short description: she's lived her entire concious life living in 2 realities, one of which is in her mind and one of which is real. she doesn't know which is which, but she knows one of them is fake. (I know this is not how DID usually works, but I am writing her story this way because that was that idea that led me to create her.)

story (HEAVY TW): after her 17 year old sister came out as a lesbian and was promptly kicked out when she was 14, she followed along with her sister since she also liked women. her sister, Carol, became a sex worker, which resulted in her death after a man refused to pay her. Katrina gets with a 28 year old man at 15, who is abusive and an addict. she got pregnant with Mal at 16, and her abusive boyfriend forced Mal to take his last name, but Katrina gave Mal her sister's name as her middle name. Katrina, after 3 1/2 years of barely being able to pay rent due to her boyfriend not making enough money, calls the cops on him, and due to him already being investigated he is immediately arrested once they see the glaringly obvious scars on Katrina and the fact that she has a toddler at 19, and a paternity test clearly showed he was the father. Running off unemployment checks and a nearly non-existent child support fund from her now incarcerated ex boyfriend, she completes her high-school education at night school. She works 3 jobs to be able to pay for everything for multiple years just to get by, and right as she is starting to consider doing many bad things (open ended for a reason), she gets a phone call that her dad was killed in a car accident, meaning she inherited 1/3 of her father's fortune, which, while not an insane amount, gives her the space to quit one of her jobs, afford health insurance, and afford community college. she now deals with her mentally unstable daughter and phone calls from her ex in prison.

story: Mal's best friend since 3rd grade, he's had a lot of weight be held on him for years. this really hindered his ability to focus on himself and his own issues, like how his dad randomly dissappears after a business trip or how he needs to explore his identity. Fortunately, he is able to get on testosterone by the end of 7th grade, but he still has issues with how he perceives himself. They are still able to bond over their struggles, though, so that benefits him, but he still has to be concerned for mal's safety.
