Tanner laughed and nodded, “Yeah, you’re right. Maybe we’ll manage even better,” He replied, playing it off as a joke. He glanced over the menu, “I think I’m gonna get the carbonara. Always has been my favourite. Oh, they have strawberry cheesecake as dessert of the day. Their slices are usually massive but it’s delicious, maybe we could share one,” He glanced up at her and smiled apologetically, putting down the menu to sigh, “Look at me. Talking about dessert already. I always wanted to eat it first when I was a kid,” He laughed.

Aurelie laughed at the others ramble about desserts. She shook her head slightly at him. “Who says we can’t eat it first?” she signed. “I’m not opposed to that.”

“You might be interested but that doesn’t mean I need to tell you every little detail,” Lola replied, laughing a little, “I mean I know you agreed to come with me but normally I just have all these thoughts in my head and no one to tell them too so I guess I’m a little excited to share,” She paused and smiled, “You’re definitely sure I’m not gonna bore you to death talking about colour fields and abstract expressionism?”

“If I’m being honest with you, Lola, I’ve read the dictionary before. This is much more interesting than the dictionary,” he replied with a slight laugh. “That also sounded really lame, sorry. I mostly read it because I wanted to beat Emma in something. I won, in which she was so mad about it.” He chuckled at the memory. “I like hearing details, I promise.”

Tristan’s face immediately brightened and he could feel the relief wash over him immediately, “You do?” He asked, “You really do? You’re not just saying that? Because my two minutes were mostly gonna be me saying that I do love you and I’m not gonna take it back but also that there’s no pressure to say it back yet if you’re not feeling it so you don’t have to say it unless you’re sure,” He didn’t know why he was saying that. If she said it, she probably meant it but for some reason he couldn’t quite believe it. Or maybe it was that he couldn’t quite believe he was lucky enough to have someone like her love him back.

“I just, I wanted the first time I said I Love You to you, to be special,” she told him. “I didn’t want it to be a response to yours, or something. I really wanted it to mean something. Plus, you caught me a little off guard, not going to lie.”

Bonfires were always a staple event in the year at Camp Halfblood, events where Maisie was usually working in the hospital wing to help out the numerous drunk campmates when something inevitably happened. The girl didn’t mind though, the tent was quiet and peaceful and she didn’t have to interact with many people– a perfect night. Except this time, her brother Blue convinced her to go to the party. A few minutes there was plenty enough for the blonde, so she decided to take a long walk in the woods back to her cabin. On her travels she spotted the boy that she only met a couple of weeks ago in practically the exact same spot, so she walked up to him, looking over his shoulder at the book he was reading when she felt him physically jump. “Oh I’m so sorry!” She quickly apologised. “I didn’t mean to, I just wanted to see what book you were reading so I could ask you about it.”

“Oh,” James said, looking down at his book, he had forgotten that he was in the middle of one for a minute, his mind focused on watching the pegasi. “Uh, it’s called, The Story of Edgar Sawtelle.”

“Well I know that,” April replied, laughing with him, “But I’ve gotten so many bouquets now that you must have seen them at some point,” She gestured to the other bouquet that sat on top of a cupboard in her living room. Her not-so-big apartment was very open plan so it was easy to see much and the bouquet she was pointing to was one flower from each bouquet she had received that she was keeping alive. She was so sentimental that if she could, she would have kept all the bouquets but she didn’t have the space, “I’ve got some wine?” She suggested, wriggling her eyebrows in a teasing manner, “Or beer. We  did finish a lot of orders today, we deserve it.”

Jordi shrugged at her suspicions. “Maybe they’ve been getting the bouquets at different places,” he said. “A beer works for me.”

“Absolutely not,” Sage replied, “We love having guests on our picnics, don’t we Jay-Jas!” She corrected quickly. It was her stepfather who called her daughter Jay and she had tried not to pick it up because of Jasmine’s father but sometimes she couldn’t help it. She knew she couldn’t use the nickname around him though. Too risky, “I mean, yes they’re a tradition but sacred is a bit of a push. Things are always more fun with friends, right?” She didn’t always know where she stood with her ex-husband but she hoped friends was on the table, “Let’s eat, shall we?”

