Shift 1 down 🙂

Round two tonight. At least this time I didn’t take my ADHD meds in the ‘normal person’ morning and then take a second dose at 0200 🥲 that 60mg at 0200, 2L water and 2 coffees had me on LOCK.

Work has an ice-cream van in today so very jealous of my dayshift peeps but I finished shift to a big hug from a fellow intern 🫶

Personally, I like night shifts. It’s just a different tone. Day shift is hard. Night shift is hard but day shift just has so many judgy eyes and my tolerance is not all that 🤭 I’m too confrontational for management 😅

Catching My Breath (Literally) 🫁⏳

Well, Vienna has officially been hijacked by a brutal heatwave, and I can tell you right now: Roxie and I absolutely hate it. Don’t get me wrong, I love summer—until the humidity turns the air into thick soup and sucks out every bit of oxygen.

My poor pump was absolutely flying before I even hit record. The tropical air had me feeling totally breathless, but I went ahead and did a breath-hold anyway because I love a little drama. You can actually hear her initial confusion when the recording starts—she struggles to process the sudden shift before finally settling down. But you know that uncomfortable sensation when your heart isn't technically at a dangerous speed, but it still feels like it's trying to physically punch its way out of your chest? That's the vibe today. 🫀✨

​I’m still playing around with this microphone setting, but here is the raw data anyway. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and have a lovely weekend. We certainly don’t want to invite an accidental arrhythmia into the mix just because we forgot to drink water, do we? 😉 Hydrate up! 💦💧

The Bionic Heart Update 🛠️🤖

The saga continues: my ECG machine is still apparently socializing at the border, and my nerves are officially frayed. But because I cannot be stopped, I went ahead and bought a proper, manufactured stethoscope mic to replace my trusty, cheap DIY version. 🩺

​The verdict? Well, it’s loud. It definitely works. But it turns out my pump sounds less like flesh and blood and more like a finely tuned piece of German engineering. A bit mechanical, huh? Maybe I should have spent even more money on a high-end model... but unfortunately, I only look like a million bucks, I don't actually own them. 💸🤡
