Hearing his name called out by Liz with such urgency nearly took him out of his violent frenzy. Nearly. He wanted to respond, to reassure her in some way, but the ex-con was aware that he couldn’t slip out now. This had to be finished. Beck fought with every fiber of his being, giving everything he had to give to ensure his victory and the agent’s safety, all while making her torturer experience pain, fear, guilt, before ending his life. Ruthless and precises as he’d been trained to be, he dropped the lifeless body of the man when he was done with him. Adrenaline was still rushing through him and his muscles were tense, ready to be put to action at any given moment.
Liz’s voice shook him out of it and he turned to the see the blonde. She reached out for him and his own body reacted to her touch, dropping the bloodied knife he was holding as his own arms wrapped around her. She was alive, thank God. Her breath against his neck, her warmth against his body, they were all beautiful sensations he feared he might not feel again. He pulled away just a little, threading his hands into her hair, holding her close as his forehead rested against hers for a moment. There were no words he could say now, nothing that could mean more than their proximity and the way her heart was beating so strongly he could feel it in his chest.
The screams and the burnt smell reached them, tossing Beck back into reality. William had carried out a massacre of his own out there, just as he did inside this office. At her question, all the young man could do was nod. Both men were that effective at killing, getting every single one of their opponents and leaving no chance for them to walk out. Beck pulled away entirely from their intimate embrace but kept an arm around the agent for her to have something to lean against and steady herself. Will had barely walked in when Beck was already taking Liz out. “We’re as okay as we can be” was his response, more focused on getting out of here than the trail of blood coming from his arm or the fact that Liz needed some serious tending to. Cass and her demon would probably have to do to her what they had done to him before. “We have to go, Will. Now. None of these guys got a chance to make any calls or radio their superiors before we stormed in. But I bet they’ll send people when no one reports back or when they learn this place is half-burnt to the ground”. He glanced at his friend again, thinking back of what he’d told to his girlfriend before sending her away. Ten minutes and Cass should come back for them “How long has it been?”.
In an instant, their bodies seemed to mold together as Beck finally took hold of her. His arms wrapped around her in a warm embrace and Liz fell into them, welcoming the warmth against her body. She was practically shivering from the lack of heat in the abandoned warehouse. Blood, sweat and dirt were caked onto her skin in various places, and she felt as though every inch of her body was covered in bruises, but it didn’t seem to matter when she finally found herself in his arms. The pain, the hurt, the tears that suddenly found their way into her eyes was all white noise. Liz’s head pressed into his chest and she breathed in his scent. Her breath seemed just as shaky as her hands were when a low, quiet sob escaped past her parted lips. It was over, the men were dead now. The men were dead now. She repeated again and again, closing her eyes as if somehow she could escape from the memories, and from the warehouse they stood in now. But she reamined in Beck’s arms, pressed against his chest, shielded from any other possible hurt or pain that could have been inflicted on her had he not shown up when he had.
They stayed like that for a moment until Beck pulled away and threaded his hands through her hair. She looked up at him through loose strands before he pushed them away, their foreheads meeting in a soft collison that caused even more warmth to pool within her chest. They breathed in unison, their lips inches apart and just barely touching. They didn’t speak because they didn’t need to. Words were useless compared to the sensation of their hearts beating, bodies warm and their skin brushing against one anothers as a reminded that they were both still here. “I’m okay.” Elizabeth cooed under her breath, closing her eyes again when the words fell from her lips like a mantra. She wasn’t quite sure whether the words were meant to reassure Beck, or herself, yet she continued to stay them. At least for a moment those words lulled them into a soft sense of security, as if they had time to have a moment just to themselves, though it couldn’t last. They both knew Callingwell’s men would well be on their way once these men didn’t report back to them. The best thing to do now was get some distance in between them, this place, and Richard Callingwell.
