Soccer!!! The scene from Grant Park in Chicago on Saturday afternoon where U.S. soccer fans gathered in droves to watch the USA vs Portugal match. We showed up a little too late, so we weren't to get into the main area that was gated and closed off because there were too many fans trying to get in. We ended up going to a nearby Hilton Hotel to watch the game, and over the course of the afternoon, people crowded around the corner we were in to catch the game and ooh and ahh and then groan in despair at the last second goal. All said and done, it was an awesome experience. According to ratings it was the most watched soccer game in US history. Crazy to think that US soccer has come this far. I remember sitting in my great uncle's house 20 years ago watching the 1994 World Cup for the first time and dreaming of one day playing in the World Cup. That dream didn't quite work out but nevertheless it was a cool and nostalgic moment to be a part of seeing all the people out in the park to watch a soccer game of all things. :) (at Grant Park - Buckingham Fountain)
