Finally getting on my replies!
the-bloodbarbie:
âAnd here I thought the neurotic control freak died in human Caroline, at least, thatâs what Iâd been told. Elena is going through a change, just as you did. Itâs just the other her, isnât like you. She hasnât gotten a grasp on being a vampire because the entire time everyoneâs been gunning for the cure. Nobody thought that sheâd be this way forever, so nobody was able to accept it, including herself. She lost her brother, Caroline. When sheâs ready for it, sheâll flip the switch again. Itâs something that most of us go through, some of us for centuries at a time.â
âIf itâs any consolation, I cannot seem it lasting that long with her.â
Brother. Now, that word stirred something in Rebekah the moment it passed her lips, but she refused to let the emotions that came with it surface. Kol. No, she wouldnât. Not here, not now. Not in front of this little twit. She couldnât. It was enough to see him in her dreams, to wake from nightmares, she didnât need to let her emotions to slip before Elenaâs closest friend and as such, her own enemy.Â
âThere is not a fiber within you that is fine right now. Even if you didnât make that so bloody evident, Iâm not as unobservant as your little clique, nor is my attention so invested in Elena that I wouldnât notice when the person before my eyes is on the verge of her own breakdown. On top of it all, I know when Iâm being lied to, Caroline.â
âDied in human Caroline?â She couldnât help but scoff at that statement, wild blue eyes rolling in succession as her arms crossed incredulously over her torso. âNope. Neurotic Caroline was intensified, which is yâknow, all fun and games for me and everyone else that gets stuck with me justâfreaking out over everything.â Carolineâs eyes darted back towards Rebekah as she spoke, an expression of confusion overwhelming her features as she did so; since when had Rebekah been so well versed on matters of, well, humanity and Elena, for that matter. âNo, I get it, I get why she did it butâhave you seen her? Sheâs like Katherine but eight thousand times more grouchy. I just wish I could do something to help her, but noâCaroline canât even make a freakinâ casserole without getting the occasion wrong.â
Caroline stood quiet for a long moment, contemplating her further honesty when it came to the blonde before her, the very personification of the word bitchâat least, that was what she had thought? Okay, so Rebekah wasnât being overly compassionate, but it was a hell of a lot more than what her friends were attempting to do right now and Caroline couldnât deny the way she yearned for this pent up outcry.
âSo youâre asking me to open up to you? Right, fine! You know what? I will. Firstly, Iâm sad, in factâIâm pissed. Iâm sad and pissed because your brother not only nearly killed me, but ran my boyfriend out of town like heâs some kind of Katherine Pierce 2.0 and now I miss him. I miss him because all he tried to do was the right thing, yet Mr. Opinionated had to have his own way again and justâI donât even know why I bother getting angry about him, because it doesnât help. Then, what else? My friends are all Elena consumed again, which is totally fine, I get it, but I donât like the thought that youâre the first person to even consider to ask me what was going on becauseâwell, you hate meâI donât know. Iâll shut up, but Iâm just..âyeah.âÂ

Where was she at the time where great entertainment was cherished back in the days? She would have proven to be a brilliant jester. Dismissing his pleasing thought and averting his attention back to her fragile state, he simply nodded, refraining from any other gestures to not cause any miserprentations between the two. Klaus could only but tease her mimicry because her delicate and feisty attitude only made him smirk. He raised from his seat swiftly after she agreed to stay for a drink; pouring her a glass of bourbon and refilling his own. With just a few seconds his sinister, vindictive and maleficient nature vanished. He seemed normal and harmless, more or less. âHere,â Klaus handed her the drink, resuming to his seat near her. âI suppose you could call it thatâŚâ A genuine, heartfelt smile graced the outlines of his lips, possessing some unknown charm. Her presence made him falter and rethink his actions, but not sticking to them so much as he wished to do. A quick swipe of his drink, he brushed the corners of his lips with his thumb, disposing of any excess liquid. âTruth be told, I would feel more pleasant if we were to rid of Silas. Who is he? No one has seen the abomination so he could easily take form of a friend, when really his role is portrayed as a foe. This ridiculous motif to bring everyone back from the dead will only cause havoc among the world. It will be consumed in anger and war. Do you wish to risk every human being for the life of the supernatural? I am willing to help rid of Silas. That is all.â The tone of his voice took a sullen route. He knew the dangers that could occur now if they raised the dead, and he himself, would not allow for such magic to take place. Despite his cruel manoeuvres, he needed to maintain his role as the most powerful upon earth. âPersonally - I do not wish to have to massacre all of the resurrected supernaturals. It could get messy, Carolineâ,â
âNow, I do not know about you, Caroline, but Iâd rather not recite the menace that is my father; letâs not forget my mother too. Theyâve proved to be troublesome whilst alive, so I donât particularly fancy taking the same route again.â A moment of honesty? A sudden melancholic expression took over his visage as he looked away from Caroline; he was in a trance of desolating emotions. He shook his head to rid of the thought, and occupied it with other meaningless insights over the current setting of the Silas ploy.
