Best Caesar salad ever.”
Davis looked at his sandwich.
“Why have I never had that?”
Noah didn’t even hesitate.
“Dude, come over tomorrow! Both of you. She’s making it.”
Davis looked at Noah for a moment, then over at Darius.
”Who am I to say no to the best Caesar salad ever?” Darius laughed.
The day after, both Darius and Davis had to hand it to Noah. The salad was really good. Davis had hovered over you in the kitchen, watching you make the dressing.
”The secret is making the mayo yourself,” you explained. ”That, and a pinch of lemon zest.”
Darius still insisted the only reason Noah had won was the chipotle ranch, and that his bacon had been way better. Unfortunately for him though, he’d already lost the argument badly enough to have the words Noah’s BLT was better permanently tattooed on him.
In Comic Sans.
The moment he showed you the tattoo on the back of his calf, you lost it.
”There’s no way…” you said, hand covering your mouth as you tried to not scream with laughter.
”Hey! I lost a bet.”
”BUT YOU GOT IT TATTOOED?!”
Noah was leaning on the doorway, arms crossed over his chest, grinning widely.
“I told you it was gonna be worth it.”
“You did NOT tell me this!”
Noah just grinned.
“Looks good, though.”
“Noah!”
“What?”
”You could’ve just as easily lost!”
Noah just kept grinning.
He walked past you, briefly placing both hands on your hips as he passed, leaning down to press a quick kiss to your hair.
“I was never gonna lose to this fool.”
You laughed.
“You are so fucking cocky.”
“And yet,” he said, glancing back at Darius, “He has the tattoo to prove it.”
_____
Jordan was halfway through the tattoo when he leaned back, observing it for a bit before wiping it.
“I need more paper towels, dude.”
Noah glanced over to the little table with supplies, and then turned his face the other direction.
“Baby?” he called.
From somewhere in the house came your voice.
“Yes?”
“Could you bring us some more paper towels please?”
“Sure!”
“Thank you.”
A few seconds later, you appeared at the edge of the frame, placing a pile of paper towels beside Jordan. The second Noah’s gaze landed on you, his entire face changed. One second he was sitting there, a small grimace on his face, and in the next — he was grinning.
— DAMN LOOK HOW HE LIT UP
— LMAO HIS FACE
— hes such a simp lol
You looked down at the tattoo under his knee.
“God damn, baby. That looks so sick.”
His grin widened.
“You think?”
“Yeah. I love it!”
“See?” Noah nodded towards Jordan. “She gets it!”
Jordan laughed as you leaned against the wall, your back turned against the camera.
“Wanna get one next?”
“Fuck yeah,” you smiled. “Hook me up!”
“What do you have in mind?” Jordan asked, leaning over Noah's leg to continue the shading process.
You started to explain your idea while Jordan listened and Noah chimed in with his opinion. Before you knew how it had happened, you’d booked a session next week.
Eventually, you pushed yourself upright.
“Well, I’ll leave you two to it.”
Walking past Noah, you couldn’t resist. You learned down, pressing a quick kiss to his lips. This time however, you didn't freeze afterwards. You knew he was streaming, but you did it anyway.
You simply smiled at him before walking out of the room.
The chat exploded.
Noah just laughed, his eyes following you as you disappeared into another room.

“Are you sure I'm not imposing?” you asked your tall, tattooed boyfriend—who was currently carrying a stack of boxes that were full of your belongings.
He had been repeatedly assuring you your whole journey to L.A. that you were welcome with open arms to stay with him and his roommates, but you still felt like he was just being nice.
He warned you it would be a little cramped and that there wasn't much space, but he encouraged you to make the big move across the country when your previous living situation grew uncomfortable anyways.
“Babe, I promise. If I'm being honest, I'm excited that you're moving in,” he reassured you once again with a gentle smile as he turned to push the house's door open with his back. “I get to see my girlfriend everyday now instead of only a couple weeks a year or through a phone screen.”
Your cheeks warmed at his enthusiasm as you followed close behind him, taking in your new surroundings.
The ceiling was high, music could be heard playing from someone's room, and things were tidy, but the home was obviously lived in.
Noah's friend, Jolly, was cooking in the kitchen—or at least he was until he heard the front door open and he excitedly came out to see who had come in.
He saw you first, and shouted your name happily. “I forgot it was move-in day for you!”
His boisterous presence startled you and you grabbed the sleeve of your boyfriend's hoodie. “Hi, Joakim,” you acknowledged him meekly.
Noah immediately felt how tense you were and his gaze softened and his tone lowered. He dipped his head to meet your eyes. “Hey, how about you go sit down and rest for a bit? You've had a long drive today. I'll get Jesse, Michael, and Orie to help me with getting the last of your stuff up to my room. You didn't bring much anyways, it shouldn't take too long.”
You glanced between him and the living room before nodding and reluctantly letting go of him. “Okay, but let me know if you end up needing help.”
“We won't,” he said with a grin as he headed up the stairs, already calling for his other roommates. “And Jolly—be nice!” he added over the railing before disappearing down the hall.
You giggled quietly to yourself as you cautiously walked over to the living room and sat on the farthest piece of furniture.
“Be nice? I am being nice.” You heard Jolly mumble as he went back into the kitchen to check on his food.
Once settled in your chair, you pulled out your phone. Taking a moment to text the people who cared about you that you had made it to L.A., and did in fact not perish in the desert during the multi-day drive.
A few minutes later, Jolly came back out holding a Liquid Death can and bowl of chips. “Figured you needed a snack.” He set the offering onto the small table next to your seat of choice. “You're like a cat, you know that? So shy and skittish,” he commented in an attempt to lighten the mood.
“Mhm, funny. Noah makes that same comparison sometimes too,” you tried to joke back quietly as you reached for the food and drink.
Just then, a roar of fast footsteps came barreling down the stairs, causing you to tense up again. The other three occupants of the home rushed into the living room, heading for the front door with Noah trailing behind them. As he passed by the two of you, he gave you a sheepish smile and mouthed ‘sorry’.
You didn't catch it, but Jolly gave you a sympathetic look at how out of place you clearly felt.
After you watched the four men go out to your car to grab more of your stuff, you set the snacks back down, the adrenaline spike ruining what little appetite you had, and you curled up tight in your chair.
The Swedish man could see you were feeling anxious, but he also knew you just enough to know that the only one who could bring your nerves back down was Noah, and he was busy. So, Jolly gives you a small nod and makes his way back to the kitchen to give you some space.
For the next twenty minutes you watched Noah lead a group of very unruly guys from your car to his room multiple times, with towers of cardboard boxes and a few totes bags. You heard various shouts of ‘be careful with that!’ and ‘no, set that there, not there!’ from the direction of your new room.
Eventually, the last of your stuff was in the house, signaled by the telltale sound of the doors and trunk of your car being slammed shut.
Noah came in, brushing his hands together, looking very proud of himself. “All done! You're officially moved in,” he said happily as he walked over and squeezed himself into the love seat with you—which was very much only meant for one person.
He maneuvered you around until you were sitting on his lap, your back to his chest, his arms wrapped tightly around your waist, and his head resting on your shoulder.
You two fit together like perfect cut puzzle pieces.
The both of you sat like that for a little while, watching stupid videos on your phone, Noah even stole your device a few times to check up on your games.
