it was an accident skdh they were testing their fathers new weapon, it was a glove that was supposed to be dangerous bc of the heat that it was making, if u punched an enemy with it they would be hurt cuz of the well,, metal glove hitting them and the heat. its safe to say that it just was hot but not on the right side

i mentioned before that not everything here was true, it’s told by ophelias point of view and one of the main things shes knew for is how good she is at lying :) The gas actually was working and Delta did everything what they were told, just not what the right person was saying. Ophelia was the one who were controlling them the whole time. She was jealous of her father being praised, so she set the whole thing up. She controlled Delta to attack her, so it looks like the gas isn’t working right. When Delta ran off, she killed the father with one of their leftover prosthetics so it looks like Delta did it. The only reason she came back to Delta when she found out they actually were alive is to still seem innocent <3

When Ophelia was 21 their father was experimenting on something that could change everything, she was helping him with that. If the experiment turned out to be successful, he would be the man that changed the world and how it would function. The problem was they didn't have anyone that they could test it out on. The first person that came into their mind was Delta since they didn't show any interest in running their "family" business, so if they would lost them it wouldn't be that bad. They only accepted it cuz if they didn't, it would go on Taurus. Oh and what they were experimenting with? Mind control. The gas (or a liquid, came in two forms) was supposed to trick your brain into getting on more of a robot mode, and the person with the special equipment could easly control you, but something went wrong. Delta instead of listening to their father after getting a dose of gas, went completely feral and attacked Ophelia causing her her scars on the face and neck, after the effect ended, Delta was gone and their father was dead, supposedly killed by them. The fail of mind control stuff got onto news and brought media on the family. Ophelia got mad at Delta for ruining everything that she ever loved and now, she can get her revenge :)