The internal morality debate currently progressing within Carolineâs mind was one that had best not be interrupted, though she would have preferred there was no such difficulty at all. On one side of the affair, she was sat here drinking bourbon (of all the freakinâ drinks) and well, she honestly, she didnât mind his conceited retorts or the occasional flash of malice she caught in the hues of his eyes, but then there was the pull of her principlesâthe devil, so to speak. Klaus was the reincarnation, at least she had convinced herself so, of Lucifer. Mass murder? Check. Manipulation? Check. Sympathy for the Devil? Check.
The flaxen female exhaled a restless sigh, thanking the original as her scrawny fingers clasped around the glass which she raised to her glossed lips with haste, devouring more than what would have been considered reasonable â liquid confidence was real and very much needed, okay?! âWowââcause he doesnât sound like someone I know,â she sneered as she flashed him a haughty glance. She, herself, had seen multiple layers of the male currently sat beside her with thoseâgod forbid she admit itâendearing dimples carved into the plump flesh of his cheeks; none of these layers were respectively similar at all. He took on the face of a friend, yet she should consider him her foe. âYeah, vampire disposal has never been my forte, but Iâm sure youâveâwait! I know for a fact that youâre vampire disposal extraordinaire,â and did he just say âit could get messyâ? âWhatâre you going to do, complain about your dry cleaning? Seriously? I justâwhatever. I donât want him creeping about this already creepy down, raising Hell andâyou know!â Outwardly scolding herself she passed a huff: why could she never articulate what she wanted to say without the word vomit that seemed to follow?
His confession on the matter of his parents, however, induced the subtlest pang of consideration in the girl; her childish frown quickly lined into an expression of unease, though not consciously. âRight, your parents,â she stated cleanly, exhaling a long sigh before reaching forwards, quickly draining the remaining bourbon from her glass and wincing. ââWhy..âwhy did your father want you dead? Is it the whole hybrid thing, or--?â She exhaled, cautiously enough, not that she expected the Hybrid himself to open up to herâbut it was worth a shot, right?Â
In other news: I can't proof read apparently. LMAO.Â

What had gotten her in to this mess? Caused her to feel weak and unstable? He wanted to fix her, he was good at fixing people and heâd been doing it for quite some time. He could remember the numerous times heâd fixed both his siblings. Everyone went to him when they needed help and didnât know what to do. Alex Gilbert was a hero and a friend. Caroline seemed to be holding on to him with dear life, not too hard though. He held her back, showing her how much he needed her through the hug. He watched as she pulled back slightly and looked to him, he stared back at her, tears filling his eyes. âNo, no itâs okay. Youâre not being selfish, youâre being- human. Itâs okay to be broken, everyoneâs broken from time to time, people just have different ways of showing it. But youâll always be the same person, unless you shut it off.â
Caroline had always been Miss Fix-it for her friends, just as Alex had been for his siblings; to have him comforting her was an untried feeling, yet something inadvertently welcomed. She drew back, clouded eyes barely making out the tears that rimmed his own, knowing that he was hurting too she tried to be strong. She tried, at least, but her attempts were usually neurotic and shambolic, leaving her restless and unearthed for extended periods of times. âI canâtâI canât be like this! I have my mom to look out for andâand Elena, she needs my help now, and you. You need me, right?â She could almost hit herself for sounding so pathetic, yet for some unknown reason, she trusted Alex more than anyone with her sporadic and untamed emotions.

