The Other Problem with Carzekiel
Even if you take the fact that Carol belongs with Daryl out of the equation, there is still something fundamentally wrong with her relationship with Ezekiel.
On the latest episode of Talking Dead, KPβs response about the proposal was:
βEzekiel was hoping for a yes, but the response he got was classic Carolβ
βSheβs never gonna make it easyβ
βThis is what makes life funβ
βYou donβt climb a mountain because itβs easyβ¦thereβs great payoff when you finally get to the top and look over at the vistaβ
βHeβs enjoying climbing that mountainβ
Are you fucking serious? Carol is just a mountain to climb? Itβs fun? Sheβs not making it easy?
Itβs 2018. We all know about the #metoo movement. By now, we should all know how to treat women. So why is The Walking Dead, who took an abused housewife and transformed her into a strong, fearless survivor, now forcing her into a relationship with an MCP?
Because Ezekiel is one. He repeatedly disturbed Carol when he knew she wanted to be left alone. She saved his ass, and everyone else at the Kingdom, and he has the cheek to call her a coward because she didnβt want to look for Henry, when he couldnβt be bothered to search himself?
And now, when sheβs (and God knows why) decided to enter into a relationship with this man, when she realizes that he is about to propose and tells him βdonβtβ, he ignores her and shows her a ring.
Donβt you see the problem? She said donβt, no, stop, and he ignores her and does it anyway. Doesnβt that sound like something else?
And when Carol reminds him that she had specifically asked him not propose to her, he just says βI know.β
Ok, Ezekiel, so you can remember that Carol asked you not to propose. So why do it? Why would you blatantly ignore her wishes if you βlove herβ?
He then, and this is the worst bit, fucking laughs.
Itβs not some goddamn joke. Carol put up with Ed who verbally and physically abused her, and now sheβs with a disrespectful jackass who thinks βnoβ means βgo aheadβ.
And after Ezekiel laughs, he puts his ring away and says βIβll keep this till youβre readyβ.
Sheβs not ready. Sheβs just fucking told you no, sheβs not ready and she didnβt want you to ask anyway. She is not a βmountain to climbβ. She is not playing hard to get. She said no. No means no, it does not mean not right now, or maybe, or just ignore me and do it anyway. No means no!
So what kind of message is The Walking Dead sending to its viewers by showing this scene and KPβs interview? That itβs ok to pester women and not take no for an answer? That women just want to be climbed, even if they donβt make it easy?
If you agree that this is wrong, please share this post. Letβs make the writers sit up and take notice. Itβs not right to show this kind of shit and act like itβs ok. No means no.