“Hey! Don't rename my Pokémon again!” you exclaimed as you caught him with Pokémon GO opened and your list of caught creatures filling the screen.
“Dinner is ready!” Jolly's voice interrupted, yelling to get the attention of everyone in the house. “You guys hungry?” he turned to ask the two of you at a more normal volume.
Noah craned his head to look at you from his spot behind you. “I am. I assume you are? The last meal you ate was the shitty hotel breakfast in Gallup right?”
You lean back into Noah at his question, growing quiet under the gaze of his friend. “Yeah, it was pretty bad…”
Your boyfriend could read you like an open book and could tell you were still on edge from all the change in scenery and new people. His thumb rubbed up and down over your hip, a soothing gesture. “How about I make us two plates and I'll meet you up in my—” Noah stopped himself before rewording, “… our room?”
God, he always knew just what you needed.
“Y-Yeah, I would like that.”
You give the other man an apologetic smile as you stand up from Noah's lap, and mumble a barely audible ‘thank you’, before turning and hurrying up the stairs.
Once you were out of sight, Jolly looked at Noah confused. “Is she okay?”
“Yeah, just… this is all kind of a lot for her. She'll come out of her shell eventually.”

A week passed by and you had started to settle into your new home (albeit slowly) but progress was progress.
The first few days were mainly spent sleeping. The long trip from Virginia to California had wiped you out, and the three hour time difference took your body a few days to adjust to.
Noah stayed close by in case you needed him, and he switched to playing chiller games on stream so his frustrated shouting didn't interrupt your rest.
He understood your boundaries and what caused your anxiety to increase, but he also tried to gently encourage you to spend some time outside of your shared bedroom as the week went on.
“How about you come downstairs with me, hm? I have some tracks I need to work on on my laptop and I would love the company,” he asked one afternoon.
You looked away from the project you were crocheting and down at the hand he was holding out to you, hesitating for just a moment before grabbing it. “Alright.”
Noah continued to hold your hand as you two walked down the stairs. You held your yarn and hook tightly as you stepped into the living room, seeing that Jesse and Jolly were already sitting down working on their own stuff.
The TV was playing one of the guys' music playlist, creating a rather peaceful environment. They both acknowledged Noah and you before returning their attention to their previous tasks.
You two sat down on the empty couch, Noah throwing his legs up on the coffee table and balancing his computer on his lap, before opening his arm in invitation.
You took your spot next to him, setting your yarn bowl down and unfolding your project to continue where you left off as Noah started to click away.
Jolly tried to keep his focus on the audio he was working on, but his curiosity got the best of him. He said your name to grab your attention. “What is that you're working on?”
“Oh,” you said, caught off guard, “It's a panel for a sweater I'm making for Noah…” You timidly hold it up, showing him the progress so far.
“You're making him a sweater?” Jolly asked with a grin. He wasn't teasing though, he thought the gesture was sweet.
“Yeah… he kept wearing—” You side eye the man next to you. “—and then stole the oversized one I made myself last time I flew out here to visit. I figured he needs his own so I can have mine back.”
“Is that Bad Omens’ crown of thorns logo?” Jesse chimed in.
“Yeah! Does it look okay? I had to figure out how to do it on my own ‘cause there wasn't an existing pattern…”
Noah was smiling as his eyes drifted from his screen to you.
“It's so good!” Jesse encouraged.
“Thanks…” you replied shyly as you shimmied further into the safety of Noah's side.
Your boyfriend kissed the top of your head, happy to see you interacting with his friends. A small step in the right direction in his eyes.
That was the first day since moving in that you spent a significant amount of time outside of Noah and yours room.
After a few hours of work, Noah closed his laptop and stretched, letting out an overly dramatic yawn. “I'm gonna go plug my computer in to charge and change into something cooler since someone insists on having the AC off,” Noah said pointedly at Jolly.
You take that as your queue to grab your stuff and stand up with him.
“Oh, no, baby, you can stay down here if you want. I'll only be up there for a few minutes.”
You glanced behind you, looking at the other two, who were now looking at you with concerned expressions. You simply shook your head, the sense of calm you felt before making way for growing anxiety. You weren't necessarily ready to hangout with your boyfriend's roommates on your own yet.
Noah immediately knew that this wasn't a moment to push and instead he just nodded. “Okay. That's okay too.” He looked at his friends before adding, “We'll be back down in a little bit for dinner.”
They gave each other confused looks before mumbling out ‘yeah… okay…’ and ‘see you later’ as they watched the both of you head back upstairs.
— ✶ —
It had been nearly a month since you moved to L.A., and though you were ever so slowly becoming more comfortable in your new environment, some days it felt like your progress was one step forward and two steps back.
Today however, seemed to be a small turning point.
Jesse, Jolly, Michael, and Noah were out on a grocery trip. Which left Orie and you in charge of the house, and he had decided he was going to take this as an opportunity to help you feel more at home by formally introducing you to his dog, Harper. He felt you would maybe find some common ground with her.
“Harper, come here!” Orie called as he walked down the stairs, his eyes scanning the living room to make sure you were still where he last saw you. You had a habit of sneaking off to your bedroom without catching anyone's attention.
At the sound of little claws tapping and socks padding on the hardwood, you looked up.
“I know you've probably seen her around, but she's kind of like you—a little nervous, a little timid. I thought now would be a good time for you to actually meet her,” he explained as the little black and white dog followed close to him. “Go on, Harp, she's okay,” he said to her.
“Hi, Harper…” you cooed quietly, slipping out of your seat onto the floor to be more at her level.
She cautiously sniffed your open palm as you held it out to her. When she didn't cower away, you gently ran your fingers along the fur on top of her head. Surprisingly, she leaned her little face into your touch.
“She seems to like you,” Orie commented.
“You think?” you asked, a little shocked she seemed to warm up to you so fast, but maybe she just sensed your own anxious energy and felt kinship.
“I do.” He chuckled. “I have to go run a few of my own errands, mind if she hangs out with you while I'm gone? Normally at least one of the guys is here to keep her company but…”
“Yeah, that's okay.” You continue to pet Harper as Orie thanked you and grabbed his keys, before heading out the door.
“Looks like it's just you and me, huh?” you murmur to the dog sitting in front of you, her tail thumping against the floor apprehensively.
You glanced around before standing. Harper immediately fell into step behind you as you grabbed the TV remote and one of the throw blankets, before settling on the couch.
“Up, Harper,” you said to her, patting the space next to you. “The house is quiet, perfect for relaxing.”
Her big worried eyes looked at you and then the spot you are trying to get her to jump up on, as if she was weighing her options.
“Come on, it's okay.”
She pauses for a second more and then very clumsily pulls herself up onto the couch like it's her first time doing so.
“Good girl!” you praise her, giving her a few more pats before you lay down.
You press yourself tightly against the back of the couch so Harper had room to lay down next to you if she wanted.
Eventually, she settled. Her warm little body was close to yours, and her eyes closed as she grew comfortable.
You tried to stay awake for a little longer, in case Harper got anxious, but her soft breathing and the feeling of her fur under your finger tips lulled you to sleep before you even realized how tired you actually were.
An hour later, Noah softly called your name as he carried in some of the groceries, trying to give you a warning to the loud roommates that were about to pile in.
When you didn't reply, he set the bags down on the counter and then wandered around looking for you.
