I think what endears me to Hyde and Hilda most of all is that they’re about as generic as you can get when it comes to a hero and a villain as far as roles go but those cliches are offset by having them actually act like people a good portion of the time. Hyde’s not just some badass cocky anti-hero. he can be cocky and confrontational with people but usually he’s pretty down to earth. sweet. clutzy. surprisingly modest. a little dumb but comes off as a genuinely warm dude even though he looks like a thug and he swears like a sailor. on the flipside, Hilda’s not an entirely evil person, she has her moments of cruelty but it never feels like hurting and killing is her first response to a situation. she’s always offering to let people join her. enjoys spoiling herself. has friends she cares about. does weird shit like bringing toy trainsets to gordeaus bar to play with.  likes to act like a bigshot but is clearly in over her head about some things. it honestly pretty refreshing.
