I've stocked up on our most basic resource for day-to-day survival.
We're working hard this sunday for our kickstarter-launch!
There is nothing better than exploding zombies with a bottle of Alchemist's Fire!
We've been working really hard on our latest project as of late! We've been working almost non-stop for the past week, and we just wanted to share a bit of the concept art for one of the player-characters that we've been working on.
The in-game graphical design will be pixel because we love that retro-nostalgic feel that pixel art creates, and hopefully soon we'll be able update more on the in-game graphics.
The game we have in mind so far is going to have be a survival game with a some elements of crating, but we wan't to combine this with RPG elements and character development.
We're now ready to work on pixel art! Here is some initial graphics work for our current project Apocalypso!
To All and Everyone!
I just looked through our tumblr, and realized that there was a whooole lot of pictures and random quotes, but we haven't really updated regularly on much of the progress, process or idea... Our bad, really, we're pretty new to this, so we have to figure out how we best communicate our many ideas out to the people who might be interested!
We've been working on a game we call Sleeping Woods over the summer. Throughout our rather long summer holiday we’ve worked on graphics and programmed the basics for the game, and had actually got a lot of ground- and initial work covered, before we came to the conclusion that we wanted the game to be different in design! Thus we came to the conclusion that this game would be put on hiatus for the time being, so that we can really think about the game design!
This also means that we instead have time to work on another idea we’ve had for a game! It hasn’t got a title yet, but we wanted to make a game that wasn’t the classic 2D platformer that we initially intended for Sleeping Woods! This is also the game that we will update on for now, and we will figure out a way to update on the whole development progress, not just the random picture here and there.
This has already become quite a lengthy and prolonged (though much needed) update, and we will leave it here, and instead promise a more thorough introduction to the game at a later time!
With love from the Casual Owl
Here’s the futher development of Oliver, our main character for the Sleeping Woods project! The perspective have changed a lot, which realle makes it a much more dynamic character! The pose is really weak though, and it kinda makes him seem like a scaredy-cat!
We've been working on a game idea we call Sleeping Woods (initially called Danny and the Forest of Baba Yaga), and I thought it a good idea to share some of the graphic development!
We've earlier shared the first rough sketches for the main character (now called Oliver), and this is what happened when we got to work on the idea on the computer! We have to this day mainly updated on the very functional graphics, such as this 2D view on the main character, and although these might not be as appealing as a picture where you've worked on perspectives, focus points and what not, we still think it's interesting how you geet a sense or 'feel' into this rather flat shape and character.
The Casual Owl has just enjoyed a week with the amazing fire festival in Silkeborg, Denmark! Our blog, Twitter, site and so on has been at a stand-still for sine time now, but here we are again! We were (unfortunately) in too much awe at the time to get a picture of the fireworks that are the signature of the festival, so here is a picture of a Ferris wheel ( although haphazardly taken) that was brought in to town for the festival, as a part of a mobile Tivoli!
We're just in the middle of working some of the sketches onto the computer!
Somerimes you gotta work with whats at hand. In this case being children's tusch and a sketchbook!
There's no rest for the wicked! Sketchin today for our next game!
How to break into the process of character design.
I always find the initial phase of creating characters quite intimidating and also very frustrating. I usually have an initial idea of what i want my character to be, but in the process of translating this thought onto the paper, i realize again and again, that first of all, the process is not ever as simple as I want it to be! Second realization being that what I end up drawing is really not that near my initial thought! For me at least, it’s a process of making several drawings before deciding on that final concept that captures the essence of what I want that charater to feel like. And it is absolutely amazing, and terribly terrifying!
This is “Meister”, he’s very pleased to meet you. He’s very sad that he’s not finished.
C-You

Random convos
He: "All that hate!"
She: "I'm sorry" (laughing)
He: "And all i want is a waterslide but no! NO! We apparently don't have 'enough room'" (Rolls his eyes while making air quotes)