He found you on the couch out cold with Harper curled up next to you. “Oh my God…” he whispered as he approached.
The other three started to bring more groceries in and Noah quickly ran up to them to shush them. “She's asleep on the couch with Harper.” He pointed towards your direction, a proud smile on his face. He knew you often only felt comfortable enough to sleep in the confines of your guys’ room, but here you were snoozing in the common area. “We’re going to be silent while putting groceries away, got it? Silent.”
They all nodded at seeing how serious Noah was about keeping quiet. The four of them marched like good little soldiers into the kitchen to start putting away everything.
Once they were done, Noah asked them to please keep the noise down for a bit longer, before he walked out to the living room to check on you.
You were still asleep, but Harper stirred when she sensed another person nearby, wagging her tail when she realized it was just Noah.
“Hi, Harper. You kept my girl company while I was gone? Good, Harp,” he praised.
“No… Noah?” you mumbled as you started to wake up at the sound of your boyfriend's voice.
“Hey, baby. Did you take a nice nap with Harper?”
You only nodded before slowly sitting up, trying to get your bearings. “How'd grocery shopping go?” you asked as you stifled a yawn.
“It went okay, got some drinks and snacks to put upstairs in our little fridge,” he answered as he looked at you with a lopsided smile, his eyes full of love at just how adorable you were in the moment. All sleepy, curled up with a dog, fighting to stay awake and hold a conversation.
You rubbed your eyes again, Noah finally coming into focus. “What?” you questioned when you saw his goofy look.
“Nothing, you're just so cute.” His smile widened. “Plus, I'm happy you’re finally feeling a bit more comfortable here.”
Your lips mirrored his. “Yeah, I guess I am,” you say softly.
— ✶ —
Unfortunately, most of the progress you had made was undone a few nights later.
Noah was streaming Visage while you laid in bed sketching some merch designs on your tablet.
You heard him complaining about how he was lost on what to do when everything was interrupted by a loud ‘Noah!’ coming from the hallway.
You jumped just as the door opened and Noah swiveled in his chair, catching your eyes on him briefly and giving you a look that said ‘hey, it's okay’, as he fully turned his attention to the intruders.
“What up?”
“Come look. Or just… look.” Orie said as the other roommates dragged in a massive bean bag chair while making loud barking and hooting noises. You felt like you were in high school again and the rowdy teenage boys were making as much noise as possible just for the sake of making noise.
By now you had sat up on the bed, pressing your back against the wall, tucking your legs under yourself, and clutching your tablet to your chest as you watched the five men talk to each other.
They made jokes and laughed, having fun with playfully interrupting their friend's stream, but all you could focus on was how sick you suddenly felt.
They hadn't meant to—of course they hadn't meant to—but the loudness of it all had scared you so bad. You tried your best to hide how startled you were by meekly laughing along, but Noah knew. He always knew.
The others suggested Noah should try the bean bag out, so he got up and switched spots with Jesse. “It's pretty good,” he commented before twisting around to look over at you. “Baby, come here.”
You looked at him confused but did as asked.
You scooted off the bed and walked the few steps over to him, sitting down next to him.
Your guys’ roommates continued to chat amongst themselves. Noah took the opportunity to lean over, his mouth close to your ear as his large hand rubbed your shoulder and he pulled you close to his side. “You okay?” he asked quietly, so only you could hear him.
You nodded, though it was really only a small movement of your head that was barely noticeable.
Noah could tell you were lying, but he also was not going to pry further with his friends around and while being live on stream, so he simply kissed your temple before pulling you even closer to him. In this position he could feel the start of your panicked, shallow breathing, as your ribs brushed against his quickly.
He kept up with the conversation, trying to keep the attention away from you as best he could. “This room is too small for six people,” he teased, but also was hoping they'd take the hint.
Eventually, his friends had enough of annoying him and rolled their bean bag back out of the room, their voices carrying loudly throughout the house as they threatened to throw it off the balcony for fun.
Noah glanced at you as you sat back on the bed, whispering ‘let me wrap up the stream’.
“IRL raid,” he read the message aloud someone left in chat when he sat back down with a laugh. “Never a dull moment here on this stream.”
He kept up his happy facade for a few more minutes until he lied to the viewers and said he was feeling tired. He wasn't, you knew that (he had taken a nap before streaming today) but he was worried about and wanted to take care of you.
With a little wave and a few clicks of his mouse, he shut all the Twitch stuff down, before pulling up his music player so the room wasn't so quiet.
“Baby…” he said softly as he walked over to you as you sat on the bed. “What happened?”
“S-Sorry…” you mumbled, holding back tears. You felt so stupid for getting scared over a little noise.
“You don't need to apologize. I just… I thought you were feeling more comfortable around the guys?”
“I am…” You paused. “I was…”
Noah looked at you with sad eyes as he reached out to take your hand. “Was it because of them being so loud?”
You nodded. “I know they didn't mean to, I doubt they even noticed how I reacted…”
They did, but Noah didn't tell you that. He didn't tell you that shortly after the guys left the room and he was ending his stream, he got a quick text from Jolly asking if you were alright.
“They didn't mean to scare you, baby, but that doesn't change that they inadvertently made you feel unsafe,” he agreed.
You pressed the palm of your free hand hard into your eye. So hard that you felt a dull ache and streaks of light filled the blackness. “I hate feeling like this.”
“I know, baby, I know,” he tried to soothe you as he moved closer, grabbing your wrist and pulling your hand away before you gave yourself a headache.
You just felt so annoyed at yourself. “I… I think I want to go to bed. I-I know it's early but—”
“We can go to bed, it's not insanely early.”
“Noah, you don't have to go to bed and miss out on getting work done or hanging out with your friends just because my brain is being stupid—”
“Hey. What did I say about doing that?”
You sigh, just a hint of a twitch at the corner of your lips making its way through your sad expression. “‘Stop being mean to my girlfriend’,” you replied with a small, playful eye roll.
“Yeah, exactly. Stop being me to my girlfriend,” he joked softly. He watched you for another moment before taking charge. “Alright, let's get you comfy and then we can lay down and I can cuddle away your bad thoughts.”
“You're such a sap…” you tried to tease him, but the laugh that followed was wobbly.
“Oh, baby, please don't cry. Come on, I'll grab your pajama shorts and one of my hoodies,” he pleaded as he hurried around the small room, grabbing clothes for you to change into.
Within minutes you were in one of Noah's worn out Bad Omens hoodies and your Halloween pajama shorts, curled up in bed with blankets as Noah moved around, dimming and turning off lights, and putting on quiet lo-fi music.
“Okay, chill vibes… check, comfy clothes… check,” he mumbled off his mental check list before coming closer to your cozy nest of a bed. “Now scoot over, time for your big scary boyfriend to fend off your anxiety,” he said as he plopped down onto the mattress.
Your laugh was now wet sounding with the tears that had finally escaped. “Really, Noah, you don't have to go to bed at eleven p.m. just cause I don't feel great.”
“Shhh. I've made up my mind, now seriously, make some room for me.”
You move over and he wastes no time clamoring in next to you, his long, inked arms wrapping around you and pulling you so close to him it's hard to tell where he ends and you start.
