And despite tumblr staff insisting that the CEO was acting against their interests, the broad transmisogyny evident in the site's culture and moderation policy has still not been adequately addressed?

In my “After the War” AU timeline:

The reason why Megatron shot Orion in the face instead of his spark is that he knew that the damage won’t do much but just be healed over thanks to the matrix (regardless of it still being newly given to Optimus).

So instead, he removes any trace of his Orion from Optimus, leaving him the final memory of his librarian instead of a Prime.
