When Carrigan woke up in his cell, the door to his cell was open. Â What the fuck? Â Was this a trick? Â Even if it was, he wasnât waiting around here to find out. Â He was going to make a run for it. Â
Fight Me
âAnd neither do you know about me. However, I think Iâve done worse. Have fun sitting in your cage, Carrigan. Iâm going to go and have some fun in the city.â Nate grinned sardonically, before then turning on his heel once again and heading out of the cells, leaving the man to stew in his own anger, making a mental note to come back down to bother him again tomorrow, and the day after that⊠and the day after that.Â
Carrigan watched him leave. Â As soon as he was gone, Carrigan punched the wall in his anger, his knuckle splitting on the stone. Â âFuck!â he raged. Â If there wasnât enough shit he had to deal with, now he had a Ferrick witch loose in London. Â A Ferrick witch who was obviously intent on making him misserable. Â And he could do anything he wanted to Carrigan. Â Carrigan was a prisoner, a slave, he had no power. Â He could try and fight, but no matter how much he fought or struggled, heâd be at the mercy of a Ferrick witch. Â
Fight Me
Nate wasnât stupid, he knew that he was getting underneath the other maleâs skin, frustrating him to no end that he was unable to hold it in much longer, and all he needed to do was say the right thing, before he would erupt. It was sad that he couldnât do anything though from inside the cell he was trapped in, but that just gave Nate an edge that he could use. Chuckling once again as Carrigan spoke, Nate turned back around and looked at him. âEven out of your cell, you would still be a pathetic witch, s too soft to fight for your own freedom, hence the collar around your neck. You would have no chance against dark magic, Hart.â
âyou donât know anything about me or the things Iâve done, Ferrick. Â I donât need dark magic to gut you like a fish.â Â
Fight Me
âAs always, a Hart witch backing down, sinking back into the shadows where they belong.â Nate chuckled, and he pushed himself away from the bars that he had been closed to, taking a couple of steps back, intent on leaving. âThis wonât be the last you see of me, Carrigan. And, itâs Nathaniel. Nate Ferrick.â He smirked, turning to leave.
Carrigan lay there pretending to not care.  Pretending that Nate Ferrick, as he identified himself, wasnât getting to him, wasnât crawling under his skin.  Carrigan was a prideful man.  Prideful of the Hart name more so than of himself.  His parents had been strong people as were the other people in his family.  They didnât deserve to have the Hart name insulted.  But he could not react.  Despite his intent not to react and not to let Nate know he was getting to Carrigan, his mouth opened to let the insults fly.  âYouâre a coward, Ferrick.  Youâre so confident standing on that side of the bars with me stuck here and a collar binding my powers.  You wouldnât be so cocky if I were free.â
Fight Me
âWhat, no more questions about my name? About who I am, specifically?â Nate laughed, and he crossed his arms over his chest as he watched the witch. âNo, nothing at all, actually. Iâm rather content here.â
âWhat can I say... I got bored.â Â He shrugged his shoulders, walked over to his cot and lay down on it, intent on ignoring the Ferrick witch, hoping he would go away. Â He had to talk to Evie, spread the word that there was a Ferrick witch in town. Â Maybe some of the Alpha witches would hear and do something about this. Â
Fight Me
âHecate will not touch my magic.â This was going to be fun, Nate could tell. He could already see the fear and anger boiling up inside the Hart witch, and he could only imagine how many other witchesâ skin he would get under by just being in the city. As he asked which Ferrick witch he was, Nate just grinned and ran his hand over his jaw line. âThe bad one.â
Carrigan couldnât help rolling his eyes at the far too cocky man in front of him. Â âPiss off. Â Donât you have something better to do?â Â
Fight Me
Nate rolled his eyes as the Hart witch warned him to be careful, and he looked him with amusement in his eyes. âI donât think sheâs here, is she?â He teased, mocking the male that was stuck between the bars. âOh, no, I think Iâm going to have some fun here in London, and thereâs nothing that you, or any of the other Covenâs can do about it. I donât have a collar around my neck, you seee. I canât be controlled.â
Carrigan felt a pang of fear roll through his body. Â Shit. Â A Ferrick witch in London was a bad thing specially with the covens all broken up. Â And it wasnât like he could reach out to the First Witch and bring to her attention Ferrickâs bad reputation. Â He was for all intents and purposes, caged and silenced, and Ferrick knew it. Â Shit. Â âDonât push your luck. Â Hecate might not be here this second, but sheâs around and she can take power just as easily as she can give it, Ferrick. Â Which one are you anyway?â Â He knew there were several Ferrick siblings, but he didnât know their names. Â
Fight Me
âIâm just here to cause a bit of troule, and to see just how the mightly had fallen.â Nate sneered, looking through at the witch that was a part of the Coven that had caused his own family so much pain.