His hand came up to cradle your head, tucking you safely into him. “No more anxiety. No more crying. Listen to my breathing, try to mimic it,” he said before taking a deep breath and then exhaling slowly. “We're gonna get a good night's rest and I promise you'll feel better in the morning, okay?”
You nod, a shaky breath leaving you before burying your face into Noah's neck, like you could hide there forever. “I hope so…”
— ✶ —
Noah had fallen asleep hours ago, but by two a.m. you were wide awake still, only having fallen half a sleep a few times, never fully succumbing to rest.
Now, left alone with your thoughts, you could feel the familiar feelings of panic set it again.
The fast heart rate and quick expanding and deflating of your lungs were obvious signs. The worst though was the warmth. Your body felt feverish, your skin tingled. The lump in your throat was becoming painful as you desperately held back your tears.
You tried to stay quiet, but a small sob was able to escape and you quickly clamped your hand over your mouth.
Don't wake Noah.
“... Baby?” your boyfriend's sleep heavy voice asked you from behind as his arms instinctively pulled you closer to his chest.
“G-Go… go back to s-sleep,” you croak out, trying your best to sound normal.
Of course, he didn't listen, a moment later the mattress wobbled as Noah turned and reached over to turn on a lamp. In the flood of amber light, your troubled state was made obvious.
“Oh, baby. Baby… baby. What's wrong?” He quickly sat up to get a better look at you. Your chest rose and sank rapidly, you were shaking, and you looked so… frightened
“I'm s-sorry…” your voice was small and timid.
“Sorry for what, angel?”
“F-For being scared, all the time.”
Noah frowned, his heart felt like it was cracking. The person he loved most was apologizing for something she couldn't control. Blaming herself for a fear that was put on to her by others.
“Hey, no, no, no. You don't need to apologize,” Noah was quick to say.
“But I do!” you sobbed. There was a mess of emotions eating at you and it was becoming hard to not just break completely. “You're friends must think I'm so strange! I feel like I'm holding you back…”
“Woah, woah. The guys don't think you're ‘strange’, I've told them you are just a little shy, they get it. And ‘holding me back'? Baby, what are you talking about?”
You sit up quickly with a huff, Noah taking notice of how almost agitated you were getting. “H-How many times have you had to cancel plans because I'm having a bad time? O-Or call it a night or end a stream early? How many times have you h-had to step out of a room during a-an after party because I needed you to call me?”
“Angel…”
“I just…” Your face crumpled and you buried your head in your hands. “Why do you put up with me?”
If Noah wasn't fully awake yet, he was now. He scrambled to get closer to you, grabbing your face oh so gently. “Hey, look at me.” When you just shake your head and cry harder he softly says your name. “Look at me.”
When you finally give in and meet his gaze, he looks so distressed at your state.
“Oh, baby, don't look at me like that…” He tried to laugh a little, knowing what he just asked you to do, but it cracked half way through and you could see his own eyes welling with tears. “I'm not ‘putting up with you’. If you think that's what I'm doing… I've done a shit job at being a good boyfriend.”
“Noah—”
“I drop everything I'm doing at a moment's notice because you need me—and that's not a negative thing—because I love you. You do the same for me all the time when I get too in my head about stuff, and you're not ‘putting up with me’, right?”
“I-I guess not…”
“I'd hope not, ‘cause that's what you do when you're with someone for the long haul, baby. You're there for them for the good and the bad, not just the good.”
“But I'm bad most of the time.”
“No, no. No you are not,” he is quick to correct.
“I am—”
“No.”
You stare at Noah, his expression unwavering. It was filled with determination and accompanied by a disapproving frown.
“You are struggling. That's different. Struggling is not bad. It just happens sometimes. Needing help doesn't make you bad.”
Your mouth opened and closed, as if you were trying to speak but the words wouldn't form.
“Hey, it's okay, you're okay. If you have something you want to say, take your time, but if words are failing, it's okay to just cry. I'm right here.”
You finally let down what crumbling walls you had built up in an attempt to not disturb your boyfriend tonight and fell into his chest.
Noah didn't hesitate. He held you so tightly, like maybe he could squeeze all the misery out of your body. “You're okay, baby. I know you don't feel okay right now, but you will, eventually,” he whispered.
“How do you know that? W-What if I'm like this forever? Distrusting and scared of everyone and everything…”
He pulled away just enough to look at you. “I know that because you have already improved. Even if you don't see it, I see it, the guys see it.” He gives you a soft smile. “Remember how you were when we first started dating all those years ago? You flinched if my hand grazed your back, you looked at me for approval for everything because you didn't want to upset me, even in a minor way. Now look at you! You come to me for comfort, you've gotten better at telling me if you need space or when something is bothering you.”
“Y-Yeah… but that's ‘cause you're my boyfriend. I trust you.”
“But you were weary of me at one point.” He waited for you to say something back, but when you didn't, he continued, “I remember when I finally realized you were starting to trust me fully.”
You gave him a confused look. “What?” You sniffled as you tried to calm your crying.
“We were out walking around Richmond after one of my first shows with Immoralist. Everyone was being loud and rowdy and you were sticking close to me—which already made me feel really special—but then a loud motorcycle sped by while we were waiting at a cross walk, and instead of you getting startled and curling in on yourself, you stepped closer to me and grabbed my arm, like I would keep you safe—and I would.”
“Oh… yeah. I do remember that, the muffler popping and the revving really scared me ‘cause it was so sudden and loud… I don't remember consciously reaching for you, I just know I did.”
“And you didn't let go of me for the rest of the night,” he added with a grin.
You gave him your own wobbly smile.
“Aw, baby, you're gonna break my heart if you keep looking at me like that.”
“S-Sorry… I just… I still don't feel great…”
Noah frowned again. “Why, angel?” He noticed your breathing was still a little panicky and he brought his hand up to rest over your heart, feeling a horrible, rapid fluttering pulse under his palm. “Oh, my poor girl…”
“I just don't feel good, Noah…” you whimpered. “My brain is still so jumbled—less loud—but still. A-And the adrenaline from the anxiety is just making me feel too hot and nauseous—”
“Shhh. It's okay. We can figure this out.” He briefly kissed your forehead. “Okay, so you're feeling a little warm, if you're comfortable, how about we take off the hoodie you're wearing?”
“Noah, I'm not wearing anything under this—”
“Then I'll get one of my tank tops, but baby, I've seen you before.” He gently rubbed your shoulder. “This is so you feel more comfortable and less overstimulated. Nothing else has to happen just ‘cause you're undressed.”
You hesitated, but eventually nodded. Noah gave you a reassuring smile before letting his hands wander down to the hem of your hoodie, gently pulling it up and off.
Once it was off, you felt warm for a different reason, the heat rising to your cheeks.
“You okay?”
“Mhm.”
“Words, baby.”
“Yeah, I'm okay, I feel a little cooler now.”
He raised an eyebrow, knowing there was more on your mind.
“Okay, I'm cooling off but my mind is still being too much. I just want it to be quiet.” You sounded so frustrated and like you were on the verge of tears again.
“Alright, that's okay. What do you think will help calm your thoughts?”
You feel your face heating up more before biting your lip. “I… Maybe… You?”
“Me?”
You nod.
To further get your point across, you move closer to Noah, basically climbing on his lap, your bare chest pressed to his still covered one as you straddled his legs.
“Oh… baby, no.”
“Why not?”
