almost died today
it’s heartbreaking as someone who’s never been in a relationship have friendships fizzle simply bc the other person found a partner…i see it often…i’ve experienced it also…honestly i’d say the heartbreak of it is worse than probably a romantic relationship ending…
knowing so much about someone, telling them everything about you…knowing them so intimately but knowing you’ll be quickly brushed aside for the person they decide to share a bed with…it is…devastating to say the least.
in the past few years i’ve realized many things about myself, i am on the ace spectrum, i prefer the company of women, and i do not understand the hierarchy of relationships…
the way the things a friend and i shared interest in soon fizzled because…why would they want to talk about that when they have a partner? and it’s worse when it happens right after the biggest loss of my life…the loss of my own dad. i have a desire to be loved…but the thought of that love simply being seen as more important because we have sex disgusts me. i have so much love to give…and yet we live in a society that will deem the relationships you have as lesser because it isn’t sexual or romantic enough.
am i not enough…as i am? do i have to give my body to someone to be seen as whole? as more mature? why is my personhood reliant on that? why is adulthood so alienating…and why so often do people settle for someone they don’t like…just so they can say they’re in a relationship? am i too different…some weirdo grief stricken 28 year old virgin….with no interest in finding a relationship…