[M!A] PAIN AND SUFFERING
hunter-alex-gilbert:
Caroline needed him, it was clear from how much she was holding on to him, she seemed to be holding on to his every word. Clinging to everything he could give. She was miserable, broken and lost; she was everything he was and more. He had no idea why she was like this, who had done this to her. This wasnât the Caroline he knew, she was brave and heroic and put everyone else before herself. Although, sometimes, he wished sheâd put herself before people. Not everyone could be selfless, not all the time. Alex stood still when she buried her face in to his neck, cuddled close to him. Soon, he relaxed in her arms and held her back, burying his face in her soft, locks of blonde hair. âSometimes, I wish I did have that switch. But turning emotions off never got anyone anywhere. It destroys who you truly are.â
Everything he was saying made perfect sense, yet nothing was being digested, nothing was calming her erratic nerves or the insistent pain in her chest. She held onto him as tightly, though not as tightly as she would have liked for fear of literally crushing his spine in the process and eventually let out a choked breath, her hands brushing over his shoulders as she lowered to her feet, pulling back a few inches from the embrace. âBut what if youâre broken? What if youâre not who you truly are anymore? What if everythingâs ruined andâI donât know. I donât know why Iâm feeling like this; I donât know what happened. I'm sorry, I'm being selfish.âÂ
[M!A] PAIN AND SUFFERING
hunter-alex-gilbert:
Alex could tell something was wrong, sheâd been fine earlier and the only one that stood strong and tall. Now she was falling to pieces, much like Elena, except she was doing so in a way that didnât require burning down buildings and showing no emotion whatsoever. It was almost like Caroline had taken on Elenaâs emotions on top of her own. âIâm not wrong, Iâm right. I swear it to you,â he stared in to her eyes and shook her a few times, trying to pull her back down from wherever she was in her mind. âI know it does, it hurts for me too. It hurts so much that I canât even cry about it anymore, I canât do anything. It hurts and I canât get it to go away, but youâre stronger than me, youâve always been stronger. So control it.â
The inexorable pull of damage inside of her was tearing her apart; her mind nothing more than a mystified blur, clinging onto comfort by the sleeves of the man before her. His words were comforting, yet the pang of guilt that washed over her when he spoke of his own pain was unbearable. Helpless to her actions she pulled him in closer, clinging onto the fabric of his shirt as she buried her sodden features into the crook of his neck. ââYour house, Elena, Oh my God.â She shook her head , her eyes clenched tightly together as she held strong to her self-loathing belief that she was somewhat worthless and, at this moment in time, there was nothing that would convince her otherwise. âYouâre the strongest person I know and you donât even have switch to turn off.âÂ
[M!A] PAIN AND SUFFERING
hunter-alex-gilbert:
âYou donât kill, not anymore. Remember? You donât kill because you know itâs wrong and youâve learnt to control this,â he moved towards her slowly and grabbed her arms gently, stopping her from losing control completely. âYou donât hurt people because youâre good. Youâre the only thing that brings happiness to this God forsaken town. You. Itâs you, Caroline. Youâve saved me,â he sighed, moving a strand of blonde hair from her features.
Caroline shook her head along with his expression, finding the vaguest sense of comfort as his arms latched her firmly in place, stopping her from dwindling near broken. âNo! Youâre wrong, youâre wrong,â Caroline choked out, barely audible beneath the sobs that kept on coming. Why would she feel so much pain if she was somebody elseâs means of reassurance? Her lips pressed together, sodden eyes meeting with his as he spoke. âIt hurts..âeverything hurts.â
[M!A] PAIN AND SUFFERING
hunter-alex-gilbert:
âCaroline, please, donât talk like that. You know none of that is true. Youâre not a monster, youâre a hero. Because you werenât supposed to die. You just werenât.â
âNo! No, Iâm not..âmy dad was right. It controls me, Iâm a monster, I kilâoh my God. Even my mom, she said that her daughter was gone, and she was right! She was right. And now Iâm living here and everyone keeps on suffering; whatâs the point of having all this stupid power if all I can do is hurt people? I donât save people, I donât save lives..â