“Because you just had an anxiety attack and you're still a little out of it. I don't want to take advantage of you.”
You make a dissatisfied sound at that explanation. “Noah…”
“I love you, but we aren't doing that tonight, okay?”
Your eyes welled up again. Not to guilt him, but your emotions were already all over the place and this felt more like rejection than him protecting you.
“Oh no… Hey, you don't need to cry, angel.”
“I just… I want to feel you… I want to be close to you. It makes my brain quiet.”
He gives you a sad, but sympathetic look. “I know, I know. And trust me—” He swallows hard, his own cheeks tinting to a pink as his gaze looks down at you. “—I want to.”
You press yourself closer to him in every way possible. “Baby,” you sighed.
“How about we try something else, hm? ‘Cause you are really not in the right head space for sex right now.”
You slump into his arms, nodding against his shoulder.
“Here, sit back for a second, I'm gonna take my shirt off.”
You watched him as he revealed his tattooed torso to you and without thinking your hands ran along the inked skin.
“I know, I'm pretty to look at, but I had something else in mind.” His own hand comes up to catch yours for a moment. “Lay down for me?”
Your face warms more as you sink back into the mattress like he asked you to.
Noah moved to hover over you, his legs between yours, his long hair falling over his shoulders and swaying with every movement. “Still okay?”
You nod, your arms coming up to wrap around his neck, pulling him down on top of you, so skin was touching skin.
Feeling him like this felt like heaven and so secure.
One of his hands came down to grab your hip, pulling you against him more before he leaned in and gently kissed you, pressing the two of you even closer.
Your thoughts started to stop spiraling as Noah deepened the kiss and his free hand wandered across your exposed skin, happy little hums leaving both of you. Sadly, after a minute, you both needed air and pulled away from one another.
The two of you panted as you rested your foreheads together. “How's your brain doin’?” Noah asked.
“Quieter,” you answer softly.
“Good.” He gave you a sleepy smile before diving his lips back into yours.
The next time you pulled away for air, Noah didn't stop with his kisses while you caught your breath. His lips descended down your neck to your shoulders.
“Does my angel feel safe under me?” he asked, knowing the answer, his voice growing just a little husky. “Is that why your mind stops racing when we're like this?” He leaves more kisses before you can respond, paying attention to that spot on your neck that caused you to make the sweetest of sounds.
This goes on for some time. Nothing too extreme comes of it other than both of you having kiss swollen lips, maybe a few love bites, and a text from one of Noah's roommates asking if you two could keep the volume to a minimum.
Eventually, the affection became less hungry and more sleepy. Noah was still on top of you, keeping you protectively tucked under his body as you slowly started to doze off as he left little pecks along your jaw and cheeks, occasionally tugging you closer, which didn't seem possible.
“Are you feeling better, baby?” he cooed.
Your only response is a tired ‘mhm’ as you felt like you were melting into the sheets under Noah's touches.
When he was satisfied with how much you had finally calmed down, he moved to get off you.
“No…” you whined as you weakly tightened your arms around him.
Noah chuckled. “No?”
“Comfy.”
“Babe, I'm not a weighted blanket.”
“Yes you are. So, shush… weighted blankets don't talk,” you mumbled, half awake as you bury your face into his neck, lightly nipping the skin there as a warning.
“Okay, okay,” Noah laughed and lowered himself back down onto you, the side of his face on your chest, hearing your now much more calm heartbeat. “I'll stay like this if it helps you sleep.”
Your hand came up to rest on his head, your fingers tangling with his hair and lightly using your nails to scratch his scalp. “Already on my way to dreamland,” you whispered, words starting to slur together.
Noah too felt the pull of sleep the more he relaxed, and followed close behind you in finally getting some rest that night.
— ✶ —
By 7 a.m., Noah was awake after only a couple hours of sleep.
He lifted his head, seeing you were still completely out, and decided to get up and head downstairs to make some tea. He hoped a warm drink would make him tired and allow him to go back to bed for a few more hours.
As he rounded the corner to start making his way down to the Kitchen, he peered over the railing and saw Jolly was already up and typing away on his laptop in the living room with his guitar propped up next to him.
“The fuck are you doing up?” Noah mumbled as he made it to the bottom step. He yawned and stretched, forgetting he was still in just his shorts.
“Could ask you the same,” his friend retorted without looking up, but Noah could hear the grin in his words.
“Shut up.” He grabbed a nearby pillow and nailed the back of Jolly's head with it.
“Hey!” Jolly scolded, but there wasn't any real heat behind it. “So you two have fun? Michael texted the group chat to complain,” he teased and wiggled his eyebrows.
“What?” Noah was still half asleep. “Oh… she had a bad night last night. We weren't… I know it sounded like it sort of, but we weren't—I wouldn't, not with how upset she was.”
Now Jolly raised an eyebrow.
“I'm not lying.” Noah moved to sit in the chair across from the couch before continuing. “Last night… during my stream? When you guys all came into my room with the bean bag chair. I know you guys didn't mean to, but all the commotion… it scared her real bad. She tried to hide it, but I know you noticed she was a bit off, and I'm sure the others did.”
“Can I ask you something? And I get if you don't want to share, but why is she… you know…”
“So jumpy?” Noah finished Jolly's sentence for him.
“Yeah. Me and the guys have been kind of wondering. Not to judge, but so that we could maybe help? Or at least not make things worse? I know before she moved in you warned us she was shy, but sometimes this seems to be a bit more than that.”
Noah let out a sigh, leaning back into the chair and running his hands down his face. “Okay…. She hasn't told me everything, even after all these years, but she's shared enough and I've seen enough that I can put the pieces together.”
Jolly nodded, asking him to continue.
“She didn't have the most… calm home environment. A lot of fighting—mainly screaming matches, but also sometimes worse. I remember I went over to her house one time when we were teenagers and her parents basically started shit with each other the second I walked in. My poor girl looked so ashamed but also wide-eyed and terrified, like a deer in the headlights. Like she knew what this yelling could turn into.”
His friend nodded again, not really knowing what to say.
“She also has had some bad experiences with men, so combine that with loud noises, you get… how she's been acting.”
“That makes a lot more sense.”
“She's trying though, she really is. It's just…”
“Hard?”
“Yeah.”
“Why didn't you tell us this before she moved in? Me and the guys would have probably dialed down our craziness until she adjusted.”
“‘Cause she asked me not to. I had suggested it—trust me. She just doesn't like to inconvenience people, even at the cost of her own peace.”
“She wouldn't have been inconveniencing us.”
“I know. She's just… on edge, all the time. She definitely has gotten more comfortable here—she has. It's just a slow process.”
“Maybe I can relay this information to the rest of the guys? Just so everyone is on the same page?”
Noah looked up, seeing Jolly had a sincere expression. “You guys don't…” He sighed again. “Yeah, that would be helpful, at least for a little bit until she gets to know you four better.”
“Dude, we aren't gonna be bothered by having to adjust a bit so the person you care about can feel more comfortable here. What kind of friends would we be?”
“Yeah… I guess you're right. Thank you, and tell the guys thank you too. I promise she is the funniest person and so sweet once she opens up, it just takes time.”
— ✶ —
A month and a half after you moved in, all the roommates (minus Noah and you) started planning a movie night.
“Maybe me and Jesse invite Rina and Ingrid?” Jolly suggested as he talked to Orie. “You know, so it's not just a bunch of dudes and… her.”
