“Hey,” Christian started, going over to the other who looked slightly distressed. “Are you alright?”

“Uh...” Cassia thought about not telling him. She hadn’t told anyone a whole lot about her family and especially not what she had done. But this didn’t have anything to do with the latter, “It’s my father’s birthday today,” She said finally, “It’s not a big deal really. I don’t even do anything but I was just thinking about it and what my life would be like if he was still around, if he was still in my life. It’s fine. I’m fine.”

“You’re so not getting a signed copy.” Charlotte said with a small shake of her head. “It’ll start to go faster as the game goes on, are you ready?” She then asked holding the final coin almost in the slot ready to drop it as Cassia was ready.

“Oh gosh, I’m heartbroken,” Cassia replied sarcastically and then nodded, “Ready, let’s go.”

Drake looked around the room and motioned to the empty space. “My millions of fans,” He said deadpanned. “Who do you think I was talking to?” Drake couldn’t keep the impish smirk off his face. “I’m saying whatever word you want me to, to just get them to stop.” He grumbled burying his face into his arm. The constant thumping from the music was getting under his skin. “Yeah? Anything exciting or you just stalking her?”

“Be right back,” Cassia said, slipping out of their apartment. A few minutes later the music stopped and she returned with a smug smile, “No broken noses but they’ll think again before playing music of any kind,” She shrugged, “Just down some streets and alleys, I’ve never seen before. No matter how long I’ve been here, there’s always more to see.”

Drake was hunched over nursing a cup of coffee. He was exhausted from being out the night before. He needed to sleep but he wasn’t ready to, not yet. “Whoever is playing that goddamn music is going to die. I mean it. I will end them.” He groaned as he threw the mug at the wall. The coffee dripped down the wall into a pool onto the floor. “Sorry, I just hate people sometime.” He sighed leaning back in his seat. “How was your night? Had any fun plans? Late night dips, howling in the moonlight?” He teased weakly.

“Grey, who the hell do you think you’re talking to?” Cassia asked, not even flinching when the mug was thrown against a wall, “Say the word and I’ll break their noses. They’re only my neighbours after all,” She paused, moving to clean up the mess, “No dips but I did follow Luna around for a little bit when she went exploring last night. You know I do that sometimes just for the fun.”

I’m the expert,” Charlotte repeated again pretending to act like it was no big deal, “Do you think I should write a book about it?” She asked setting up a game for the two of them. “Okay, so the premise of this game is you need to shoot as many goals as possible before the time runs out, you have two minutes and after the first minute the basket starts to move. Got it?”

“Please do not write a book. I shouldn’t have said anything, should have known it would go to your head,” Cassia said, sighing, “Got it. Shoot goals. Easy.”

“Well it’s very interesting,” Cassia asked. She was genuinely intrigued. She lacked a formal education but she was always curious to learn new things which is why she was studying it so intensely, “What do these colours normally mean about someone’s aura?”
