Every time Chad told a story or described the events of something that happened Lucy found herself getting mesmerized by his mannerisms and how animated he could be. She nodded as she followed along with his journey and laughed whole heartedly when he said the smoke detector started going off like it was calling the authorities. "Well, I'm glad you didnt burn the place down because I really dont wanna find somewhere else to sleep. I also love the idea of breadbowls so if we can raincheck that, that'd be cool." Lucy almost forgot there was someone else in the room and started leaning in to kiss Chad but then a noise made her stop and she decided not to do that with an audience. "I've laughed, Ill be fed as soon as the food is ready and once I'm done eating ill change and get comfortable." She smiled at him, "other than the burnt bread situation did you have a good day?"
Chad’s mouth curved into an easy smile at the raincheck, nodding immediately. “Oh, for sure,” he said. “Bread bowls are my favorite. And the best part is the extras—you take the bread you hollow out, toss it with a little olive oil and seasoning, bake it off. Croutons for days. Or breadcrumbs if you’re feeling responsible.” He smirked. “Zero waste. Very noble.” He chuckled, and then got caught looking a her again. He caught the way she leaned in before stopping, and for just a split second his heart jumped into his throat. It showed in the way he stilled, then grinned a little awkwardly as he tried to pretend he hadn't noticed, but truly he'd just been thinking about kissing her for far too long. "Comfortable is… good. Big fan of comfortable.” When she asked about his day, his expression softened. “It was good,” he said honestly. “Busy. A lot of running around and half-finished projects. But also a lot of projects finished. Got the new hot tub cover changed out, got the kids loft beds built and set up, vacuumed.” He shrugged, then looked back at her, eyes warm. “But it’s better now.” He reached out, fingers brushing her wrist—nothing heavy, just there. “Having you here kind of resets the whole thing,” he added quietly. “So yeah. Really good day.”