“Yeah, I like that idea, I know Noah has also wanted her to make some friends out here, so maybe that would be a push in the right direction?”
“I'll text Jesse.”
Over the next few days the guys finalize their plans. Getting snacks, picking out the movies, and making the living room cozy.
Just as the other girlfriends got there, Noah entered the living room. “Whatcha guys doing?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, not knowing why there was suddenly a gathering happening in their home.
“Oh, dude!” Orie jumped up from his seat. “Movie night!” he answered with a dramatic wave of his hands towards the TV.
“Uh huh…”
“It was Jolly's idea. We've all been pretty busy recently, plus we kinda figured it would be a good opportunity for our new roommate to get to know us better.” The said new roommate being you.
“Oh?”
“Jolly didn't let you know?”
“No…” Noah shook his head, turning his attention to said Swedish man who was already comfy on the couch with Rina.
“Shit. I forgot, didn't I?” Jolly said, though he always planned on this being a last minute thing to ask Noah.
“Yeah, man.”
“Well—” He turned around on the sofa, resting his elbows on the back of it to look at him. “You two wanna join us for movie night?”
“I don't know, Jolly…”
“Come on! We’ll be chill, I promise. Plus, they're Studio Ghibli movies, we can't get too crazy.”
Noah hesitated, biting his lip in thought before speaking, “Alright. I'll ask her, but no guarantees.”
Jolly grinned before turning back around. “Let her know we have snacks.”
“She's not a cat you can lure out with treats!” Noah laughed.
“That's what you think.”
Noah went up the stairs and about ten minutes later came back down them with you in tow.
“There she is!” Jesse greeted. His girlfriend, Ingrid, who was sitting on his lap, gave you a small wave too.
“Hi,” you say meekly to the room of people. “What… What movies are we watching?” You choke out nervously, trying to sound more confident.
“Yeah, what movies? You said Studio Ghibli but didn't specify,” Noah added as he guided you over to the couch, taking a seat next to Jolly and pulling you down next to him.
“Spirited Away—obviously—but also I may have heard that someone's favorite animated movie is Kiki's Delivery Service.” Jolly moved to look past Noah and directly at you with a pointed but soft smile before relaxing back into his seat. “And then we'll end the night with Ponyo.”
Your cheeks heat up at his comment, feeling mushy at the fact that your boyfriend's friend was taking your preferences into consideration for something he really didn't have to.
“Also, we have snacks.” His hand gestured to the coffee table, which looked less like a piece of furniture and more just a spot a corner store threw up on.
The sight got a small giggle out of you.
“What did you guys do, buy out the 7-Eleven?” Noah said as he took in the pile of food.
“Nearly,” Michael chimed in as he entered the living room with an arm full of more candy and chips.
Everyone settled into their seats.
Michael and Orie sitting in the loveseats, Jesse and Ingrid on one couch, Jolly, Rina, Noah, and you on the other.
Your boyfriend at some point wrapped you both up in a throw blanket, keeping you tucked close to his side as the movies played. He constantly checked in, sometimes vocally, asking you by whispering a quiet ‘still good?’ in your ear, but also silently, with small glances.
The night went on, half eaten bags of snacks strewn about, Michael passed out sometime between the ending of Kiki's Delivery Service and the beginning of Ponyo, Orie and Jesse had broken out some alcohol, which caused you some mild anxiety, but things remained calm and eventually you didn't even notice.
By the time the credits of the last movie rolled, only you and Noah were awake.
“What one was your favorite?” he asked you softly.
“Duh, Kiki's Delivery Service, but Spirited Away was also pretty good, it's one of the few I haven't seen in full before.”
Noah didn't comment on your answer and simply kissed your temple. “How you feeling?”
“Really… good?”
“Yeah?”
“Yeah.” You press further into his side, tucking your head under his chin. “Tonight was fun. I think I like hanging out with your friends.”
Though you couldn't see it, Noah was grinning from ear to ear, a wave of relief washing over him at those words. “You have no idea how happy I am to hear that, angel.”

You're friends.
That's how it's always been. That's what you decided. That's what's safe.
You repeat it to yourself when he laughs too hard at your jokes. When his hand lingers on your shoulder a second too long. When he looks at you across the room with that look that makes your stomach flip.
You're friends.
But now he's standing in your doorway. Soaked. Angry. Broken. After a fight with someone. After the tour got cancelled. After everything he's been carrying for years.
"Can I come in?"
You step aside. He walks in. And the air shifts.
"Have you been drinking?" you ask.
"No." He looks at you too directly. "I'm tired. Tired of pretending."
"What?"
"That I don't want you."
Silence. Loud. Deafening. Your heart skips a beat. Another. Another.
"Noah…"
"Tell me I'm alone in this!!! Tell me I made it all up!!! Tell me, and I'll leave!!!"
You say nothing. He steps closer. Slowly. Like a predator. Like a man who can't hold back anymore.
"Don't be silent."
"I…" Your voice breaks. "You're not alone."
That's all he needs.
He kisses you. Not like a friend. Not gently. Like a man who's been waiting for years. His hands cup your face, pulling you so close that you can feel his heart pounding. Or maybe it's yours.
"I was losing my mind," he whispers against your lips. "Every time you fell asleep on my shoulder. Every time you left with someone else."
"You never said anything."
"I was scared."
"Of what?"
"Losing you."
You pull him closer. Kiss him. Desperate. Hungry. With all the tenderness and anger for years of silence. He pulls your shirt off. You tear at the buttons of his. You stumble over furniture, hit walls, but never break apart.
He picks you up and carries you to the bedroom. Throws you on the bed. Hovers over you. His hair falls in his face. His eyes are dark. Drunk with want.
"Do you know how many times I imagined this," he says, running his palm down your stomach. "How many times I dreamed about you."
"Show me."
He kisses lower. Your neck. Your collarbone. Your chest. You arch when he takes your nipple into his mouth, sucking, biting. His hand is already under the waistband of your jeans.
"So wet," he smirks. "How long?"
"Since you walked in."
"Fuck," he breathes and yanks your jeans and underwear off.
He undresses fast. You don't even get to look. You just feel him. Hot. Heavy. Ready. He settles between your legs and pushes in. Slowly. All the way. Your moan drowns in his mouth when he kisses you.
"Do you feel that?" he whispers, moving. "It's us. Finally."
"Yes…" You claw at his back. "Harder."
He obeys. His thrusts get deeper. Rougher. The bed creaks. You stop holding back, moans spill from your lips, and he catches them with kisses, whispering something you can't make out.
"I love you," he breathes into your neck. "For so long. Always."
You freeze. And then you feel everything explode. You come with his name on your lips, clenching around him, and he follows. w
With a low groan, burying his face in your shoulder.
Silence. Breathing. Two bodies tangled into one.
He lifts his head and looks at you. Tenderness. Fear. Hope in his eyes.

You've been working with Bad Omens as Matt's assistant for a good while now. Everyone in the band and the crew was so nice to you and you all were getting along pretty well...except for Noah.
He was so sweet to everyone else but you. You weren't sure why exactly you were not on good terms. It's like it started out of nowhere. Ever since you two met, you've been on each other's throats.
