“It’s okay, I won’t hate you or anything if you aren’t.”
He affectionately nudged her arm with his head. “The sun is the closest,” he explained. “Looks bigger.”
Ally leaned back on her hands as she watched him transform, his body growing taller as the wolf characteristics fell away and more manly shapes began to take their place. “Wow.” She looked up at him, slightly in awe, slightly jealous. “Hello.”
Her reaction was very pleasant, a gentle heat swelling in his chest as he felt somewhat embarrassed by her inspired gaze. He cleared his throat, preparing to switch his method of communication. “Hello,” he parroted quietly, a small smile gracing his lips. “What’s.. mm, what’s your name?”
why did the f4 reboot have to bomb i needed those gifs
“Oh my god!” Ally did back away this time, but in excitement instead of fear. A wide grin burst across her cheeks as she laughed in amazement. “That’s amazing. So you don’t even have to shift from animal to animal; you can do hybrids. What’s your usual form?”
An argument could be made that he considered this form as a default, if only because he felt the most comfortable in it. But it wasn’t the body he was born in, and with her question the white wolf reared back and began to shift. It appeared seamless; the way his body morphed away the fur and lithe, canine muscles to make up the young man that now stood before her.
“Your dad also tried to tell me the sun wasn’t the biggest star. Sometimes he’s wrong.”
He made an amused chirp at her.
“You’re with me on that right? It’s so obvious.”
That just caused him to whimper indecisively.
“Your dad also tried to tell me the sun wasn’t the biggest star. Sometimes he’s wrong.”
He made an amused chirp at her.
“Whoa…” Somewhere in the back of her mind, the instinct to back up began to flare, but her curiosity overran it. Instead, she stayed where she was, head tilting as her brain began to spin with possible reasons why this wolf was essentially talking to her. “You’re not just a wolf, are you? A shapeshifter maybe?”
He rewarded her courage with a little nudge of his nose follow by a soft grunt. With that, his rather large wings of blue and gold feathers sprouted from his back, extending upward in a beautifully display.
“Let’s not push it too much here. The only one I really remember the name of is oranges, for obvious reasons.” She tilted her head to the side. “Son, do you ever think the other orange fruits get jealous of oranges?”
He shook his head. “Color came last. That’s what Dad said.”
Ally’s leaned back just slightly as her brow furrowed, creating a crease atop her nose. Did he just nod? On purpose? She kept scratching, now reaching underneath his chin. “Did you just…” She laughed softly, finding it all a bit crazy. “Did you just nod?”
Honestly, a little distracted by the chin scratches, his tongue ran across his teeth before he gave another nod. He really didn’t want to scare her; it was the very last thing he wanted to do.
She had to swallow down a giggle– though it didn’t really matter because no one but the wolf was around to see her geek out– and as he bumped her hand, she took that as permission to pet him. Ally scratched lightly at the top of his head before moving down toward the side. “I wonder if you have a pack…Wolves don’t usually wander alone, do they?”
He was glad she felt comfortable enough to pet him. It wasn’t as if he enjoyed deceiving her with this form; it was obvious she thought him to be just a wild animal. In some ways, he was, but with an intelligence that she couldn’t possibly understand in this meeting of theirs. He leaned into the touch, eyes closing a bit. Perhaps.. if he gave her a soft nod, he could continue their interaction on a more even plane. So he did.
Positively beaming as the wolf didn’t run away, Ally bent down so she was crouching, arms resting on her knees. Slowly, she extended a hand out for the wolf to sniff if he chose too. “It’s okay. I won’t hurt you.”
It seemed to him that they were both appreciating the attention. He always liked company, new or old, and it wasn’t far fetched to assume she was fond of canines. He did sniff her a bit, again focused on the dog that she must have been in contact with. Then he butted his head up under her palm.
Ally rather enjoyed getting away into the forest for a while. Being in the city was great, but sometimes she felt like getting away and the forests in upstate New York allowed her to do just that. She had flown all the way over and now landed among the trees, a few leaves covering the grass. She heard some rustling, and turned around, noticing a wolf not too far away. “Hey,” she smiled. “You’re beautiful.”
Her comment warmed him. If he had cheeks, he might have blushed. The shifter made a soft little howl, just letting the breath fizzle out from his muzzle, as if to share in her sentiment. She was a very lovely looking.. humanoid? It was difficult to tell just what she was at this point. He began his approach, his tail up and nose front, signifying his excitement.

Initially, he kept his distance. His furry white ears were perched high on his head as he tried to get a better understanding of the girl in his sights. That was when he smelled the dog on her, and he grew increasingly more curious.
“I remembered,” she hummed to herself in her excitement.
His head nudged hers as he let out a pleased chirp. It wasn’t that he was proud of his momma, because he always felt that way toward her, but he was happy that she was excited about herself. “What fruit?”
She locked their arms together. “See, I’m learning,” she beamed with pride.
“You knew it,” he assured her, a sparkle in his eye.
“Seven demons surround you… What do you do?”
“Introduce myself.” His reply was quick-- as it was basic instinct-- but not a moment after the words left his mouth.. he couldn’t shake the feeling that he answered wrong.
