My third profile drawing.
Using the methods from Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain to draw a profile. I’m gonna do a few more of these over the next couple days.
Here are some things that have helped me to make sure I draw every day. If you have a specific thing that you do to to motivate yourself, please let me know ...
View from outside my window. First time trying to draw trees without leaves. Kinda difficult. I could have added more shading, but this was the third day of working this. I was kinda ready to be done.
Practicing sighting. Kinda stressful. Can’t wait to move on to something else.
Learning to draw and sharing progress.
So, this is my first time using Tumblr for anything, but I figured this is the best platform for what I want to do with my art. I’m pretty much learning to draw from scratch. I picked up this book called Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain by Betty Edwards and I’ve been following the exercises/lessons in there. I started thinking that maybe I should post my progress somewhere so I could possibly get some feedback, and, at very least, keep myself accountable.
I also figure that there are allot of other people learning to draw out there, maybe sharing my progress, and/or screw-ups will help someone learn, who knows. So, yeah, I’ll be sharing some of my drawing exercises here and writing about the things that I’ve enjoyed and the things that I didn’t enjoy so much about this process.
I’ve created a Facebook page where a number of my practice drawings can be found already: https://www.facebook.com/casualdrawingcorner. I’ll be creating a YouTube channel as well as accounts on other social media platforms to get a feel for how each of them will help me grow a following/community.
I’m new to this, and I don’t really know how all this is going to work out yet, but in the past I’ve always been really hesitant to share my drawings with other people, and I think that’s why progress was always really slow for me. This time I want things to be different, and I actually want to commit to this and see real improvement over the next few months.Â
Thanks for reading this. Hopefully I have enough self-discipline to post regularly, lol.