The day Matt introduced you to him, you hadn't slept well. Noah on the other hand was tired from working on the new album. So you were both in a bad mood to say the least, and started disagreeing and having mild arguments about almost everything that day.
Those mild arguments became a regular thing and at some point, they were not so mild anymore and the two of you just stopped talking altogether. You didn't even say hi to each other, just gave strange looks laced with what seemed to be annoyance.
You avoided him as much as you could and whenever you needed to speak to someone from the band, you spoke to anyone but Noah, because you couldn't stand him.
You couldn't stand him being a smartass. You couldn't stand the arguments you had. You couldn't stand his pretty face. You couldn't stand how hot he looked at all times, especially when he was damp in sweat, coming back from stage.
It was difficult not to stare at him but you had to keep your composure (little did you know he was stealing glances every now and then and made sure to put up an extra show whenever he caught you staring).
Tours were the most difficult part of your job, having to spend so much time around Noah was difficult to say the least.
And here you were on the tour bus, waiting for the others to load the luggage before you all took off to the first city of the short tour Bad Omens were doing.
On the couch next to you, a guy you've never met before took a seat. But before you could pay any mind to it, he started talking.
"Hey there gorgeous." Ew. "I'm Trevor, nice to meet you. I'll be Bryan's assistant for this tour."
"I'm Y/N, nice to meet you too." It definitely wasn't but you shook his hand anyway.
"Such a pretty name, for such a pretty girl." Trevor said placing his hand on your thigh. It took you just a few seconds to process his action, before you let out a nervous laugh, moving away from him, so his hand wasn't on you anymore.
"So..." He began, moving closer to you again. "What is a pretty girl like you doing here?" He put his hand back on your leg.
"Um, I'm Matt's assistant." You stated, moving away from him once again, and looked at the direction of the door hoping that any of the guys would come in. But no, it was just you and Trevor.
You didn't take your eyes off the door until you felt him shift close to you, placing his hand on your thigh...again.
"Remember not to overwork yourself, okay? If you ever need help with anything, let me know."
You moved away, just for him to do the same. His hand on you again. At this point, you were praying for anyone to show up.
"I can give you my number if you want? So you can call me if you need me?" Trevor offered, but you moved away from him shaking your head no.
"I'm good. I'm an assistant after all. Matt does most of the job." You said, quietly, hoping he'll take the hint and leave you alone. But he didn't. Or he did, just didn't care. He obviously didn't care about how you felt, because his hand found you again and a teasing smirk appeared on his face.
"Why do you keep moving? Trying to play hard to get? Am I making you nervous? No need to be nervous pretty-" He was cut off by a deep voice.
"Hey dude, I'll really appreciate it if you leave her alone." When you turned around, you saw Noah behind you. Thank fuck, he was finally doing something nice for you.
"Why? Are you her boyfriend or something?" Trevor asked with a haughty tone, to which Noah stayed quiet, his jaw tightening as he looked down at you, seeing how uncomfortable you looked. "So why don't you leave us alone? She's clearly enjoying herself." Trevor continued with confidence.
"I actually am her boyfriend." HE'S WHAT NOW!? "So if you could keep your hands away from my girlfriend, it would be nice."
Trevor's eyes widened in horror as he backed up away from you, throwing his hands in the air in defeat, as Noah took your hand in his and helped you get up from the couch, leading you toward the door.
"Oh, shit! Sorry dude, I didn't know." Trevor mumbled. He clearly wasn't sorry but the important thing is that he left you alone...for now at least.
"What the fuck are you doing?" You asked Noah once you were outside.
"I'm helping you, what does it look like?" He answered.
"Helping me by pretending to be my boyfriend?"
"What else was I supposed to do? This dude had his hands all over you, even after you asked him to stop. He didn't listen when I told him to get his hands off of you, so..." He trailed off.
"So you said you're my boyfriend!? This guy is Bryan's assistant...he'll be with us the whole tour. Do you realize what that means?"
"Oh, fuck." Noah cursed under his breath, taking his face in his hands as the realization set in.
"Yeah, fuck. And we also have to tell everyone in the crew about it so good luck with that."
Thankfully you had a group chat that Trevor wasn't a part of so Noah just sent a message there explaining everything. The reactions were expected. Everyone was having fun with it.
Too much fun with it.
Not only did you have to put up with everyone's jokes and teasing, but you and Noah also had to pretend to be a happy couple. Sitting next to each other, his arm always around you. Holding hands. Hugging. Joking around.
It was painful for the two of you and painfully funny for everyone else. But at least Trevor seemed to buy it and since you and Noah were attached at the hip, he had no time to try and make another move on you.
And it got even worse one night, after a show, when Matt pulled you to the side as everyone else was loading the luggage onto the tour bus.
"Okay, so I have good and bad news. The bad news is that one of the bunks broke and you'll have to share with Noah since the two of you are 'together'." He did the air quotes gesture when he said 'together'. "But good news is...we're going to Taco Bell!" He said that last part as if it would make the whole situation better.
"The fuck do you mean the bunk broke? How do you break a bunk?"
"Don't ask me questions you don't want to know the answer of." Matt replied shrugging as if you were supposed to know the answer already.
"And why do I have to share with Noah? Can't you and Folio share or something."
"Nope." Matt smiled sweetly and turned his back to you, making his way towards Noah.
You just stood there looking at them and judging by Noah's reaction Matt had told him about the bunk. And Noah wasn't happy about it either.
You couldn't really do much about it so you just went to help the others with the luggage.
Once everything was done you went inside the tour bus alongside Folio and Noah, the three of you sitting on the couch and chatting, as the others waited outside for Trevor. He was the only one missing. He should've been here more than half an hour ago but was nowhere to be found.
Noah and Folio were actually chatting about the broken bunk. Turns out Folio and Matt came up with some stupid challenge while they were bored, resulting in a broken bunk, but you couldn't care less, it was already done, it didn't matter who did it or how it happened.
You were sprawled out on the couch, barely listening to the conversation Noah and Folio were having. Your body felt heavy with exhaustion, your eyelids hooded. Just as you had relaxed the door opened with a loud bang.
"Sorry dudes, got a bit carried away!" Trevor yelled emerging from the door. His sudden entrance making the three of you jump, your body stiff now and all the relaxation was gone.
The couch dipped next to you as Trevor sat down, way too close to you for your liking.
It didn't take long before everyone came inside as well and Matt made an announcement.
"Okay, we're going to Taco Bell. Who's coming?" A chorus of 'yes' and 'sure' followed.
"I think I'll skip that and go straight to bed, because I'm exhausted." You said.
"Yeah me too," Trevor quickly said. "I'll stay here, keep Y/N company." He winked as he said that last part, putting his hand on your thigh, but you were quick to move away from him and closer to Noah.
"Yeah, I'm pretty busted from the show, so I'll stay here as well, but if you can bring tacos for Y/N and me, it will be great." Noah smiled at Matt, clearly satisfied that he ruined Trevor's plans to have some alone time with you.
Everyone made their way out, leaving you, Noah, and Trevor behind.
"So..." Trevor began, turning to look at you, but before he could continue, Noah was quick to interrupt him.
"You said you were tired, baby?" Noah questioned while looking at you. "Come here." He said with a soft tone and took hold of your hand, gently pulling you towards him.
You moved slightly towards him and next thing you know, he was holding you by the waist, lifting you slightly so now you were straddling his lap. He then pulled you even closer so you could snuggle your face into his hair, your hands around his neck.
