sylas’ one comfort during his time in prison was this one bird that had found its way into his cell. it was a bird often associated with marsino, the demacian equivalent of a bluejay. it would visit him, bring him gifts of sticks and leaves, and keep him company. it died one winter at about the tenth year, leaving him utterly alone for 5 remaining years until lux started to drop by. he, at first, thought it was a sign that marsino was watching over him   ( religion being the one thing the mageseekers really... tried to focus on while teaching him ),   and that faith died with the bird’s own death.

Even talking to someone and being told it's okay, compliments, nice things people say, it all adds up to drown you further. Guilt, for feeling this way when everyone's being nice and you're not enough.

mages finally getting the freedom and equality sylas fought for, but it ends with sylas also taking the sole responsibility of everything his followers did on his shoulders, likely being hanged for the longest crime list in all of demacian history. too exhausted to really fight anymore, but the last thing he’s gonna do is apologize to lux with just this tired smile because oof she was the only one who cared about him when he spent 15 years getting treated like absolute shit, just scraping by to survive, with unmonitored guards getting to beat the shit out of a man who couldn’t even defend himself while also restricting his meals in secret. he’d also apologize to his followers beforehand, but lux gets the final one. and you bet he’s going to call her little light because fuck you.
