A vocabulary list I made for a lesson! We were planning on rock-climbing, but I unfortunately could not make it in the end due to my exams.
Rock Climbing Vocabulary List
Climb
to go up using feet and hands.
Climber
the person who is climbing.
Belay
To keep a climber from falling too far by using friction on the rope. The system that stops a climber's fall. It includes the rope, anchors, belay device and the belayer.
Belayer
The person who manages the rope so as to catch the climber on the other end in case of a fall or a slip.
Rope
a length of strong cord made by twisting together strands of natural fibers.
Helmet
a protective hat.
“Climbing” (also found in dialogue document)
climber call means climber is climbing.
“That’s Me!” (also found in dialogue document)
climber call that is said when the belayer pulls all of the rope through that is attached to the climber.
“Safe” (also found in dialogue document)
belayer call that there is no harm for the climber to incur.
“Lower” (also found in dialogue document)
climber call to belayer meaning to lower climber to ground in a controlled manner.

Harness
is used to secure a person to a piece of rope or an anchor point.
Heel Hook
using the heel of your foot to secure to a hold.
Toe Hook
using your toe of your foot to secure to a hold.

an oval shaped tool that is an essential tool for every climber where the gate can be locked.