Jay turned when he heard his name, but realized when it was Sage who was calling Jasmine, he heard the S and didn’t think too much of it. Jay nodded at her question. “Sure,” he held his palms out, letting them take their’s first. “Ladies first.”

“Okay,” Penelope nodded again, starting to panic a little less, “Okay, yeah, this’ll be fine. Your photos always look great and we can choose them together and I can make some phone calls, do some editing, and then we can do lunch and we can hang out and it’ll be fun,” She paused and sighed but smiled at him a little wider, “Snow days are meant to be fun, right?”

Christian shrugged in response. “I guess so,” he answered. “I haven’t really had snow days growing up. I grew up in fairly warm places, one mainly being Orlando, Florida. So I’m just as clueless.”

“Right?” Charlotte spoke, copying the look of shock, “That’s exactly what I was thinking, until I had to teach a group of twelve year olds.” She replied with a laugh; Charlotte missed being able to laugh with Christian and she was eternially grateful that they could still laugh together even if it wasn’t exactly how it was before. “And ruin my reputation as the cool trainer? I don’t know…” She joked, Charlotte would more than likely take his advice. “Really? On purpose?” 

“What? No, Gods no, definitely not on purpose.” Christian then paused to think about it. “At least I hope not.”

“Please,” Alexandria answered, she wasn’t meaning to sound desperate in her response but the absolute last thing Alex wanted to do was ask yet another person for help. “Really? Which one? They all seem to hate me,” She responded, there was absolutely a reason for that but for some reason Alex wasn’t trying to scare the other off with her negative attitude. 

“On the computer over there. I think he has a crush on me,” she said. “I don’t have the heart to tell him I’m really really gay.”

Samantha had been working on making a good lasting impression upon her boss, her eyes set on an upcoming promotion. Although multiple people were invited to dinner, in Sam’s eyes it felt like a good sign and she was hoping to keep it that way as she made sure to arrive just on time. “I brought over some wine, does everyone like-” Samantha started to say before a younger girl appeared in front of her, “Oh, don’t worry about it, it’s-” Her words were stopped once again as she started to recognise her. Samantha cleared her throat, not wanting to draw attention to it or how they knew each other. “It’s nice to meet you, Elle.” She answered, “I’m Samantha. You- uh, work with your dad?” 

“Oh God no,” Elle answered. “I’m just here for moral support. I’m taking a gap semester to take the LSATs.”

Events like these got boring for Hayden quite quickly; within mere moments, Hayden had already blocked out most of the conversations happening around him and had been constantly checking his watch waiting for the most acceptable time to leave. Hayden turned as he heard his name being called, but he wasn’t ecstatic at the person he found. “Ah- you’re still here?” Hayden asked, “Again? That’s their third debate tonight. Who’s winning?” 

“You know Mom, she stays till the last minute, and plus she’s my ride,” June answered. “Definitely Mendes, Jacobs’ views are so outdated and Mendes looks like he’s ready to cage fight Jacobs.”

Everyone knew the fact but it wasn’t a habit that Matilda was too concerned about trying to change; her watches were  just for show. “Sorry, babes.” Matilda spoke as she slid into the chair across from Kit. “My outfit was just not working out this morning,” She answered, as if that was a valid excuse to be late. “I’m starving; have you ordered any appetizers?”

Kit nodded. “Yeah, I ordered us some stuffed mushrooms. They’re supposed to be amazing here.” Kit closed her menu, knowing she had already decided what she wanted. “How many times did you change this time?”

River rolled his eyes. “You’re just mad that I won. WHat kind of response is ‘that’s a 3rd grader argument’ anyway?”

River closed his binder when the bell rang to signal the end of class. River looked at the other, eyebrows raised. “I totally won that debate,” he teased his opponent with a smirk. He liked to get under her skin. He knew that it ticked her off.