"He's looking." Noah whispered in your ear and you could tell he was smiling.
What you couldn't see, was that the reason for Noah's smirk was the expression on Trevor's face, showing something between anger and annoyance
"Good." You whispered back when you felt his hands slide from your waist to your ass, to your hips next, pulling you even closer if that was even possible, making you grind against him slightly.
Trevor's face became even more expressive, now a bit red as it filled with anger and jealousy, almost making Noah laugh.
"Do you wanna go to bed, angel?" Noah asked pulling away just enough to be able to look at your eyes.
"Yeah..." You said, slowly nodding your head yes. He placed a kiss on your nose. Well...that was new.
"Okay." Was all he said and stood up with you in his arms, making you feel butterflies in your stomach as you wrapped your legs around him. The stupid butterflies. He didn't say anything else just walked to the bunk you were going to share and let go of you.
You climbed to the bunk and just as you were getting comfortable you felt Noah lying behind you, his chest pressed to your back. You both wanted to put some distance between the two of you but it was impossible considering how small the bunk was.
You closed your eyes, trying to fall asleep as quickly as possible, so this torture could end sooner.
"Can you fucking stop!?" Noah whisper yelled at you, just as you were about to fall asleep.
"What are you talking about?" You asked confused.
"Your hips. Stop moving." His words made you realize that you were rocking your hips against him. That's when you also realized that he was hard.
You rolled your hips against him once again, this time on purpose, making him let out a breath that he seemed to have held for a while. You rolled your hips again. And again. And that's when you felt his hands finding your hips.
You thought he'd hold you still but instead he pulled you impossibly close to him, helping you roll your hips better. This made you throw your head back and as soon as you did that his lips started placing kisses starting from your neck traveling down as close to your collarbones as he could reach.
His hands on your hips, his lips on you, the way he felt against you...it all felt a bit too overwhelming and you couldn't hold back the soft moan escaping your lips.
"Fuck..." Noah mumbled against your neck. "You have no idea what you're doing to me."
"Show me then." You said in a quiet, yet teasing tone. The second the words came out of your lips, one of his hands travelled down to your clothed core, lightly pressing his fingers there, and started to slowly move his fingers as you were still rolling your hips against him.
"Please." You whimpered.
"What is it angel? You want my fingers?"
"Yes. Please." You were desperate by this point.
He moved his hands, hooking his fingers to the waistband of your shorts.
"Can I take these off?" He asked. You hummed nodding as an answer. Noah pulled down your shorts just above your knees.
"Okay, let's see." He murmured, fingers touching to your now-soaked panties. "All of that...just for me?" You nodded your head yes. "Wanna take them off as well?"
"Please." You whispered, so he dragged them down to where your shorts were.
He pressed the pads of his fingers to your clit circling it a few times, before moving lower. Before you could even process what he was doing one of his fingers entered you, making you let out a moan that turned out to be louder than intended.
He pressed a soft kiss to your temple and began, moving his finger in and out of you, curling it, hitting the right spot. He did that for a while and just as you thought it couldn't get any better, he added a second finger, making your hips move involuntarily.
"Just like that baby, grind against my hand." And you did as he said while his fingers continued to slowly move inside you. "Fuck, you're already squeezing my fingers. Are you close baby?"
You tried to say yes, but all you managed to do was let out something between an incoherent sound and a moan, grinding harder against his hand, making him groan and the slow movements of his fingers became much quicker.
"I need words." He said softly, placing a kiss behind your ear.
"Yes." You mumbled and the desperation in your voice was more than obvious. When Noah heard your answer, he sped up the pace of his fingers a little more, giving you exactly what you needed. You couldn't hold back a moan of his name.
"C'mon. Let go for me." He whispered. Then you felt his other hand sneak down between the two of you as he pressed his fingers to your clit applying just the right amount of pressure. And that's all you needed. You felt your stomach tightening, your legs trembling slightly, your breathing quickening and you finally let go, squeezing his fingers.
"Good job baby. You did so well." He praised, pressing his lips to your cheek, lingering there a little longer. His fingers didn't stop moving working you through it. When you calmed down he moved his hands away.
"You wanna go further?" He asked while sucking on his fingers to clean them up. "Fuck, you taste so good." He groaned.
"Please, Noah. I need it." You moaned.
"What do you need angel?" He asked, his tone teasing.
"You. I need you."
"Alright. Are you 100% sure?" He asked before starting to kiss your neck.
"Yes. Just...please, do something." You begged. And he didn't wait for you to ask him again, pulling his shorts and boxers down to his knees.
He stroked himself a few times, moving one of your legs slightly up, before slowly guiding himself into you. Your breath hitched as you felt the tip pressing against your entrance.
He started easing himself slowly, kissing wherever his mouth could reach, until he was fully inside. He didn't move right away though. As much as he wanted to. Instead, he stayed as still as possible letting you adjust to his size.
"Fuck, you're so tight." He groaned, his hot breath hitting the back of your neck, one of his hands on your hip, moving in slow suiting circles.
"Please kiss me." He whispered in your ear making you turn your head around as much as possible leaning into him. He moved closer to you, one of his hands cupping your jaw as your lips moved in a kiss showing something different than the hate you were both used to seeing from each other.
"Noah-" You whined once you let go of the kiss. "Please move." He pressed a kiss to your shoulder, but didn't waste any time and started to roll his hips, thrusting into you slowly at first.
The angle, the way he felt inside you, his body against your back. It made you feel like you were floating and you couldn't hold back a loud moan.
"That's it, baby. Be as loud as you want. Let that asshole Trevor hear you." Noah's pace quickened and you could feel him right against your cervix. "C'mon pretty girl, let him hear how good I make you feel."
Noah's words made you not want to hold back and you didn't. Each sound you made, made him let out a groan. His pace quickened until he was literally pounding into you, hitting all the right spots.
"Noah...you feel perfect." Those words came out louder than intended and you were sure Trevor heard you, but you couldn't care less. By this point your head was empty, the only thing left being the feeling of Noah. He made you feel in ways you've never felt before.
Your hands were clutching the pillow that was under your head, back arching and you felt that little knot inside your stomach, telling you you were close again.
"You're almost there baby. I can feel you tightening around me." Noah said, sounding out of breath. "Go on and cum for me, I'm right behind you." One of his hands snuck between your bodies, pressing to your clit once again.
"You feel so good. So perfect, like you were made for me." He whispered in while circling your clit but stopped just as you were about to let go.
"Do you feel me against your cervix, baby?" He asked and his hand which was just between the two of you, moved to your lower abdomen applying slight pressure. His action making you feel a whole new sensation.
And all of a sudden you were hyper aware of him inside you. Every ridge, every vein, the way he was twitching inside you, everything feeling much more intense and the knot inside you returned.
"Noah-" You moaned his name, as you came around him.
"Good girl." Noah praised. Your whole body was shaking, your hand gripping the pillow tighter now and your eyes squeezed shut as the pleasure filled your whole body. His hips didn't stop moving until he came inside you with a loud groan of your name.
"You did so well for me, baby. Good job." Noah said in a much softer tone now.
You both got up as if nothing had happened and went to clean yourselves up a bit before returning to your shared bunk. That night you both slept better than ever before, curled up into each other.
