Axolotl pastel girl. Still a WIP but I'm liking how it looks so far. I realize my colour palettes have been all over the place. I feel like I'm searching for a direction with my art, and just trying everything to see what feels right. I'm probably gonna end up with a ton of leftover art supplies. As an art supply hoarder, that's fine.

I spilled gesso all over my keyboard. I'm so mad.

So I'm still struggling with acrylics. I hate having to layer up for opacity and I'm impatient waiting for layers to dry. I think, for me, acrylics don't work well with my minimal style or for quick unplanned artwork. Instead I am gonna focus on planning out some more realistic and detailed work.

Not my usual style but I learned a lot. I think my next painting will be on wood instead of canvas.

Kryptopterus vitreolus, known in the aquarium trade traditionally as the glass catfish and also as the ghost catfish or phantom catfish, is a small species of Asian glass catfish. It is endemic to Thailand, where found in rivers south of the Isthmus of Kra that drain into the Gulf of Thailand and river basins in the Cardamom Mountains.

My bored navigator is done. I'm happy with how this turned out. The story I imagine for this character is that she's a navigator on a spaceship at the end of her shift. Doing the equivalent of going over paperwork before clocking out.

Done the bottom layer. Acrylics are proving challenging. I'm definitely learning a lot as I go along.

Next step will be adding lineart and detail. I want more scifi stuff in the background, but I'm not sure what exactly.

Here's the first layer. I'm not liking how transparent acrylic paints are. I'm gonna have to layer up like crazy. Maybe I should try gouache in the future.