With Beck’s arm rested around her torso, Liz was able to move somewhat slowly out of the office, though she made sure to avoid any contact with the two men laying dead in their own blood. Will approached them not a moment later, his eyes wide as they fell upon Liz. “I’m okay.” She said again, this time obviously for Will’s benefit, even if her voice sounded rather horse and beaten down. It seemed Beck did have similar thoughts on Callingwell’s men. There wasn’t enough strength in her to help voice the same opinion so she merely nodded and adjusted her broken wrist. The damn injury was beginning to feel numb, which wouldn’t mean anything good. “Will, I need to get to Cass.” The agent said through gritted teeth, wincing a little when she adjusted her wrist a little too far to the right. She didn’t know what Beck’s question towards Will meant, but she hoped it meant getting the hell out of here. The smell of burnt flesh was beginning to make her stomach churn, and she didn’t dare look past Will to view the scene ahead.
Shit. How long has it been? Will pulled out his burner and let out a sigh of relief realizing they’d done it all in seven minutes. “Seven minutes.” The fire starter met Beck’s eyes and quickly dialed the number to Cass’ burner. He waited about half a second before hearing Cass pick up after just one ring. “Hey C- hey, hey, hey, yeah I’m fine. Not even a scratch on me. It’s pretty bad with Liz, though, so we’ll need you to work your magic, okay?” Will paused, nodding along as Cass spoke to him. The quickest way outta here was through Calypso’s reality warping, so that was just what they’ve have to do. “Yeah I think that’d be best. It’s quicker…Meet us right where we left you, okay?” He finally said once she’d finished, turning so he could nod for Beck and Liz to follow him. “Okay, see you soon.” With that, he ended the call and slipped the phone back into his pocket as they walked. Liz was rather slow on her own, obviously whatever they’d done to her had shattered a couple of bones and definitely left some bruises.
“She’s coming for us back where we left her. Let’s hurry and get the hell out of here.” Will called over his shoulder as they rounded the corner, slowly but surely approaching the spot where they’d split paths with Cass. Hopefully whatever state Elizabeth was in wouldn’t worsen if they traveled Calypso’s way, but he couldn’t be certain. Perhaps taking extra caution with the agent would be in their best interests. Just as they approached the drop off side, Cass appearched in front of them, and he went to her instantly. “See? Perfectly fine. Well-” He turned to Liz and Beck, who brought up the rear, knowing good and well that while he was fine, they were in worse shape. “Here, grip onto both of us Liz, this might not be the best experience for you after all this.” Will wrapped one of his arms around Elizabeth’s right side, leaving the other to Beck, who seemed attached at the hip. He couldn’t blame him either, seeing as if the tables were turned, Will would’ve easily torn every single man, woman or beast apart just to save Casiopea. He took Cass’s hand in his own and made sure the other two were ready before giving her a light nod. “Let’s get the hell out of here.”
Ten minutes. It wasn’t that long of a period to wait, and yet Casiopea found herself looking at the clock on her burner phone just every few seconds as if willing the seconds to pass faster. All in hopes that she could return to get Will, Beck and Liz back to safety. Try to relax, my darling girl. The brunette turned to the side and her demon stood by her side, nimble fingers resting on her shoulder. You will need all your focus and all your energy to perform a travel again, to bring more people with you. “You’re right” the girl muttered, finally sitting down on the bed and trying to ease her anxiety by breathing in and out deeply a few times. Will and Beck would be fighting their way to get Liz by now, putting their every skill to the test. Her time to prove herself would come when they were done with the rescue, when she would have to harness her demon’s power to warp reality again. If they were injured it would also fall into her hands to mend them, to fix broken bones and tissue if necessary. With any luck Will and Beck would walk out unscathed but she knew better than to expect Elizabeth to be well. She’d been at the mercy of Richard’s men... she wouldn’t be well.
Time had a way of passing in a less excrutiating way by the second half of her wait, and eventually her phone rang. There was some relief in hearing Will’s voice and the young woman tossed the phone aside when their brief conversation was over, closing her eyes and letting her demon’s power flow through her. The world around her shattered and was rebuilt. That was how it felt to teleport from one place to the other, all of it happening in mere seconds. “Will” his name escaped her lips before her arms found him and he held her close for a moment. She studied him quickly, seeing no evident wounds on him but when her eyes traveled to Liz and Beck... well, that was a whole other story. Both of them needed to be tended to as soon as possible. “It’s going to be okay” she said in a feeble whisper, offering a light smile to both of them. The four of them held each other, her hands touching shoulders, Will’s arm around her waist, and Beck keeping Liz close, and in the blink of an eye Calypso’s power took them out of that desolated place.