Carrigan hated the very idea of the Ferrick witches. Â His parents had told him lots of stories about the evil they did and the pain and suffering they enjoyed. Â âCarefull, Ferrick,â He smirked. Â âI donât think Hecate, the goddess of all witches, will enjoy you fucking up her city too much. Â You should crawl back to the hole you came out of.â Â
Fight Me
Unable to stop himself from chuckling again, Nate crossed his arms over his chest, seeing the realisation cross over the maleâs face at what Coven he belonged to. âAh, yes, because if I do, youâre going to stop me? From behind your bars, with your magic stopped by that collar around your neck? Pathetic.â
Carrigan glared at the male in front of him. Â He was right. Â There wasnât much he could do. Â But heâd love to get his hands around the bastard. Â Or better yet, heâd love to get his hands on a knife. Â Heâd gut him. Â âIS there something you wanted, Ferrick?â Â
Fight Me
âNot personally, no. But Iâve heard of you. So sad what happened to your lovely little fiancĂ©e a little while back. The news got all the way out to us in Australia.â The witch ran his finger along the bars that separated the other male from him.
Australia. Â This was a Ferrick witch. Â His parents had a part in banishing the Ferrick witches from the UK for their treacherous magic and here stood one, free, while Carrigan was locked in a cage. Â âDonât fucking talk about her,â he snapped, his temper getting the better of him before he could stop himself. Â
Fight Me
âThatâs going to be difficult, Hart, seeing as youâre on the wrong side of the bars.â Nate chuckled darkly, making his way up towards the cell that he had been drawn to almost automatically. âShame about your littleâŠÂ predicament.â
âDo I know you, asshole?â Â Carrigan said to the guy in front of him. Â His smug face was just begging to be punched. Â
Fight Me
âPain shouldnât make us stronger. Love should make us stronger. I donât want to feel that pain. He doesnât want my magic in his head and he doesnât want my witch shit. She was amazing. We all had so much fun when we were children. I miss her too.â Evie sighed softly. âI donât like seeing you this way. It makes my nonexistant heart ache.â
âI know,â Carrigan said softly. Â âBut when we donât have love, pain will do. Â Use your pain to make you stronger. Â Get yourself free of this place. Â My fight here isnât done yet. Â But yours is. Â Go hide somewhere away from the vampires and werewolves and just live out your life in peace if not happiness.â Â Carrigan had to steel himself off. Â It was too painful to talk about his fiance and the ruined wedding. Â âI miss her too,â Â he said quietly. Â
Fight Me
She just smiled at him softly. âCarriâŠI donât want it back. It hurt too much with it it. YouâŠâ Evie stopped for a moment before she said something bad. âI never came to her funeral. And Iâm sorryâŠmy Aunties told me about it. I wish that I could have fixed it.â
Carrigan looked away at the mention of his betrothed. Â âI didnât go to her funeral either. Â After the attack, I just left. Â Havenât even seen my family or looked for them after the uprising. Â That part of me is dead. Â But I know how much it hurts to have your heart crushed. Â Take your heart back... use that pain to become stronger.â Â
Fight Me
âCarri.â She said softly. Even without a heart she never could bring herself to be mad at her best friend. âWe both know that nothing good happens to OâHalloran witches that go dark. But thanks for the offer.â
âI..â He took a deep breath and let it out. Â âIâm not going to let any of that happen to you. Â We can fix this, Evie. Â You just have to get out of this cell and get your heart back.â Â
Fight Me
âFound my Twin Flame. Got my heart broken. Decided it was best all around to just get rid of that. Now it wonât bother him.â She said to him as if she was explaining the most obvious thing in the world. âNah, forget about me. Iâm no use out of these cells. You know that I canât use my magic without emotions. I would just turn into a necromancer if I got this collar off without my heart.â
Carrigan was shocked by the news that Evie found her twin flame and he had apparently rebuffed her. Â âIâm sorry. Â But your life isnât over. Â I wonât let you just throw it away. Â You can still use magic.â Â Granted it wasnât normally the light and good kind of magic, but magic at least would still be available to Evie. Â
Fight Me
âAw, come on, Carri! You couldnât beat me when we were children and you couldnât beat me now. Especially since I have no heart.â Evie giggled as she leaned against the bars. âDonât be so bitter just because you still have one.â
âWhat the fuck happened to you, Evie?â Â He took a deep breath and let it out. Â âYou shouldnât be here. Â Iâm going to get you out of here... even if it kills me.â Â
Fight Me
âYou think that you can beat me even aft all this time, Hart?â
âOâHalloran,â Carrigan said, fury inside of him. Â âYouâve got no fucking heart. Â Any idiot can see that clear as day. Â So yeah I think I can take you no problem. Â I think you could use a good ass kicking.â Â
