A caroller tried to hit on me today.
It was pretty awkward, to be honest.
I think one of the guys with her was like her brother or something because he gave me a dirty look.Â

“French and Irish? Now there’s a combination I’ve never heard of before,” Xander muttered, taking another sip of his drink to polish the glass. He slipped it across the oak, varnish stained bar surface and signaled for another with the wave of his hand. “I suppose we will,” he agreed, taking his fresh drink and raising it to clink it half-heartedly against Caroline’s. Without hesitation, Xander’s eyes snapped open at the further mention of Dublin; he loved that City undoubtedly, unconditionally — he thought of it as home. Still, what Xander said and what he thought were often two entirely diverse statements. “It was fine, nothing different from London… The people were friendlier, I suppose. When did you move here?”Â
"French mother, Irish father," Caroline explained. She didn't know which side she identified with more; she hadn't spoken to her mother in ages and had never gotten along with her father. Clinking her glass with Xander's, she smiled and sipped her new martini. Listening to him speak, she remembered that she had initially wanted to go to UCD, but just wanted to get away from her father and the bad memories of Ireland. "When I was eighteen, UOL offered me a partial scholarship," she explained. The other half was covered by student loans. "So, two years now," she smiled.

Xander exhaled, a smirk twisted onto his lips as he raised the crystal glass to his lips and once again took a mouthful of whiskey down with ease. He crooned his head to the side, offering her a court grin as he raised hand in response, “Irish! I thought your accent was rather.. Different?” He exclaimed, the thought of Molly - his previous Irish girlfriend - forcing its way into his mind and dampening his spirits.
"Yeah, well, dual citizenship. French and Irish," Caroline explained to him as she sipped her martini. "Another one, please," she asked the bartender as she finished. "I guess we'll see where the night takes us," she said as she waited for her second drink. "How did you like Dublin? I actually loved it, a lot more than Cork." Cork was too industrialized and bland for her liking, she liked the culture of the capital.

A playful smile graced the male’s lips, causing a faint hue to spark in the colour of his eyes as he shamelessly took in her appearance. “I have to agree with you there,” he uttered, running his tongue over his lips to wet them as he continued to speak, “London, yes, though I did live in Dublin for a few years. How about yourself?”
Caroline felt herself blush slightly as she felt Xander assessing her appearance. She wasn't anything special, just another green-eyed blonde, unsure of her purpose in life. "I'm originally from Marseilles, but I lived in Cork for about six years. I just came here to study," she told him.

Xander nodded, expressing his approval with a quick, firm smile, “Wise choice.” He ran his tongue over the front of his pearly white teeth, a quick shrug graced the length of his shoulders as he turned his full attention to the blonde sat beside him. “There’s only so much time you can spend in the confines of your apartment before you get bored,” Xander muttered, though he knew the real reason was to escape to normality, if only for few brief hours. “It’s nice to find new company, too.” Â
Caroline sipped her martini. "The drinks here are actually quite good," she commented. Nodding in agreement, she let out a sigh of relief. "You can only study so much," she told him. Although it was finals time, even she needed a break. "I like spending time with new company as well," she smiled. "Are you from London originally?"
Nothing like a cup of coffee to make the day a little better
Why so? I can’t last two days without coffee! Probably because I’m always tired anyway, so with your logic I guess it makes sense.
I'm more of a tea person, I don't know why. I'm almost always never tired, except when I have to pull an all-nighter.
