A huff. She’d put up with his bossing for long enough. This is where she was digging her heels in. Arms fold across her chest in defiance. She knows he means well . . . 

     “Kuroske,” a whine.  

     “I don’t wanna.”

“Ice cream? Didn’t Kuroh tell you no…?”

The king briefly looks up from his own paperwork. He’d heard the first bit, but Adolf had only picked his head up when Neko had directly asked him a question. The elder bit his lip as he thought about the situation; his sweet little girl was hot and uncomfortable, but Kuroh had already refused her. It would be counterintuitive to go against Kuroh’s edict if they were to instill some discipline in the strain, but that sweet little face…and she had asked so nicely well, she hadn’t said please or anything, but this old man is weak for his baby girl… oh, Kuroh was gonna kill him.

“Well…alright! But don’t tell Kuroh, or Alex. Okay?” The elder warned, knowing what the two would do to him if they found out he cracked again.

     “Hurrah!!”

Who cared what that old dog said anyway? Besides it was just ice cream. And she’d been good today. Even done most of her work. 

     “I promise! Can I get two scoops? And sprinkles?”

So maybe getting that red guy with a squirt gun hadn’t been the best idea. But, a little water never hurt anyone right? Besides he’d looked hot, in her opinion that is. At least she’d been able to out run him, four legs were better than two in that regard. 

The ruse abandoned she sought out better protection from an unknowing stranger. He was dressed in green but didn’t look like one of those bad guys. He actually reminded her more of some of the ‘Rabbits’ she’s seen before. But with the way things were now you could never really be sure. 

     “Hey mister,” a smile. 

     “You know of a good hiding spot?”  Those red guys always cooled off if you gave them enough time.
