Drawings of the lovely Alana from life drawing on Saturday. I started with a large mop brush to block in basic shapes. Then used the Sailor Fude with the water soluble Red-Brown ink for linear details. The first one was about 10/15 minutes and the others about 20 minutes each. I admit I find the one minute sketches really uncomfortable, they certainly don’t loosen me up but make me tense. I tried a new technique today. I drew an outline sketch with a 6B pencil then used a new brush (for me) bonobo chalk, blocking in an underpainting of basic flesh colours. I added a layer of antique paper to add texture and interest. I continued by finding the darkest values and the highlights.
