Before Sunrise
The last week in Europe was the perfect cap to my journey. The last week I really wanted to experience more culture in Europe so I decided to head to Paris and then Amsterdam before heading back to Dublin to catch my flight home. I am glad I chose this route.

When I arrived in Paris I was slightly culture shocked. No one spoke English and all of the signs were in French. If it wasn’t…

So it has been a while since I have posted. It has been a pretty hectic week or so and it wasn’t until yesterday that I had a good full day of rest.
My three day trip to the Highlands was amazing. Met tons of cool people and saw tons of amazing places. I feel like Three days wasn’t enough in the Highlands. There is a trail that you can backpack that goes from South to North through the hills of…

So I think I have discovered the most beautiful city in at least Northern Europe. Edinburgh, Scotland. Not as much of a city as it is a a real large town. Don’t get me wrong, it is pretty big, but compact and not fast moving and hectic like Dublin and Belfast. Honestly it reminds me of the big sister of Galway. Beautiful buildings, good night life and on a beautiful bay. It is a surprising 490,00 people.

Awesome cathedral in the middle of town.
Edinburgh Castle
Walking around this town I am constantly in aw. Every building is ages old and most of the streets are cobble stone. Edinburgh Castle sits right in the city center giving a 360 view of the city. Edinburgh has the most historicaly protected buildings than any city in the world. If you were to take a picture 100 years ago, minus the giant cranes, it would look the same.
Meeting a lot more people but from a lot of the same countries. We all did a pub crawl last night that ended when the sun was coming up. Priceless.
I am heading on a 3 day tour of Scotland. Going to see the Isle of Skye and Loch Ness. Should have some awesome photos and more good stories.

These last days have been the best 5 days of my life…
Well earned pint at the top of the Guinness Brewery. Well earned photo bomb as well…
Been super busy! I have traveled all over Ireland and now I am getting some much needed respite in Belfast after another long day of traveling. I honestly think I am learning just as much about Ireland as I am about other countries. Everyone I talk to I…

Today had a lot to do with drinking. Not only did I hit my milestone 5th pint of Guinness(one Irish Red as well) I had a taster or two at the Jameson Distillery. There was literally zero Irish people in my whole group of 26; not counting the hilarious tour guide who was very much Irish. Can we say tourist trap? Someone even asked if there was an amusement park in Dublin. Ha!

Including drinking, a lot of walking was involved. If could guess I walked 10 miles today. Walking is much cheaper than a bus and I get to see in between. Plus it is a great work out. I explored around Temple Bar and the more historical area mostly. I got to see Dublin Castle, Christ’s Church, and The Chester Beatty Library full of old manuscripts and books from all over the work collected by Chester Beaty himself.
I then made my was across town to the most kick ass bar in Dublin The John Kavanaugh. Or as the locals call it, “GraveDiggers” due to it’s convenient location next to, you guessed it, a graveyard. Not just any ordinary graveyard though. A graveyard, I am guessing, 20 acres full of old crypts, old buildings, a giant, fortified wall and amazing head stones.

I originally found out about GraveDiggers after watching an Anthony Bordain show about a layover in Dublin. After watching the show I knew it was a must and I am glad that I went. The owner’s sun, the 7th generation to work in the bar named Ciaran, was more than welcoming. He asked me how I found out about his bar. I told him about the show I saw and he told me stories about when Bordain came and how bad ass of a guy he was. I guess he idolized Anthony Bordain so it was a dream come true.
The food at GraveDiggers was excellent and the pints even better. For the first time I had the tradition Irish dish, coddle. Coddle is pretty much a meat stew. Sausage, bacon, more bacon, potato, broth and parsley as a garnish. Good stuff.
Simple but delicious none the less
Today was my last day in Dublin. Tomorrow I will be heading out to do a 4 day tour of Southwest Dublin. Hopefully I can get some DSLR time in since I wont have to worry as much about walking around with my camera in the more rural parts.

There are three things I have learned about Ireland in jut the 8 hours I have been on the ground. One, people here are ridiculously polite. Two, Dublin has just as many foreigners as actual Irish L...
